My first song to learn at guitar , seek and destroy forever in my heart
The first time Seek & Destroy was released to the masses as a recording, I believe, was on the Kill'em All L.P. 1983 maybe on the No Life Till Leather that they did in 1982, which was very limited. This concert was recorded during the And Justice For All tour, I was at that concert in Phoenix, AZ in Dec. 1988. And yes, it did leave a permanent mark on my memory😝🤘🤘🤘My ears are still ringing.
They are still very good and I respect them for whatever future projects they will do.
But Metallica at this time were GODS! Love from Sweden
Seen Metallica six times with Cliff, twice with Jason and Zero with Robert. My first show was November 1983, Berkeley Ca. Bay Area Thrash baby!
Now do some..Exodus, Testament, Machinehead, Death Angel
James Hetfield was from Downey, California which is a city just south of Los Angeles... he was raised in a conservative Christian science family broken by divorce and plagued w/ abuse.
Kirk Hammett (lead guitar) did not have it any better, raised in an abusive household in a Hispanic community of El Sobrante in California near San Francisco... he and James bonded because they suffered similar abusive situations growing up.
Lars Ulrich (drums) was from Denmark... he was an only child and his family moved to California when he was a teen.
My favorite track from Kill 'Em All. :-) Also the first Metallica song I learned on guitar. More proof that Diamond Head was a huge influence on Metallica. Check out Diamond Head's "Sucking My Love" (the 1980 version is preferable) to see where James got the idea for this song's main riff. ;-)
During Desert Storm this song was our breakaway song for Underway replenishment.

What a great energy the band had in stage, amazing, now is what? 20% of that? Great reaction.
I saw them about six months before this in NC. He actually handed down his can of beer and people were passing it around. Lol The place only seats about 4500 and was all general admission back then. You could get close. Maybe 3' between the stage and the fence. He literally handed down a beer. Lol It was pretty gross thinking about it now. Passing around a beer 20 people drank from. Them on stage headbanging, and their sweat flying all over us. Lol So hot they hosed us down numerous times. Then afterwards walk outside and its 30 degrees. I assume it was the quick temp change, mixed with the headbanging gave me a nosebleed. Lol Still probably my favorite Ive been to. Out of at least 30-40 concerts.
Also thought it was the Boogie rectifier era ( just listening , gonna check) but its raw and tight more than a II C + or the VH4 later and obviously the Fractal now
James' accent is So. Cal. from Downey - a bit of a twang from an old rural setting that probably doesn't exist there anymore but lived on in the language.
Sometimes he sounds straight up Canadian lol

Oh yeah, this is from the live album/box set "Live Shit: Binge & Purge." It's a set of videos and CD's that cost an absolute fortune back when I first got it as a teenager in the 90's (was almost $200). Watch more of their live stuff, especially from the little mini-documentaries from back then (Cunning Stunts, A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica). They were raging alcoholics, but they were hilarious. Also, James is from around Los Angeles, CA. Jason is from Michigan, Kirk is from California and Lars is from Denmark, though I can't remember where.

Maybe it's time you learn about the darkest moment in Metallica history. When James burned his arm so bad on stage that he almost couldn't play guitar anymore, and a random roadie saved the day and got to play with Metallica on stage for 6 months whole James just sang and had to relearn how to use his hand again. It was right around this time period when it happened

Cliffs death in a tour bus accident altered the band forever
And the burnt arm thing was the black album tour, not justice. The skateboard arm was masters tour

@markpaweena781 cliffs death was tragic af. But James losing his ability to play nearly ended their reign. Imo opinion makes it the darkest time in their history
