    Beautiful words at the end from Hamish, as an Aussie that has watched every Celtic game since ange arrived Celtic has become another very close Club to my heart, I'll never leave. Celtic gave Ange the platform he and Australia needed to finally break through that European Football ceiling and we as a Nation will be forever grateful. 67 Hail Hail has been my channel of choice and will continue to watch and support you guys. I’m also an Aussie Celtic supporter and have been a fan ever since the viduka days! Proud of our Aussie Celtic connection. We never stop! PS. Ange is not a supporter or Celtic fan, he is a manager who managed our club and wants to go to what we have to say is the biggest league in the world. As fans we get emotional about our club but we have to remember he’s a foreign coach with no ties to any club out side our where he grew up. Good luck Ange and thank you for your time.

    As another Aussie, I also signed on with Celtic when Ange arrived. I will continue to support your great Club. I know how many Celtic fans will feel. When he left Melbourne Victory, I felt a sense of betrayal, loss, even anger. How could he leave our great Club? But over time I mellowed and gained some perspective. He is an ambitious man; he is on a journey. So don’t think of him badly. He gave his all across 2 wonderful years with Celtic. Enjoy the memories, the success and look to the future. The sun will rise tomorrow, Celtic Football Club will survive and prosper. There will be a time of adjustment but the Club will be okay. All the best from the great southern land.

    Yes as another Aussie I joined here with Ange and will still be following Celtic.
    I feel a bit guilty Hamish that he's left Celtic, but don't think he knew until 2 months ago maybe.
    We too were devastated when he left the Socceroos just before a World Cup ! Although there were people on his back in Australia criticising him everyday !
    I'm proud of the Celtic fans all learning quick to support him and value his skills as a coach.
    Ange besides personal - has something of a Duty to put Australian Football and Coaching on the world map as Kewell did as a player !
    Many in Australia and the world still don't give Ange credit and say SPL is a 2 horse race. So he needs to change that.
    Anyway, I think a lot of us Aussies will still be here long after Ange is gone from Celtic - supporting Celtic ! I Love Celtic !
    I did want to see him take Celtic to Champions League QF's or SF's though and thought he would !

    I’m an Aussie Tim who has been supporting Celtic since Tom Rogic started playing for the team. Im also a Spurs fan and big Ange fan. I’ve known that Ange’s agent has long term links to both Spurs and Arsenal and when Conti decided to leave I called it as a big possibility but thought it would not happen for at least another year or so. It would be so hard being in his position but he has done a fantastic job at Celtic Hamish. You should be proud of the job. You have done on the channel as you bought so many Aussie viewers on board and made our bond with the club, even stronger. Our strong support of the club continues.

    When Ange signed I had no idea who he was and what we could bring. Great managers often say "I want to leave the club in a better place than I found it". Bhoy has he left it in a better way than when he found it. Celtic provided Ange with a European platform to show his skills off and he has delivered. I wish Ange all the very best and I'm excited to see who follows Ange.

    Hamish hit the nail on the head. It's NEVER been about the money for Ange, it's always been about the challenge and it would be near impossible to turn down a once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity like this one, especially as he's not getting any younger. As an Australian, and this is true of many other Australians, it's been an absolute pleasure watching Ange at Celtic, so thank you so much for giving him the opportunity and actually leading him into the position he's going to fulfill at the EPL. I'm sure his time at Celtic will remain as a much cherished highlight of his football career, you could see that he was in his element at Celtic FC and truly had an affinity for the club, which I'm sure he'll retain forever. I feel sad ATM too because Celtic has entered our hearts here in Australia and we still want you to succeed, but also wish Ange the best and want him to reach for the stars and succeed.

    I think Hamish's take is pretty spot on.
    What annoys me is just the way that all the manky EPL money from the likes of Sky (i.e.- from the Murdoch press 🤮) and BT (i.e.- the current owners of a company that used to be a national asset but was flogged off by Thatcher and Major 🤮) means that all of these English teams who were nothing before the Premier League era; just local teams with no grand history, no social/cultural/historical/political relevance, and no grand achievements, can become almost impossible to turn down for people at a club like Celtic who want to test themselves at the top.
    It is just sad. Depressing, even.

    I fall in the middle ground. I wish him all the luck with his career in England and I (grudgingly) hope he's made the right decision HOWEVER what I have an issue with is the lack of consideration to the fans from both Ange and Celtic. By refusing to answer the questions (I get they have to be careful in case the deal falls through) but just say yes I'm in talks or no I'll be here next season, it was at a point that even if the deal fell through all the media speculation had made supporters believe he didn't want to be here so where's the issue. He used the cup final as an excuse but even when he didn't have that he took the cowards way out. He's sneaking out the back door which wreaks of abandoning the supporters who, as you say, have idolised him for the last 2 years. The way it has been handled, for me, has tarnished his legacy at Celtic. Forget the "you'll be surprised how long I'm here quote" I remember in an interview on Celtics CZcams he said "I'll be here until they don't want me here anymore" complete 🐂💩, feels very sleekit

      Mate, if Ange did what you suggested, can you imagine the impact it would have on the players, staff, fans and the media would blow the story up tenfold. It wouldn't be about winning the league and Scottish cup anymore, it would be the worst distraction ever. I think the fact he stayed focus on doing what he was hired to do and got it done was the most responsible thing he could do under the circumstances. Sure, I'd like to see where he could have taken us in the CL but he had 12 month rolling contract and he completed it without doing a runner mid season. I get you're upset and angry cause you admired what what he achieved for us but acknowledge the great he did for our football club...

    • @nikkikirk1985
      @nikkikirk1985 Před 11 měsíci

      @Power Chord it's nothing to do with being grateful we had him. He has done great things for Celtic the issue I have is the lack of empathy for the fans from both Ange and Celtic. Fans shouldn't be left feeling "oh well I should be grateful we had him" they should be left feeling like a legend has been at CFC, right now the way it's been dealt with, I just see him as a really good manager we've had and no longer a legend. Legends don't disregard the people that have supported them for 2 years, they don't sneak out the back door like a coward, they celebrate the end of their time at Celtic with the fans. Ange hasn't done this at all and has taken that option away from the fans for his own selfish reasons.

    Aussie here. Celtic have been amazing. I was down the pub with the Celtic supporters group nights from the time Ange was supported. It was just after Covid, and I was embraced by you lot. A really special club. If I'm honest, I won't be getting up at 2 in the morning to watch a dour away game to Ross County in the rain. I'll probably be tuned into Spurs. Your words, "He's been turned by the English" make you sound as if you're riddled with a severe dose of racism. 🙄 Or was that a slip in your tone. His head was "turned" by ambition! Of which there is a clear absence on the Celtic board; particularly in Dermot Desmond. Celtic have the money, for sure now! They could easily have made a serious attempt to double, or treble the normal budget on players to keep the best manager since Jock Stein; but I seriously doubt they did that, or ever will. They have no ambition for Europe, Scottish success is enough for them. But for Ange, he wants to win the Champions League -- and he believes he can do it in England!

Ange served his time brilliantly and was the perfect manager to come in after the disastrous ten in a row. Sucks he leaves before seeing what improvement the team had made in the CL group stages.
    Genuinely feel he made those comments because he never thought an opportunity such as spurs (to turn around a fallen top 6 EPL side) would come as quickly as it did.
    He restored pride in the club, Brought success and professionalism to the club and in a style that excited the fans.
    He also took no crap from the media and rattled the blue half constantly.
    What’s Most pleasing to see is the defence Celtic fans mount on behalf of Ange when spurs fans question his ability and standing in the game.
    Two short years ago we told you so, and now you’re telling Spurs fans.
    You’ve become honorary Aussies in that regard.

    Do not be disappointed. Ange stabilised Celtic and did a terrific job, but if you are honest with yourself, there is not much higher he can go further. You all need a huge investment to be able to pass the group stage in CHL, and sadly the Scottish PL is not very attractive if any Premier League top team shows interest. It is the same with players, one larger club (talking mainly financially here) comes from a better league, and there is no way you can keep them here. Winning your league will not be an issue, and delivering in CHL will be a huge challenge now because even the weakest opponents could be at least the same standard as Celtic. Last year you had a taste, and you were competitive without much result. Hopefully, you learnt a lot, and I hope you can get 3rd position and keep going in Euro League. Wish you the best of luck.

    • @stefans9697
      @stefans9697 Před 11 měsíci

      @@ardlersaint9429 You are right and not right at the same time. More money to raise for transfers would be necessary but having the right players who wish to come to Scottish PL would limit your choice(very tricky to get the right, motivated squad). Agree that Ange is not legendary because 2 years in one club is far from this. He would be if he could bring results in CHL, meaning go to the KO stage and win at least a round more than once. Nevertheless, he was one of your best managers for a long, I found him a lot better than Lennon.

    • @stefans9697
      @stefans9697 Před 11 měsíci

      @@joemcb Agree, he played more honest football and had a less anti, overly defensive style than his predecessors. He had a vision but not the quality of players for such a level. For instance, Kiogo stands out in SPL, competitive in Europe League, but not so special in the CHL group stage. It applies to all your players, and I agree that with more defensive, counter-attack style would suit you here more and perhaps get you a few more points too. Not sure if your fans would prefer it this way? Still, a long way to go to successfully qualify/survive the group stage because the standards are a lot higher.

      Tearing journalists apart only works when you have a team tearing the league up on the pitch 🍀

    There is no reason, no reason at all, for Celtic fans to be angry. Ange came in on a rolling non-secure deal, backed himself, and succeeded. The man has ambition to prove himself on the biggest stage, which in Europe is the EPL, and you can't hold that against him. He very clearly loves Celtic, and this doesn't change that, but what else is there to achieve? Sure, he could stay and guide Celtic through another European campaign, but if we're being honest with ourselves the simple fact is that Celtic are fighting the other teams with bows and arrows, while they have cannons.... financially speaking. The best we could hope for with this squad and this budget even WITH Ange is maybe getting into the knockout stage. It's not 1967 anymore.
    I wish Ange well, and hope that Celtic find a manager who will stick with Ange's style of football which clearly works for this playing group.

      @@conorsullivan8134 I was thinking the same this morning. However, from what most Spurs fans are saying CCV will not be coming back. They will spend in the summer and replace their French goalie and a solid center back. Also, we should feel secure that all of our Japanese players will not be off to the EPL. They are not built strong enough to compete week in week out down there. Hey ! we might land a better manager than Ange, let's see.

      @@jimreilly6933 I think Bodo Glimt guy could work. Small market team that punches above its weight in Europe. I think he would have a lot of info on good young European players to improve our play in Europe

      Why is a rolling contract not secure?

  • @HearszAM
    @HearszAM Před 11 měsíci +1

    Surprised that there was no mention by Hamish of the Celtic's boards' failure to offer Ange a more permanent contract at the club last season after doing the double.
    To keep him on a rolling contract into this season was absolutely criminal, and the club have missed out on decent compensation due to such negligence.
    Looking at it that way, there shouldn't be any fence-sitting. The board caused this to happen.
    It's as simple as that.
    Celtic fans can be upset all they like about Ange leaving so abruptly, however, their anger should really be at the board for not showing any real faith in him when it mattered most, despite that first-season success.
    Also, you can hardly blame Ange for wanting to leave when he's been coaching for 26 years.
    He may never get a better chance to manage a PL club, certainly not one bigger than Spurs.
    The guy loves a challenge, and at the moment, they don't come much bigger than managing Tottenham.
