    The Word on Fire was very beneficial in my conversion as well. I think perhaps Bishop Barron is a little off in accepting the Church’s teaching on the freeness of the saved, but I think his heart is in the right place, and he does want to see people know Christ more intimately. He has certainly helped me to do so

Bishop Barron is good but so is Sam Shamoun (though not family friendly) the biblical justification for Roman Catholic beliefs. He was born in the Assyrian church, became Baptist, then Calvanist and finally came back to seeing that the ancient churches held more of the truth.

    The Catholic Church was founded by Christ himself, when a person realizes that, then they can't say no, they have to go all in. I see why protestants have to find reasons and strawmen about catholicism, because it means a complete change and total acceptance, where as a protestant can be prideful and Church shop and pick and choose what they like to believe as you would at a cafeteria or supermarket.

    Adventist aren't the only ones that have talked about the Catholic church. I go to a church which is southern Baptist and in a young adult group we talked about Catholicism and even many reformed protestants have also stated some things about Catholicism. I am in no shape and form defending Adventists and I know many people here are going to say that, I know enough about Adventist and I don't agree with their theology. But I feel like its just Adventist in this video that are being called out. Statements about Catholicism go all the way back to Luther. The word protestant literally means to protest. Now of course I am not bashing you on your beliefs because that would be wrong of me to do. And as a Christ follower that I claim to be, showing disrespect towards somebody of a different faith is no way shape and form Christ like. I just wanted to say its not a Adventist thing, except for the part of uniting all religions together, that is all on them on that point. I respect you and hope you continue to grow. God Bless and Much love Brother

  • @nolanhollisvonesch3960

    Interesting videos Xander; you've had a very different experience than I did being raised as an SDA. (Of course, I was neither brought nor claim to be an orthodox Seventh Day Adventist.) I think a lot of people who attended La Sierra University when we did have left the SDA church for various reasons--some going to non-denominational churches (which I understand), others embracing secularism (which saddens me). I pray you find the peace, support, and intellectual stimulation you desire in the Roman Catholic church. Don't be disheartened should you encounter some of the same issues you're leaving behind in your new faith community.

      @@AlexanderKnecht1 I continue to attend LSU Church with my parents. I'm not sure what your experience was with Dr. Webster, but I enjoyed taking the Honors Religion course with him; his perspectives on traditional Adventist beliefs (explaining the position, its flaws, and, then, advocating for a different "like" position) helped me in a lot of ways. Certainly, I do not believe SDA is the "remnant" church, or, only true faith--I lean more with our peers who've moved to non-denominational churches.
      I came across your previous video here on CZcams and thought I should comment, both because I do not believe in coincidences Xander and I felt that many of the words others directed to you, especially SDAs were uncalled for--you should go to where you feel you are called. It seems the COVID-19 quarantine is impacting you (and your industry) substantially right now, but it seems you were doing well for yourself beforehand, which is good. I've often wondered how all of our Honors program peers were doing. I'm glad to see God is important to you--if you are searching for him, then your heart is in the right place.

    I was a Seventh-day Adventist for more than 10 years and I ended up leaving it mainly because I realized they were incorrect regarding their understanding of the Law (Torah) and the Ten Commandments. After leaving the denomination I began reading the Ante-Nicene Fathers and saw that the original Church looked nothing like I was used to. After years of reading, thinking, reflecting, and contemplation I came to the conclusion that the Holy Orthodox Church, and not the Roman Catholic Church, reflected the closest the mode and administration of the Church of the first millennium. My wife and I were received into the Holy Orthodox Church via holy chrism in 2017. I was wondering, do you know anything about the Orthodox Church? If you don't, then I'd recommend that you learn about it. I believe it is the original expression of catholicism as understood and articulated by St. Ignatius of Antioch in his letter to the Smyrnaeans, Chp 8, where the word "catholic" was first used in writing.

      Saint Irenaeus written 180 AD. book III, chapter 3 Against the Heresies. Search that. It’s short. But well worth the read. The bishop of Rome and the structure and succession Jesus Christ started

    • @justanotherlikeyou
      @justanotherlikeyou Před 4 měsíci

      @@CPATuttle That's a very well known passage from St. Irenaeus. There are a few things about it that are worth pointing out:
      1. St. Irenaeus says that the Church of Rome was founded by _both_ Peter _and_ Paul together. This will be important in a moment.
      2. Regarding what he says about every Church must agree with Rome due to its preeminent authority, for St. Irenaeus this makes perfect sense since he, being in Lyons, France, was much closer in proximity to Rome than to any of the other Apostolic Churches. Look at a map, he was literally thousands of miles from the other Apostolic Churches while Rome was much closer. So of course he would make recourse to Rome since it was the closest and oldest Apostolic Church to him. His statement could have simply meant that every Church in the western part of the empire should agree with Rome and that would make sense. But even if we take it to mean that he was speaking of every Church in the world, even those Apostolic Churches of the east, we see that those same Apostolic Churches, when they held their Ecumenical Councils, plainly didn't agree with St. Irenaeus' sentiment. Take your pick.
      3. Chp. 3 Paragraph 3 is where the Roman Catholic position really starts to fall apart. First, he says that when the Apostles [Peter & Paul previously mentioned] had founded and built up the Church of Rome they appointed Linus to the office of the episcopate. He then says Anacletus succeeded him, and Clement succeeded him _in the third place_ from the Apostles. First, notice that St. Irenaeus says that Linus, and not Peter, was the first bishop of Rome. Second, notice that he says Clement, the third bishop of Rome, was third from the Apostles (i.e. plural) meaning not just from one. The Apostles mentioned here would obviously have been Peter and Paul as previously mentioned. There is no reading of St. Irenaeus for the Roman Catholic that makes St. Peter the first bishop or pope of Rome, and that is necessary to the entire Papal scheme.
      At the end of the day we need to keep in mind that St. Irenaeus was writing against heretics and he was using arguments to convince them. He was obviously speaking from the tradition he had received about the Church of Rome, that it was founded by two of the most famous Apostles, Peter and Paul, and that they appointed its very first bishop, Linus. This gives the Church of Rome a preeminece in the mind. After all, no other Church in the world could be said to have been founded by both Peter and Paul, let alone inaugurate its episcopate themselves. This was a big deal in St. Irenaeus' mind, and it certainly is a big deal and helps explain why Rome is spoken of so lofty in other places, but it doesn't go as far as Roman Catholics want it to go, so they dismiss the parts of it they don't want while focusing on the part they do. It doesn't work that way, and that's why it's never been convincing to the Orthodox side.

    • @CPATuttle
      @CPATuttle Před 4 měsíci

      @@justanotherlikeyouThere's no way Saint Irenaeus cannot give Saint Pual credit for what he did starting the church in Rome. This is aside from the office of Saint Peter.
      Instead of fighting Saint Irenaeus words. Take it as plain value. Every church must submit to this bishop. This is Jesus's structure. He didn't say " only this jurisdiction " you're adding this.
      And yes this universal authority of the bishop of Rome is practiced at Eccumenical councils.
      It's eaither Jesus wants someone in charge of his church like he says to Peter given the keys to loose and bind.
      Or you have this voting system set by an even number of apostles to begin with. And there's no logic in that working with it's successors. There's no limit in the number of bishops. Looks at the result of Orthodox. There's Oriental, Eastern, Russia split, you have Assyrian church of the East with apostolic succession.

    • @justanotherlikeyou
      @justanotherlikeyou Před 4 měsíci

      @@CPATuttle St. Irenaeus said in chapter 3 paragraph 3 that Linus, and not Peter, was the first bishop of Rome. Do you accept this? If you do, then it's devasting to your case because for the papal system to work you _must_ have St. Peter be the first Pope. If you don't, then you're just picking and choosing what you want from St. Irenaeus and your argument is invalid.
      Ecumenical Councils routinely did things on their own without recourse to the Pope's supposed universal authority. Here are a few examples:
      1. Constantinople I (2nd Ecumenical Council) canon 3 states that the Church of Constantinople would be second after Rome. Rome didn't like this canon, but that didn't stop the eastern Sees from implementing it, which they did. Chalcedon (4th Ecumenical Council) canon 28 states that the Church of Rome had the first place only because it was in the capital of the Empire. It also says that the Fathers of the previous Councils had granted the Church of Rome privileges. Rome certainly didn't like this canon, but again that didn't stop the Churches of the east from including it as an official canon of the Council with full ecumenicity.
      2. Constantinople III (6th Ecumenical Council) anathematized Pope Honorius as a heretic.
      Your lumping of the Orthodox with the Nestorians and Non-Chalcedonians is ridiculous and shows that you don't know what you're talking about. Furthermore, you mention the "Russian split" as though that's a ding against the Church. How is that different from any other time in the history of the Church? You probably didn't know that the schism between the Church of Antioch and the Church of Jerusalem, which lasted nearly 10 years, was just healed in 2023. The history of the Church is a very messy affair, and it's been so from the beginning.

    666, refers to Solomon 1 King 10:14, 1 Chron 9:13
    Sounds like the RCC. Gods Man corrupting Himself with the World.
    If we look back at the law for kings in Deuteronomy 17, It prohibits the king from multiplying horses and chariots, wives, and wealth. This is exactly what Solomon is doing in 1 Kings 10-11. Chapter ten begins by commending his great wisdom, but then steps through his decline - that is, he begins violating the rules for kings by multiplying gold (666 talents a year), multiplying horses and chariots, and finally multiplying wives who turn his heart away from following Yahweh. He sets up centers of false worship for all the foreign gods of his wives. So, the number 666 is associated with Solomon in his fall, his abuse of power, and his turning away from true worship of Yahweh.

    The whole problem with the Catholic Church is the Bible says the Seventh Day is the Sabbath and the Catholic Pope changed the sanctity from the Seventh Day to the First day (Sunday) in the year 336 AD. The history of SUN DAY is the Roman worship of the SUN on the first day of the week thus the name of the 1st Day SUNDAY. Freedom of religion in the USA gives you the right to worship on the Roman Catholic sabbath or you can worship on the Seventh Day Sabbath as listed in the Ten Commandments.

      BROTHER I AM AN ADVENTIST BUT I HAVE TO TELL YOU THIS... let me tell you the REAL TRUTH .... and the Revelation you never know in your life as an Adventist.... CATHOLISM had never changed anything: the whole world is known as Gentiles apart from God's people Jewish.. GOD'S VISION IS FOR THE WHOLE WORLD IS TO BROAD THEREFORE IN ORDER FOR THE GOSPEL TO REACH THE GENTILES HE HAS TO NUTRALIZE THE JEWISH TRADITIONS SO THAT THE GENTILE WOULD RECEIVE A NEUTRAL GOSPEL... NOT THE GOSPEL TIRED TO JEWISH TRADITIONS THAT WOULD CREATE BARRIERS....
      NOW I WANT TO REVEAL TO YOU DEEPER REVELATION... GOD HIMSELF CHANGED THE SATURDAY TO SUNDAY THROUGH HIS DEATH AND RESSURECTION... HE SANCTIFIED SUNDAY THROUGH HIS RESSURECTION::: THE FIRST SABBATH WAS PLAIN THEOLOGY BUT THE REAL SABBATH IS SUNDAY... KNOWINGLY GOD GAVE THE GENTILES SUN GOD AS A COMMON GOD OF THE WORLD AS HISTORY PROVES AND.... ITS NOT ONLY ROMAN THAT WORSHIP THE SUN GOD... SOMETIMES ADVENTIST NEED TO ADMIT THE TRUTH...
      WHY DID ADVENTIST LIKE TO DESTROY CATHOLISM ALL THE TIME.. THIS IS THE ONLY AGENDA THAT BEGS SO MUCH QUESTION::
      I AM AN ADVENTIST BUT SOMETIMES WE REALLY NEED TO ADMIT,, HUMBLE OURSELVES... FROM PRIDE... WE ARE ALWAYS DOING OPPOSITE....

READ MAT: 21: 43-44 HE SAID THE KINGDOM OF GOD WILL BE TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU AND BE GIVEN TO A NATION THAT WOULD BEAR FRUIT 🍓 🍑
      JESUS KNEW THE JEWISH WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE GOSPEL THEREFORE HE SURPRESSED THEM BY ALLOWING THE ROMAN TO DESTROY THE TEMPLE IN AD 69 AND HE ONLY TAKE OUT ONE OF THE KEY MAN IN JUDAISM ST PAUL.. FOR THE GENTILE MISSION.. IN THE SAME WAY JESUS TOOK ST PAUL OUT.. HE DID THE SAME WITH ROMAN EMPEROR CONSTANTINE... IN THOSE DAYS ST PAUL WENT TO THE SYNAGOGUES TO CONVINCE JEWISH TO BECOME CHRISTIANS AND NOT TO REMAIN IN JUDAISM.... BUT PAUL TRIED MANY TIMES TO CONVERT THE JEWISH IT FAILED AND INSTEAD THEY CHASED HIM EVERY WHERE... READ THE ACTS CHAPTER 9-20 AND CONFIRM IT YOUR SELF.
