    Just replaced my switch, directions and guidance are spot on with the exception of the plug is glued in from the factory, nice even heat from a heat gun will help.

    One thing... You forgot to mention that almost ALL GM TRUCKS (92 to 99) have the connectors silicone glued to the PRNDL switch at the factory. It is nearly impossible to unplug those connectors without breaking the switch. Your truck obviously has had the PRNDL switch replaced previously, because the cable connectors were not glued in place. So the real replacement process needs to tell the end user that they can try to remove the cables, but the switch will break just behind the connector socket on the PRNDL switch.

      If u take a heat gun to the plugs it softens the glue and they pull right off then ieven had to heat some up to putt back on before even a good hair dryer will work

    Absolutely the best video I've seen on this repair. Probably one of the best repair/service videos I've seen, period. Clear step by step instructions. Well done.

    Honest question, wouldn't it save a step to start the job with the truck already in neutral?

    Will the neural safety switch not letting car start keep transmission from shifting out of n neutral if you jump the starter

  • @obrienwest3542
    @obrienwest3542 Před rokem +1

    If t this switch is not correct will it cause the transmission to not shift gears? Ex. 1st-2nd then not shift into 3rd or 4th

    Man I’m hoping you can help because no one else responded. I have a 97 k2500, the clutch only starts when in a very specific position and also will start in neutral. Starter is fine, ignition cylinder is brand new, distributor is brand new and cap/ root is great. Plugs and wires less that 50,000 miles. Is that a sign of something related to the clutch? Is there some sort of clutch safety switch on a manual transmission? I keep seeing the problem could be a clutch or neutral safety switch but only in automatics.

    Hey, would a bad neutral safety switch cause my 1998 K 2500 to go into drive intermittently while the vehicle is in neutral? I noticed when I had the rear end on stands, that if the vehicle is running and in neutral it kept engaging into drive on and off

    • @kylemilford5968
      @kylemilford5968 Před rokem +2

      No. But it's pretty normal for wheels to spin in neutral while free revving simply from the harmonics and friction drag

      @zaymoney1698 Před rokem

      I had the same problem and got a new cable and tightened up but it doesn’t go into park I mean it does but it doesn’t read it if that makes sense so Everytime I start it I have to put it in neutral

    I’m having issues starting my truck. 97 chevy. Everything in the starting system is new. Even the relay & ignition switch. Still nothing when I turn the key. But if I jump the relay it starts right up. Could this be my problem?
