  • What can Alcohol Do To A Foetus?
This third film explores specifically what can happen to an unborn baby when it is exposed to alcohol:
    - How alcohol reaches a developing foetus
    - How alcohol affects gene expression
    - How alcohol affects cell migration
    - The effect of alcohol on brain development
    - How alcohol can inhibit the growth of an unborn child
The script was developed with Dr. Raja Mukherjee - Consultant Psychiatrist, Adult Learning Disability Consultant Psychiatrist for Surrey and Borders' Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and internationally acclaimed expert in FASD and Dr. Adesoji Abiona - Consultant Community Paediatrician and Trustee of FASD Awareness Charity. The film contains a final message from Jess Read - Deputy Chief Midwifery Officer NHS England.

I really love my alcohol, but I can't imagine drinking during a pregnancy knowing the impact it's going to have.

I can't answer that I am afraid. But the most important advice we can recommend is to abstain from alcohol for the duration of your pregnancy. The most important thing is you know. Wishing you very best wishes

Alcohol can cause a miscarriage and stillbirth

If the damage to the foetus is so severe in the very first 2 weeks this is the most common time for a natural miscarriage. However, the foetus could still survive full term.

I'm from the UK and I have met about 4 people who are women who drank during pregnancy 😅. They don't care and if you criticise them you are evil and their children will have awful problems and already do. But remember it's wrong to criticise them and you are a bad person and it's all just bad luck 😂
