    That vessel reminds me of some we checked at a small plant in Savannah. Exactly the same.

      Little vertical mixer pressure vessels are scattered across the country, and most people have no idea how many places have them, in sites they have never heard of before. Always fun going to a new place and seeing their process.

    We had one in our unit and I had two bad tubes that we replaced in place. Heat treaters are always something.

      This is not a heat treater. It is a vertical vessel with internal coils, used for heating and/or cooling. Mr. Eric

    What NDT is used to detect cracks in welds?

      Visual, in the case of this inspection.

    Zero degrees should be north/plant north, or however the vessel dwg is laid out…

      Dillon, this layout was plant north.
      I agree. Vessel (and tanks) layout should match an existing dwg or north, or the manway, whichever seems the most logical. The phrase I use when mentoring is "be most clear"..... meaning use what is the clearest, most unambiguous method.
