Kenneth Grant #78 only a true sophomore
Mason Graham #55 right next to him also a true sophmore
Harbaugh is an unbelievable talent evaluator and developer
Michigan is one of those rare teams that pulls starters early throughout the reg season & plays everyone
Michigan also rotates all 11 guys on defense throughout the season..plays 7 olineman too (keeps players out of the portal/develops guys faster)
Other teams are more concerned with how the final score looks and getting their starters stats.

Washington gap control was absolutely Brutal in the 1st quarter. Michigan got away from the double team blocking plays. If Michigan didn't try and get to cute. It would have been a blow out by half time. Washington isn't built for bully ball.

It reminds me of what happened to Michigan when Rich Rod took over. He tried to bring Virginia’s style of play in. All the bruisers in the league kicked their butts and set em back. We finally reached this pinnacle of doing all the bruising! The B1G should change the logo to something spelling HUGE and maybe even incorporate a little of the old PAC 12 logo.

@atbsigma don't remind me of the dark days that's because Vince Young was killing everyone with that read option stuff including Michigan when he ran and passed all over us in the rose bowl. So Michigan thought they would go and hire the so called master of the read option/ wildcats stuff. That basically put the program back big time. I love the fact Jim went back to old school hat on a hat play on both sides of the ball. Coach bo would be very proud of this team and the job this coaching staff did.

I think Moore likes to find weaknesses and then save exploiting them until it matters most. In every game we needed to score late, he always put together the drive that worked early in the game. Like he didn't want to give the opposing defense too many chances to adjust.

a little more focus on the defense would be nice, especially since UW was supposed to have the best O-line in college football this season and they didn't do much of a job protecting penix. they had the ball 13 times and managed only 13 points. i'd say looking at what jesse minter did as the UM DC deserved a lot more attention.

  • @redhunnid5142

Michael Penix got exposed for the first time in this game all season. The plays Washington Offensive Coordinator was calling were great plays. Ryan Grubb had guys open all game long but Michigan’s D line was overwhelming Washington’s O line.
This game showed me if Penix gets pressured he misses so many reads and forces so many throws. Pressure absolutely destroys his decision making and accuracy.
So a good D line will destroy Penix that’s all I needed to know watching that game. He can’t perform well under pressure. He makes so many rushed irrational decisions and throws inaccurate passes or misses them completely.

Michigan played well and UW played poorly. UW’s D wasn’t staying sound in the first quarter but once they did, they locked up UM for 2.5 straight quarters. Meanwhile, UW’s offense was schemed well to beat Michigan. They had receivers getting open all night. However, UM’s d-line, more specifically, their d-tackle made it so Penix didn’t have a lot of time to throw. However, we’ve seen this before and Penix has gotten the ball out quick and accurately. Penix also missed several wide open throws un-pressured that he almost always makes.
I knew we were in trouble when I saw Penix throwing high and behind the receivers from the get go. He’s had games like that before. The mid-season slump for Penix was a real thing. Some games he is just off and other games he puts that ball in the tightest of windows. He also tends to throw with so much velocity that when he is off, his receivers can’t really do much adjustment to the ball. The team overcame his bad games with the run game, but with DJ running at about 50 percent out there and losing Cam in the preseason, we had no other backs that stepped up to make it happen. It really sucks that DJ got re-injured in the 1st quarter of that Texas game and then again in the 4th quarter. I would have loved for the country to see what that kid can really do.
If DJ was healthy, that Michigan defense ain’t gonna get to T off on the QB like that. If Penix brought his A game and not his D game, then it wouldn’t have mattered. Shoot, if Penix just hits a few wide open deep balls when the defense doesn’t get home then UW still wins. It really sucks that they couldn’t bring their A game. Michigan played well and deserved to win that game but I honestly feel like UM was an easier matchup for UW than Texas. I knew UW’s D was gonna get some stops on Michigan. Knowing that Penix was a few wide open throws away from UW going into the 4th up by 2 scores was awful.
I wasn’t too worried about the ASU game, despite the offense performing horribly, because of the context. The game that got me worried was how UW played for WSU. When I saw that…..I was like….”oh no, we might choke.” Then, we showed up for the Oregon game and the Texas game so I was hoping we were past it….anyway, congratulations to Michigan on earning themselves a Natty. If you want to win championships then you gotta show up when the lights at brightest and they did.

Donovan Edwards really needs to work on his vision before he can be an every down back. That first TD is how he sees holes. He doesn't. The second TD was his best run and had a good cutback

    • @ChicagoSteve
      @ChicagoSteve Před 5 měsíci +2

I didn't realize how explosive that jump cut was on Edwards's second TD on the right side. The springs on his (and Blake's) legs are a testament to the strength and conditioning at the foundation of this team.

You obviously don’t watch Michigan football enough if you think he’s lacking in vision, only weakness in his game is physicality or being a main 3 down back. It’s a reason he pops off these untouched long runs like he did in the natty and against that scarlet team down south(last year) 👀 Speed, Vision, and Catching is his best assets

What is your honest opinion of the PAC and defense? I think they are uniformly poor, which allows QBs toplight up the scoreboard and look invincible. I think Penix got exposed. He is good, but anyone can be great in the PAC playing against teams that only care about highlight reel passing and defense is apparently optional. USC, Oregon and WA.
Penix was in the B1G and left, Nix was in the SEC and left. Both looked incredible in the PAC, but not as great in their former conferences.
