    Thanks for making this video. I searched all over for info on how to get up to the top of the Dome before my trip in June of 2019. I had to get information from a priest friend of mine because I couldn't find anything online and I had missed the top of the Dome years before. It is definitely worth seeing even if you are afraid of heights. My husband is deathly afraid of heights and even he enjoy the view....for a shorter time than myself😉

    Super helpful for planning! I’d pay for the elevator for sure.

    The steps you skip taking the elevator are the easy ones, once you get in the dome itself are the toughest steps.

      @TheTourGuyVids  Před 4 měsíci

      Tough is a relative term. It depends on your fitness level but it’s certainly worth it for the view

      @@TheTourGuyVids What I meant was the upper steps, which you will be climbing regardless if you take the elevator or not are tougher relative to the lower steps you avoid by taking the elevator.

    Useful and thanks for the video. Question is, after climbing the dome, can we enter basilica directly? Or we need to queue again?

    Take the stairs the entire way. The elevator line has at least 150 people in it. We had the lower stairs completely to ourselves, and honestly is was easy to walk up. I bet the elevator line was 30 minutes or longer.

    Hi! Was that the ticket booth at 3:32? I was wondering (since there is no option to buy tickets for the Dome beforehand ) how and where tickets can be bought. Is it only for the elevator or for the entire hike as well?

    • @TheTourGuyVids
      @TheTourGuyVids  Před 3 lety +2

      Great question! Yes, it was the ticket booth. Tickets cannot be purchased in advance and can be paid for in cash. 10€ with the elevator and 6€ with the stairs.

    • @kateliang7235
      @kateliang7235 Před 6 měsíci

      @@BB-qk5yi we went May last year, the website said you can’t book online, is first come first serve. We arrived around 3pm ish (after the museum visits). The line was massive (same as the st Paul line). We gave up on both. But I assume the video means you can book a tour, the tour guides could reserve ticket from their end, then show up in a group with them could skip the line a bit.

    If I'm already inside the Basilica (got there through the passageway from the Museums with a tour)... Can I access the dome climbing ticket booth/entrance without having to exit the basilica and make the line again?

    • @TheTourGuyVids
      @TheTourGuyVids  Před 8 měsíci +1

      The ticket booth is located in the foyer of the Basilica so you would exit the Basilica, but not have to go through the security line again. Also tickets are in high demand so don’t be disappointed if they don’t have same-day tickets available

    • @TheTourGuyVids
      @TheTourGuyVids  Před 2 lety

      Not sure the exact amount, but it’s still a lot of work. Imagine that the elevator gets you to the base just before the dome and you still have to walk up the dome
