  • Talking pet buttons have become very popular over the last few years, and many people are interested in using them to increase communication with their cats. Unfortunately, these buttons can be hard to press, and the initial training process can be frustrating for people (and cats). In this step-by-step clicker training tutorial, I show you how to teach your cat to put enough pressure on a talking cat button to activate it. Even if you aren't interested in teaching your cat to "talk," this is a fun clicker training assignment.
    Have fun training!

Great video! Saw you over on instagram and came over to check out your channel! Such beautifully done successive approximations and step-by-step instructions. Love it! No cat myself, but I actually started clicker training when I was a kid with my mom's cat because I didn't have a dog and wanted to practice. Will definitely recommend your channel to my cat friends!

Thanks a lot! I also didn't find a way to train our cat pressing the button.
PS You could add "Thanks" button on CZcams. I would be glad to pay for your guidance.

Amazing Video. I had some issues with pure target training and rewarding my cat for putting one button on a container first and then on the button. There was no training to put body weight on it as well. I will try your method next

I was starting to do clicker training with my kitten, when I got another slightly older cat. Can you post something on how to train a cat with another cat around? I find the smaller kitten bouncing all over and being distracting.

Hi. I have been using your helpful techniques with success. I have a huge hurdle with my very unsocialized 10 month old Melanistic Bengal. She is terrified of all people. Each time I take her to do walks on tracks, as soon as someone appears she goes crazy and starts charging away. I have her on a lead but she pulls so hard trying to get away. I have also tried getting her back in her carrier before the people get to us and hee claws rip into me every time. She does not scratch, just digs in very deep. Do you have any helpful advice please. I bought her from a breeder and did not know at the time that she was totally not socialized. I have come such a long way training her in such a short time and I want to be able to take her on walks with me. Thank you.

Hopefully you've made some progress in the intervening months, but if you still need more help (or anyone reading this does), if she has a treat that is her FAVORITE, introduce the scary thing (I would suggest a cat-savvy friend, at your home), and then give her the treat pretty much right away while the scary thing is there, regardless of her behavior. But make sure you do scary, then treat, not accidentally the other way around. It can take a long time, but with slowly increasing the complexity, hopefully she will get more used to and less scared of people.

Cats of all ages can learn. I encourage everyone to watch our video called "Is Your Cat Trainable" to try the tests.
