There is also the Low Energy Superconducter mod this season that lets you stun Unstoppables with Arc melees. As long as you save the melee for the champions you can definitely still contribute with that.
Very therapeutic watching the Unstop Ogres in the Seraph playlist take a knee then eat shit, especially since Sunstar is rebating me energy so much so often.
That's what I was gonna say too. That's what I use. 1 capacity on my bond? Sure. No problem. Sure beats 7 capacity on my arms. Seriously wtf is up with that grenade launcher mod...
I know this video is about Coldheart, but Delecate Tomb also works really well with this Warlock ionic trace synergy. Even more options for build crafting.
I liked using the suped up pulse grenades on Titan. They generate ionic traces when they damage a target, so they basically allow you to spam Delecate Tomb's amped shot.
@@bonebreaker9103 This in practice is not an issue. The reason pulse nade is good is because it activates instantly so you can treat it like a stick on 1 enemy and let the jolt kill everything else. I do think its worse than storm on titan but for warlock its the go to.
Fusion Rifles are my favourite special weapons (with Telesto being my favourite exotic across D1 and D2) and I've got to say that last season using Delicate Tomb and the Falling Sunstar helmet, I had a LOT of fun. That was such a great combination, and having non-stop ionic traces made the build incredibly fun in every type of content, even used it in a couple of GMs.
I’ve been running this exact built since the season started, and it’s a blast. I’ve always been an Arclock main, and between this, the Cloudstrike catalyst, and Grand Overture buff, I have been eating GOOD.
@@thebygoneking I got a dropped trace rifle with voltshot, it was the star of my arc lock build until I got the ikelos smg with voltshot. I love the trace rifle gunplay though so its time to bring out coldheart
I've always liked Coldheart, but its honestly always going to be going up against Witherhoard, which has been my favorite exotic since it came out. Especially with Weakened Clear being around, its hard to really unstaple my baby from my exotic slot.
Ikelos smg can now roll/be crafted with voltshot. Could take coldhearts place reasonably well in the build and still allow you to run Witherhoard. Arc locks are very flexible this season.
This is why I think arc & void warlocks will really shine when HOIL titans & other abilities/regen are eventually nerfed. They're both solid classes with good loops and flexibility. If HOIL got gutted or enhanced arc nades got nerfed, arc titans turn into a pretty meh class overall. But warlocks have a lot more tools and none of it is tied to a particular exotic, well mod, or aspect/fragment. They'd need to nerf like half a dozen things to really tear the class down. And ya, super damage sucks blah blah blah. Classes are more than a high damage burst super.
@jerryballstein dunno why everyone is acting like warlocks need titans nerfed to shine in content. It's such a stupid ass way of comparing. Contraverse locks are still op in general. Arc isn't going to change because Titans get nerfed. Such a weird take to have. Seems you hate titans which I'd also say is dumb.
I've run bits and pieces of this build since mid S18 (a little Coldheart here, some Fallen Sunstar there, and some Crown of Tempests when I feel like giving adds the ultimate punishment of perpetual tickling). But seeing it all together is just amazing to behold. The one thing that would complete this already complete build is S17's Trace Rifle Overload mod. Even though Arc 3.0 hadn't come out at the time, I still used Coldheart in Nightmare Containment and some Arc burn NFs throughout the season and enjoyed it quite a bit. Love the use of blinding in this build, not what I was expecting at all. Maybe a good rendition of this build in terms of weapons to accompany Coldheart in S19 would be an Unstoppable Kinetic/Stasis Blinding GL since Bungie's made Blinding nades actually synergize with Arc Blinding effects, and maybe Chain of Command for Adaptive Munitions or building further into grenade related stuff. Great video Datto, anything showcased that's even pretty close to being as strong as the Titan Heart of Inmost Light build is an amazing (and refreshing) thing to watch.
Agers Scepter works in a similar way with stasis crystals. Stasis crystal giving both high energy fire and font. Abilities buffing weapon damage with monochromatic maestro. Plus its super using alt fire. With warlocks the alt fire will continually generate crystals from freezing to keep buffs active.
Thanks for this! Whenever I feel like trace rifles, it's hard to turn away from Agers scepter with glacial harvest and the chain reaction shattering joy it brings. But I am excited to try a similar playstyle with arc.
Just picked up destiny again after stopping in year one - found cold heart in my vault and remembered how much fun it was. As I started to level up and learn about build crafting, the first idea I had was to combine coldheart with my arc warlock - I also just picked up the stag from an exotic engram and I LOVE arc souls - it’s so funny then to come across this video, datto recommending something that I just concocted out of sheer love for this weapon
Between this build and the Stasis Warlock + Ager's sceptor build, warlocks are definitely the play if you love trace rifles. They are in a pretty good spot right now and are a ton of fun to use.
Love the excitement in your voice. Makes watching videos more enjoyable in contrast to the constant negative videos on destiny lately from other sources. I know Datto's been less than enthusiastic in the past but this is a really nice refreshing change.
If you're looking to speed run heists btw, use half truths, the arc dares sword. Its heavy one shots the charged majors in the boss room letting you just dunk on them and store 5 charges in under a minute.
When you said to use what exotic you want and make it fit your play style I honestly smiled, it always makes me happy when I can run my transverses steps whenever I want without it messing with my build
Barrier champions are easy to deal with without the anti-barrier mod. Since you're running arc subclass you could just equip the Unstoppable melee mod for arc and run a overload primary. That leaves your heavy open for whatever you're in the mood for. I would like to say that Coldheart pairs nicely with stasis hunter for that ability regen that the subclass lacks, either to support a renewal grasp build or a bakris build and both of those could run with the overload/unstoppable grenade/melee mods and run with a anti-barrier primary. Viola! You're covering all three champions in one build whilst slowing everything with the short cooldown on duskfield grenade thanks to Coldheart's ionic trace.
Hell, I suggest trying Coldheart even as other classes and subclasses as well. It's a great special ammo weapon for doing single target damage and it helps your ability regeneration by a big amount, especially if you are arc subclass. I use it on my arc Titan grenade build with heart of inmost light. I just pretty much spam my grenades and coldheart pretty much. For Hunters, I suggest Delicate Tomb is a better weapon for them since they are all about being in close. Big thing is that Bungie needs to have all anti-champion mods to be available.
8:00 YES this exactly!! This also helps us casuals out who don't have all the exotics in the game, so for builds which require one particular exotic that we don't have, we're SOL. This lets us also get in on the action using the exotics we do have. As a warlock main, this really excites me!
Fragment wise, I've been running basically this build on Titan since last season. Is it as crazy as it can get for Warlocks? Obviously not. Is it still hot? Yes. Coldheart is a gun with a lot of utility and it really does get slept on in favour of more flashy rivals, but damn. Meat and potatoes damage dealing and ability spam enablement, two big ticks right there. The right fragments give you huge amounts of crowd control too. 100% love this video getting the good word about Coldheart out there.
Glad to see this build getting traction! I love running Cold heart with Getaway Artist and Blinding Grenades with the grenade jolt fragment, normally run a scout/smg and heavy gl for Champs, it's been so nice to have a death laser constantly
I’ve ran an agers build extremely similar to this and have been running it since lost, and the ammo problem can be solved by the “generate ammo on void weapon kills” and running the hunt void wave frame gl (now obtained in dares) and having a well to charge with light mod to keep it up. smokes high end content too
The nice thing about this build, jolt will stun overloads and blind will stun unstoppable. for warlocks you can also put on rain of fire and a fusion rifle for radiant because that will stun barrier. or yknow, just put a barrier mod on.
I LOVE this warlock build with delicate tomb. I did dsc this week and saw a warlock was using coldheart. Told them to put on spark of beacons. It was a very easy raid.
Love using this gun on all my warlock builds. Especially the void build I run with the fellwinter helm so I can just weaken, melt, repeat. but for my arc build there has been no comparison, this thing has been kicking some serious booty.
I love the coldheart and have since the beginning, so I'm sending this video to my clan. Everytime I pull this beast out, they all mock me but I knew it was good. Thanks for the proof.
One way around the champion mod thing would be to run Secant Filaments for overload champs since standing in the empowering rift makes all weapons (that dont have a champ mod currently equipped) stun overloads. Not the best work around, but you could run that over an SMG/autorifle/scout and then use your other weapon for whatever the other champ is. Obviously only helps with overloads so past that, you would be in the same situation.
I love builds that don't rely too heavily on mods since I can actually recommend them to friends that just started playing that have almost none of the combat style mods
Absolutely loving the Coldheart as a Warlock! Using Fallen Sunstar and Sparks of Shock, Discharge, Ions, and Amplitude for insane grenade output and ability regen.
I love trace rifles, I use em almost exclusively on my warlock and I have one for each damage type. Coldheart is great, but Agers Scepter is still my favorite.
If you don't want to run Coldheart (maybe you want an Exotic in a different slot), I recommend the new Legendary Arc Trace Rifle that dropped this season. Still works great with this sort of build.
7:24, as cool as this would be, Doesnt Secant Filaments only work on Voidwalker? I was under the impression that this didnt let other subclasses benefit from devour
Coldheart + Bakris = love Being stasis, you get unstoppable and overload from seasonal mods, then can fill in the missing barrier either via bow or pulse and still have plenty of room for Font of Might stacking
It is indeed really fun. The ammo stuff can be worked around with mods. My problems with it are champions, like you said, warlock arc supers being underwhelming, and jumping way too high while amplified to skate properly. Still easily recommend trying it out for those that haven't.
Last season I found good success with Trinity Ghoul and Fallen Sunstar using a similar build as this. I generally try and tie this build to a seasonal champion weapon, so personally think trace rifles are a poor choice in general if you want to use this build outside of a handful of activities. I think bow, SMG and scout work well this season.
Personally i use the seraph trace rifle and thunderlord for overload stunning. As long as you use a pulse or bow as your kinetic for barrier stunning and you use the arc melee unstoppable stun, you can essentially use any special arc weapon for this type of build. As a returning player i highly recommend.
Tried this build, it does work some good stuff but trinity ghoul still sits atop a throne of power outlets. Honestly in this arc build especially, dmg buffs make it better for higher end content and you don't have to worry about special ammo. Put on a blinding nade Gl or whatever you want, and this build goes even harder. just make sure you remember to take off the fragments for special arc weapons.
You need to look into Path of Least Resistance. It’s a legendary trace that gives similar access to ionic traces, and because it’s legendary you can use Arbalest or Bastion in your kinetic slot, or an exotic in your heavy slot. VoltShot enables massive damage boosts and add clear, and makes the trace rifle extremely ammo efficient. Weapon also rolls Adaptive Munitions, which destroys shields in Match Game. Imo BiS primary for Arc Warlock. (It’s a primary because let’s be honest, you’re using it as a primary. Who needs chaos reach anyway.)
last season when the arc helmet that creates better ionic traces came out i made a build with it, I used cold heart because of my limited inventory it was the best that I had, it was still really good but im glad to see a buff
I've been using the unstoppable melee this season for warlock. Been using coldheart/sunstar with a pulse rifle and whatever else in heavy for a little while now... Delicate Tomb works well too but burns through ammo.
Love the video, fun build but one key issue: the magazine size for Coldheart is too small, always has been. It requires constantly reloading to keep it full enough to be able to sustain the long burst so you can generate traces, unlike the other traces that you can fire for much longer. It’s lame.
The last column on artifact has a mod to boost damage even more (looks like an infinite symbol). This is my go to build this season as well. You melt everything, even get champs too without stun.
I love using ager’s scepter with mantle of battle harmony on stasis, so when buffs to coldheart came out I immediately tried it with coldheart on arclock. love the super regen, just wish chaos reach did more damage, the clip of datto using chaos reach on the shreaker boss is really sad…
Lot of people were complaining that Warlocks were left behind in this and previous seasons, so for me its great to see videos like this. Truth is every guardian has viable builds which will destroy everything, you just have to dig deep and find those builds. Personally, i find it difficult and its why i always refer to vids like this cause there is always gonna be someone smarter than me coming up with great builds.
Well, there was a bunch of buffs handed for it to have a shine. But still compered to the other classes warlocks still lacking, or better hunter/titans are too op and need heavy nerfs
You should look at doing a build video with Path of the Burning Steps on Titan, it really amps up a lot of exotic weapons, my favs to look at are Vex Mythoclast, Prometheus Lens, and Sunshot. Polaris Lance and Ticuu’s aren’t bad at all either
I just put this on with barrier bow and unstoppable arc grenade. Going to try now!!! Even without I get a shit ton of traces from the new arc souls when amplified.
Maybe some arcing effects on the edge of the screen when you're charged up or the visual intensity of the beam changes ala wave splitter with the battery is super charged
The only thing I can really suggest to make it even more insane on titan it just throwing on font of might. Hell even with all that you may get away with running curiass. Just a thought ❤
Before the video, I loved Coldheart and would use it from time to time. After the video, I love it even more than I thought I would. Still can't like arc subclass, but it's worth it for the combo.
Tried the coldheart pre trace buff. Wasn’t too thrilled at the time. Will have to try again. I do think I prefer running around with the charged melee aspect.
No it isn't, Wavesplitter doesn't have nearly the same synergy with void as Coldheart has with arc. Might aswell put on a good exotic like witherhoard if you're doing that.

It’s lame.
I have loved cold heart since using it in the thorn quest version of the savathuuns song strike, I think all it needs now is intrinsic overload
I’m sorry but I recently rediscovered that I have Stasis and have been having fun with that so Arc got put on the back. Thanks for the opinion
The last column on artifact has a mod to boost damage even more (looks like an infinite symbol). This is my go to build this season as well. You melt everything, even get champs too without stun.
The beauty of this setup! Love the energy you still have for this game. Long time fan, you're a wonderful human dat ❤️
Very nice video, i havent commented on a datto video in a long time but damn datto thumbs up.
This I will be trying out today. Cheers 😄
Maybe some arcing effects on the edge of the screen when you're charged up or the visual intensity of the beam changes ala wave splitter with the battery is super charged
A hunter build I saw the other day was using Coldheart with Stasis hunter and Mask of Bakris
currently using this setup and I'm loving it. :D
Titan: I want to oonga boonga and use abilities, but this gun requires me to shoot things continually. Woe is me.
11:14 felt like it was directed towards me specifically 👀
Dont forget verity's brow for insanely strong grenades + boosted grenade regen for allies!
I have been rocking the good old fashion skip grenade spam and it is an ad clear machine, and decent against larger enemies too.
I've been using this build nonstop for the whole week and I fucking love it.
It is amazing. I made a build that gave me a 100% up time for warlock arc slide melee. So many options and it is so fun
Tried the coldheart pre trace buff. Wasn’t too thrilled at the time. Will have to try again. I do think I prefer running around with the charged melee aspect.
I remember pre leading D2 and using this gun at every chance I could through the red war story. Fucking loved it
I've been running a similar void build with wavesplitter and echo of instability with harmonic siphon, very similar to this just void flavored
No it isn't, Wavesplitter doesn't have nearly the same synergy with void as Coldheart has with arc.
Might aswell put on a good exotic like witherhoard if you're doing that.
I like the wavespliter it works as does the dares legendary trace with incandescent for solar builds with mantle of battle harmony and well
