    One thing I appreciate about you guys is that you do a lot to change the 'ugly-American-tourist' way of being. I used to travel a lot many years ago and I would often cringe when observing people from the U.S. Mostly because of their seeming arrogant and entitled . You two aren't like that . You're respectful and warm and polite when relating to people in the countries you visit .

    In November 1989 the wall came down in Berlin and my dad thought it would be a good idea to drag me and my sister down there (we're Swedish, hence down) to celebrate new years eve on Brandenburger Tor. It was a crazy experience and when we got there people were still cutting down the wall so we got to see it with our own eyes and I bought a kilo of wall grout as a memento. I remember that there were guards with machine guns patrolling the subway cars as we travelled between the east and west parts of Berlin and that no one actually knew what the hell was going on and what the future would bring. All in all is one of my most memorable traveling experiences to date and I hope that I get to see a Korean unification within my lifespan. If it hapends I will drag my kids there to experience it on the spot...

I was there in November 2017 and we weren’t allowed in the conference area (I think because tensions were high due to a recent defector) so we only saw the tunnel, train station and lookout tower.

      Please reconsider. North Korea isn't supposed to be a country on anyone's "bucket list" to cross off. This country is literally the site of one of the greatest human rights violations in recent history. They have concentration camps defectors have compared to Nazi camps, starvation to the point of the average North Korean being significantly shorter than the average south Korean due to malnutrition, and a regime so oppressive and manipulative the average person there doesn't even realize how much their life sucks because they have no connection to the rest of the world. Going there as a tourist and publishing videos of the places they have deemed acceptable for tourists to film is only furthering their disgusting "everything is fine here" propaganda

My dad was active duty Col and he wasn’t allowed to go because who he was and what he did. I was 21 with shoulder length hair, it was 81! Typical 21 yr old lol. Anyway it was crazy! Armed police and military everywhere! I tried to exchange money and they wanted my passport. We were warned not to let anyone take your passport because people disappear for days.....so I didn’t let it out of my hands. They finally let me exchange money. It was so stark, grey and silver buildings, no colors. Clothes were all drab, only smiles I saw were westerners who were buying cheap things in East like comforters....I’ll never forget...what an experience!!

There is tremendous interest in North Korea as evidenced by the tourism to both the North Korea/South Korea border and the North Korea/China video. I also watched Fun For Louis travel to NK on a surfing tour and JaYoe (Matt) travel to NK for a marathon. Ive also watched a few journalism tours of NK (Vice magazine). I find the place fascinating but it's not on my bucketlist for the reason the every single visit I see goes to the same places with extremely little "exploring", and the food sucks.

    If anyone is interested in learning more about just a small portion of what North Koreans are forced to live through I read a book called "A River in Darkness". It is an autobiography about a boy growing up there and his journey to leave. It was so incredibly heart wrenching and it really opened my eyes to how the citizens of North Korea are treated

    Remember that college kid named Otto who went to North Korea yet was detained in prison because he took a poster on a wall. North Korea returned his body to America a couple years later, dead. North Korea is intense. I would never do this, it is too much of a risk. Yet I am happy you both made it out okay.

    This is such an interesting video! I'm so glad you did this as I've been wanting to know more and more about trips into North Korea since I recently watched FunForLouis' videos when he went there. I don't think I'd have to guts to visit the country myself, I'd end up doing something wrong by accident, but I would totally love to do this trip you guys did!

      By touring North Korea you'd support their horrible regime. They don't believe in human rights and make their people suffer...Why would you want to support human injustice like that? What about all the people in the work camps? FunForLouis vlogs are nothing more than self promotion for himself. If he really cared about people he wouldn't have visited a country that abuses its power and also abuses and subjects their people to terrible living conditions and punishments. Plus that tour he was on didn't show any of that, yet was a cookie cutter version of north korea which is just a façade.

    • @WiiTiffTiff
      @WiiTiffTiff Před 6 lety +1

      John,
      I never told them to not express her opinion and I never said their opinions were wrong. But lets be real north korea is terrible to its people and by visiting their country that money you'd spend would go towards that. Also I never talked about safety in america compared to north korea so I'm not sure why you put that in your argument. That had NOTHING to do with what I said. But you can't ignore the fact that North Korea violates a lot of human rights. If its so "safe" then why don't you move there? So next time you want to be a keyboard warrior I suggest you actually respond to what I had mentioned in my comment.

      @@djlawlz4041 I have a better solution. Advertising yourself in comments wouldn't get you very far, especially if your content is unrelated to the video (take this vid for example, if your channel have no vids that is to do with travelling, and it's not in the topic that the OC is talking about, then don't do it.). I am also a fellow content creator that shares that dream, but here's an advice. Keep on trying your best to make a video at the best of your possibilities. Quality over quantity.
