Eyelids for the headlights, bug guard, cow catcher, bumperettes, lighted eyebrow cap, hand rails on the bed, bed cap, tow mirrors, blind spot mirrors, CB radio, trailer brake, hood ornament, rear wheel caps, corner guides for the front, it's like a JC Whitney catalog came to life.
Yeah the owner must have run out of ink checking off all the boxes in the catalog for all his "accessories"...talk about overkill.
I was thinking the same thing, this guy bought out the whole truck section of the JC Whitney catalog!
More like JC Whitney threw up. Hell I would be proud to own it and daily drive it.
I think every town had "that old guy " who did this. Lol
And those whistle things that are supposed to scare deer away.
Holy hell, someone literally bolted every accessory they could find onto this truck.. I love it and hate it at the same time... Don't apologize for being squirrel brained, I wouldn't have been able to get ANYTHING done in this place!
I felt the same way. At first,"Lord that's a fugly truck!" But if it was mine, I'd leave it just as it is, and drive it everywhere>
Back in the day, when that thing turned the corner, everybody knew who was in town.
Sometimes I with I could do that. Who cares what people think. In the owners mind. It is a masterpiece.
As someone who remembers (and actually ordered from the JC Whitney catalog back in the 70s and 80s) I admire this truck owner's perseverance. It was a PAIN to order that crap - you had to fill out a tiny little order form with a bunch of numbers and mail it in or call someone on the phone and painstakingly read and go over a bunch of item numbers. That truck alone was 2 hours of ordering, and that was AFTER deciding what to order. And don't get me started on returns/mistakes, which were virtually guaranteed to happen.
So much effort for such a result.
This is so true, I've ordered a lot of stuff from JC Whitney catalogs over the years and it definitely took some effort! I miss them and wish the company was still around as they had all kinds of cool stuff for old pickup trucks.
@@dieselbronco9247 they are still around. Recently changed names.
I’m guessing he had stake in the company
That barn is a dream!!!!!!
That barn is a dump....
No I agree with auto auction it has plenty of low mileage vehicles that are prime for recovering and they're all clearly very well optioned out so I'm going to safely guess that there is a few gems in that pile the guy has so many he had to have his cherries and favorites 🤷♂️
Man... that truck is a a picture of a full J.C. Whitney catalogue🤣🤣🤣
@@kennethjennings9292 no sir. He was an over the road trucker so he was at all the different truck stops buying up the little add-ons and junk that they sell and putting it on his daily driven vehicles lol but yeah im sure he may have even ordered some more stuff if he didn't find everything he wanted far as accessories goes
Hey thats cool, not many people will go to that level of customization and pretty much create a rolling work of art from a picture they had in their mind
That farms an absolute time capsule, you're lucky to have access!
Those square body trucks are the perfect example of every random, tasteless accessory from the 90's era JC Whitney catalog...and I love it!
Hey I really didn't see what you wrote until I wrote it and that chrome bling goes back into the 60s or 70s
A pickup with fender skirts!? I'm repulsed and intrigued at the same time
"Put the J.C. Whitney catalog down, and slowly back away" is the first thing that popped into my head. That truck has EVERY little tchotchke item from every 80's truck accessory catalog I've ever seen! LOL! Love the content and love these cleaner (for Iowa anyway) square bodies! I hope to find a few more on FB marketplace soon!
I think the guy that had the cars drove them until he wasn't able to put any more accessories on them, then parked them. Or at least mirrors.
I know you said you stressed keeping a linear format, but I feel the distractions make for entertaining content. I really enjoy the discovery of artifacts and how you guys react. It's more than just reviving old cars, it's an adventure.
Keep doing what you're doing, because it's fun to watch. You've certainly got my sub.
I think you need an entire episode devoted to treasure hunting! Those barns are probably full of awesome stuff
FYI: Those posts are called Bumper Guides.
They are used to indicate the "edges/corners" of your truck for better visibility in low light environments. You also put them on plows to better judge distances and avoid hidden obstacles.
in the oilpatch, we call them rookie rods.
In the frozen shitpatch of duluth we put them on plows and call em rookie posts
the dairy business in central California they are use in the front driven PTO feed trucks...they hang way out infront and helps to indicate the front corners.
Please, do you know what is the transparent orange thing on the front of the hood for?
@@pixiniarts I've heard the in the remote parts of minnesooooota old farts would put funny or often odd phrases on them.
slowly becoming one of my favorite vehicle revival channels I love that you're in iowa it's tough finding decent vehicles in the midwest let alone make them come to life
Don’t change anything on the truck. It’s a genuine time capsule! The look is incredible!
Just to put this out here: this truck has a CB radio, a factory AM radio and an add-on FM adapter (under the ashtray) for said AM radio. So three receivers in total. Somebody liked their airwaves.
I would guess it belonged to a former trucker.
I just love the genuine joy of every discovery. This is what is missing from 'reality shows' on TV. Produced, scripted, pre-arranged 'barn finds' are so soulless. This is real stuff. It's like cleaning your room, and getting distracted playing with everything you find. I hope we get commentery episodes while they clean every square inch of this place. I hope they film the inside of every glove box and camper shell. I wanna see everything. This is good sh*t!
Those wheel skirts are really something. Such a cool find, I'd love to dig around in an old warehouse full of treasures like that!
That shed was amazing - glad you spent a little time rifling through and showing us what was in there. Today's car was a hoot! Yes, you can over accesorize a car... Great video! 👍
I don't blame you for getting sidetracked at all! I could explore that farm for hours.
I know the feeling. I can smell the dust, wood and barn. I can see and feel my "Pa-Pa"s tobacco barn.
Evan , I'm with you bro . I'm bringin' a tent and sleepin' over , lol .
Hell yeah, I'm in!
KEVIN.....DUDE! you gotta do the Z34 Lumina! For what they are and for the time they came from those are the shit. They only made them a few years and now days they are few and far between. All the little things that went into a 1st gen W body are very interesting. It would be a challenge because those 3.4 DOHC engines aren't the easiest to work on, but it would be soooo worth it.
Let's get this to the top!
As a truck and car lover from way back, I find your channel very interesting and fascinating to watch. I wish we had places like that up here (northeast). I hope you keep on with this project and so we can see all the stuff in the barns.
Awesome episode!!! Love exploring through old stuff fun and sad at the same time knowing the guy who collected it has passed. but he must be looking down and seeing the joy it brings to others reviving his stuff. Hope to see more of your guys finds there. Oh Kevin you looked great on the exercise bike maybe a fitness show is in your future? LOL....
Shop: How many bumperettes do you want?
Previous Owner: Yes
Up here in Canada, we'd refer to all those over accessorized vehicles as being very frenched up.
Yep yep eh I'm in Alberta and Canadian and born and raised here
Yes we do, lol.
Grandpa'd up.
Easy...my family is French and all over Canada. Don’t make me call dem. 😂
So we like our bling bling in our trucks in Quebec... Makes for pretty trucks! I have a 65 ford, a 51 Chevy... I need me a crew cab in them years and French it self up!
Those were some awesome custom semi trucks! Nice square body too. Fired right up to boot!
Awesome find and I can't wait for more!! I know you'll save everything else in the barn but make sure you save that 88-91 SSE Bonneville and Z34. They are both rare and not many on the road. I might even be interested in them depending. They made hardly any Z34s and only 13k a year of the SSE. There aren't many at all left of the SSE probably more of the Z34 honestly. I own an 90 SSE and a 90 Turbo Grand Prix. Both excellent. TGP being very simular to the Z34 but more rare. I hope you work on them get them goin. The SSE is super simple to work on. Only thing to remember is the brakes are like a European car and have Double Bubble ISO flares at the ends if you need to replace any hard line flares. They are stainless steel though along with the exhaust. Usually only the rubber brake hoses go bad.. I hope you take the bug gaurd off it lol. That is hideous and meant for a truck...Good luck with everything to you both!
That barn is the dream. A person could spend days in there and still find something new. Heck of a find, and im glad you guys have access to for content and maybe allow some of those rigs to have a new lease on life
I am pretty sure Derek would be in heaven in that barn.
Wow! What a find! Imagine all the history inside that barn. It's so intriguing just sitting here in front of my computer, here in VA! Wish ya's luck on the drive home...
I love all the cool old finds around the vehicles that are already covered in treasures. Wish I owned this barn
Honestly, I love how you're just digging through all of this and find cool stuff! I don't mind this one being a little all over the place!
What are the odds of finding a barn-find vehicle that's been sitting for however long and it fired on the first try???
Those odds have got to be pretty low
Find the nearest small country town ride the backroads lol.. I seen a 64 c10 under a falling shed I might go ask about it
@@Gbody_Klown well, yeah, you find stuff like this in a small town or out in the middle of BFE, but 90% of the time, they're not running at all or need a little coaxing to get them where they at least turn over
This square body fired up the first time out and I think that Diggs had said it'd been sitting for about 5 years or so
So that's why I was thinking that the odds of finding a barn-find vehicle that'll fire up on the first try mist be pretty rare
@@Gbody_Klown quick, go now
Typically pretty low. But five years sitting for a Chevy 350 isn't really anything. The gas was still half good, and it had a fresh battery. It looked like it was kept decent, and had some parts fairly recently, which definitely increases the chances.
When they sit for years and years and years, that's when you get the cars and trucks that need so much time to slowly coax them into living once more.
I love that truck, that truck is in amazing condition for its age. And the driveline is still running great. Big 👍
awsome to watch revivals of old square bodys.that place is a gold mine!!dogs lookin good and gettin big.rock on
oh god, I want a see a revival of everything in this farm
Without being too nosey Kevin, I'd be interested to know a wee bit more about what all is now yours. Does all the random stuff come with the trucks? Have you bought everything?
The main reason I'm asking: I think there's quite possibly as much value in the "stuff", as the vehicles. It looks like you could fill a decent-sized truck with just the tool and fluids. A skip might be handy too, even just for all the boxes/cardboard/shit.
I wonder what the story was with the former owner. He seems to have been into buying, selling, maybe both. Was he maybe a trader of some kind? There seems to be so much stuff, still in boxes.
Once you get the vehicles taken care of and salvage all the good automotive stuff, there could enough stuff there for a yard sale/car boot sale. Either that, or someone could spend a couple of days listing stuff on eBay. Dust it off and you might be very surprised at how much it brings in. Just a thought but Mook's animal rescue charity coul do pretty well out of it.
Looking forward to the next one and completely agree about the AD/HD t-shirts - you both need one.👍😁
Cheers for now,
Dougie.
I really want a vid just to see what you can still find in that barn. Loved the episodes.
Greetings from Belgium! =)
I honestly like how you guys got distracted with the discoveries! I find it more real and unfiltered, shows you're actually human y'know? Plus, it's fun!
That is the freaking goldmine of all goldmines! I wanna bet each and every car and other motorized vehicle in there ran when parked and was cared for, and you'll find that whichever car you choose for a project will be as quick and easy as that sweet Chevy truck right here, because it's clear that whoever owned all of that really loved it all too. Heh, and don't worry about being all over the place, I know I for one would be lost for a year just looking through all the stuff in that barn alone! 😊
I had a 77 El Camino a few years back. One cold day I walked out to check the oil and when I shut the hood, I bent it. One of the saddest days in my life. A little wd40 and it closed easy.
Thanks for a great video. This truck was the inspiration for Pimp My Ride.
I'm so hyped for the rest of the revival videos from this barn! What a treat for us all!
Lovely truck. No idea what that is worth where you are, but here in the UK would be worth a LOT of money ! Great video as always
This is amazing. You two are so lucky that you get to do this for a living. Wish I could find an abandoned barn with cars in it and fix em' up. Looking forward to more videos of this!
I can definitely see how you 2 could get distracted in that place. I definitely could too. That is definitely a gold mine. When you opened the doors and I saw the Allis Chalmers tractors, it definitely peaked my interest as I worked at a local Allis dealership out of high school. It has since closed but I have been collecting (when funds allow) anything i can find that came from there. I was able to get from the estate auction a 1937 AC WC that had been in the family since new. If that barn has that many treasures in it, I can only imagine what is in all the other buildings and house. Great find for sure and look forward to all the great content you come up with there. You guys rock.
Also wanted to add, the owner must have been a truck driver with the lighted bumper guides, west coast style mirrors, the mud flap girls in the back window and of course the CB's and antennas are a dead give away. As much of a Ford fan I am, I kinda like the old square body GM trucks. 😊
The look on Mook's face when they opened the door to the custom cab was priceless. Now we know what she wants for Christmas.
"I want all the options"
" Ok. So a/c, power windows? "
"No no, I want *all* the options"
Someday I'll find a time capsule like this. Those antics (so-called distractions) though are HILARIOUS!
I am amazed they even got the video out. If I went in that barn I would be never coming out.
I love those trucks personally. We had one in northern Wisconsin we'd use for deer hunting and ice fishing. They rode like a Cadillac on the highway and had an incredible heating system, I used to fall asleep riding home after a long of fishing.
Man is this the golden goose of content! All these super cool old cars!!! Kevin buy all of them, seriously.
Interesting collection! I like all the add on’s to every truck.
I want that Z34 lumina or that Pontiac Bonneville between the trucks. I like strange cars, lol.
I do believe that is a Bonneville SSEi too....The body color wheels triggered that memory!
Y'all dont feel bad about the chaos episode every now and then, after the fiasco you've had for the past year, you deserve the crazy fun that i can see this barn giving! Enjoy it, treasures like these are too rare!
Another Awesome video. Awesome 78 square body, looks like a keeper! I like the colors, good luck on the revival of the other square body! Take care.
Cannot believe how clean that truck is. Also can’t believe how much junk their is in that shed. I would be in me heaven if I was there.👍👍
I ain’t never seen a old truck with ALL the bells and whistles! I’ve seen many with a few of the different add on accessories but this guy had all of them. And that’s a first for the side skirts. I bet that old man was a player. I bet he pulled up in town to the bar and got all the attention
This is amazing Kevin! I can't wait to see the videos from this farm.
Everything from the Cadillac hubcaps to the wheel skirts the the ridiculous chrome add ons just make this truck amazing. I feel like it belongs in a movie, it's like the Family Truckster of Chevy trucks.
Man I love that truck, it’s orange and has like every possible accessory possible. If you ever sell it please let me know! Keep up the great work and amazing content!
its not unusual to see those hoods with scrap metal fastened over the "crumple" zone , Good on you for pointing it out. I will generally oil those hood hinges on any old car/truck. I am sure GM sold a lot of those hoods from rust and bending!
Yeah, if you keep the hinges moving properly you’re way less likely to kink the hood.
I’m sure the purists wouldn’t like it but if it were mine I would take absolutely everything off except for the visor and I think it would look better with the simple square look
@Womb Raider I have the same exact lighted Lund visor on a 98 ford explorer
I’d leave the naked fairy hood ornament, too.
Awesome finds.. looking forward to the next few 100 videos. Thanks for sharing..
Hey Kevin, longtime lurker of your channel here. To say that I am excited for the next 4 months of content would be an understatement. That barn is INSANE! But I gotta know what the situation is with all the cars. Did you or your friend buy the property? Or just the cars? Or were they given to y'all? I am so curious regarding the circumstances on how you have gained access to work on so many vehicles at once
Another iowa farmer died and the kids and grandkids are now "city people" too involved in their own lives and want nothing to do with grandpas old stuff. Or had no kids. No iowa boy is gonna let grandpas stuff go for nothing. But nothing there too crazy cool.
@@deadgoatsracing234 you called me?
@@crazycooln01 yeah, have you seen a pair of red handled plyers laying around anywhere? I just had em 10 seconds ago...
@@deadgoatsracing234 oh… about that… well Bill had to use them for a project
@@crazycooln01 i knew it. Goddam i knew it. Every dam time.
KEVIN!
Hell yeah it starts right up!
Probably got Cadillac suspension to go with those awesome Cadillac wheel covers! :D
Thanx for a great vid!
Great video!! Love the "I can't sell it because I will never find another one like it, except for the other one like it" Classic Kevin! I would have a field day in that barn!! I also would love to have that blue Monte Carlo that was in front of the orange and white Chevy truck that stayed in the barn. It reminds me of my Grand Prix that I had in high school. I really like the orange truck you got going. (You should name it Big Orange) Please don't edit the future vids too much, one of the great things about your channel is that it isn't completely scripted. I like the silly randomness of the videos and to me that makes things fun.
Great Content Kevin, Hope You & Yours Had A Great Holiday, That ‘60’s Chevrolet C10, With The Firewood In The Back, Parked Outside In Front Of That 80’s Suburban, Looks Just Like Dereck’s (VSG) Lawsuit, LoL!! Cool Squarebody, Can’t Wait To See The Next One Sir..
You should do an entire episode exploring the stuff in the barn. There’s some pretty interesting stuff in there!
I'll watch another 20 videos that are set in this barn. Holy moly that is amazing.
I had to pause the video to mop up my drool. What a cool barn! Now that 60-66 Chevy Truck in there? Man, that thing is like my dream!
One of the best videos I have watched I love the random stop to dig in the barn
2:45 Convex "fisheye" mirror for wide-angle view
2:53 "Sight rod" (some models come with an illuminated tip --- or the entire rod lights up --- for added visibility in darker locales; this one probably is lighted, too, since it has that translucent orange section near the tip), for helping to judge bumper-clearance when plowing snow or performing other "tight quarters" tasks
73-80 hoods had the bending problem. 81 thru 91 had a different hinge/spring design that didn't suffer from the bending problem. And there are fixes for the 73-80 hoods to stiffen them to keep them from bending.
would be worth them looking into that
oh, it happens on the 81-up hoods too, just not as susceptible. Happened to my 2nd 85 and my 87. (I've owned an 82, 2 85's, and an 87)
I enjoy the messing around, I’d be doing the same thing. I enjoy looking through stuff to see what is there and then just having fun.
I think I like this one even more than the GMC in the next video! All the little add on options are so awesome! It would be hard to choose which one I like better, now having seen both of them.
Kev, been a fan and subscriber of yours since well before your last deployment and I just want you to know how much I appreciate the content you put out. You've been entertaining and educating me for years now and more than anything, I'm just thankful for the content. Like others, I don't need an apology from you. The way you shoot and edit your videos definitely gives it a warm and inviting feel that more polished channels and shows simply cannot replicate. So long as you keep creating, I'll keep watching. Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you, Mook, and Coda! God bless y'all!
Kevin, Miss Mook, very sorry you two were sick. Hopefully you had a great thanksgiving anyway. That place is a honey hole!!! I hope you make four months worth of videos of that place. Love it!!! Please revive the Monte Carlo . I had that car and it was a beast. Never broke down on me. Biggest mistake I ever made getting rid of it. Never got stuck in the Jersey snow either. Couple of bags of cement in the trunk and I was good to go. Keep healing up and can’t wait till next week 👍 😁!!!
Dude that beeping and running to put change in the machine have me so many good memories with me and my dad washing his old cars.
I Love the the old square body Chevy's, looks like this "barn" was owned by a JC Whitney fan, I think I saw every part i was drooling over in the early 80s.. great find!!
This was one of the most entertaining episodes yet! I loved all the random goofiness of it all!
The wheel well covers are aftermarket, so glad you know about the hood folding,I am wondering if the 454 is a camper special.
How the hell did anyone forget about that barn. Would love opening that up that’s one hell of a find . I can’t wait to see what else is in there
Love them old Chevy square bodies, but damn I’ll never understand fender skirts on a pickup. Years ago I bought a 79 3/4 ton Chevy that had em and they were the first things I ripped off that rig. Awesome find, can’t wait to see more
Thank you man!!!What an awesome episode!!! This place is huge any one would have been easily distracted, don't worry about it! Already can't wait for your next revival . Monte Carlo 👀👀👀
WOW, what a great vid. Got my heart pumpin'! I've driven just about every make /model of tractor over my thirteen year career, for just about as many carriers, unfortunately, puling everything, doubles, trip pups, tanker haz/water for fresh grade, even cattle once. THAT! Was a never again experience. My career ended with a couple of 6 weeks in a coma, ect... And... Well... Anyway, at 18, my second vehicle, don't ask about the first, was a '78' sqare body 3/4 ton 350, 4WD.in '82'. I put a plow on it, Buffalo NY, and enjoyed it like nothing else since, for 12 years. So easy to work on, cheap parts....I mean plentiful inexpensive parts, and tough as nails.
I do have to say, I have "NEVER" seen factory wheel flares on a square body? Don't actually like them, but if they're actually factory ..... I'd have keep 'em :\.
Seeing such a nice vehicle, out of a barn, damn, even the dash ain't cracked all to heck!
Brought back fond memories !
Just a thought...if you wanna loan it to me for a couple O' 20 years or so, just drive it on up here and I'd be happy to take that burden off you hands.
LOL. Thanks, yous two... I enjoy your stuff!
Peace!
This truck reminds me of a pimpmobile from the 70’s. it must weigh 200 pounds more with all the accessories hung off it. Still a great video guys. Thanks.
Beautiful Truck, I could hear some vacuum leaks but it looks and sounds pretty solid. So funny with all the extras on it. I'm sure you already ordered new shocks for the drive home after the title is resolved.
Wow! That's quite the treasure trove! I'd love to bump into something like that. That is wild!
Mook looks so happy. She was like in heaven of cars.Anyways love all your videos. Keep up the good work .God bless u mook and the rest of the family always. Peace ✌
Thanks for another good & Entertaining video love the variety of vehicles in the Barn
That chevy is a 1970's truckers time capsule! Reminds me of all my dad and his buddy's trucks. it fits right in with the big trucks!
I tapped as soon as i seen this. Im a Ford guy but it is nice to see another Squarebody on the channel. Honestly i was impressed with how easily this thing was to get going. And it didnt have as many of the weird Chevy things going on😂. I love ur vids👍
Oiling the hinges for the hood is always needed for these old square body chebys they get Taco Hoods quick if there slammed a d the hinges are sticking good point out on that one Kevin @26:30 @Junkyard Digs
I'll be the weird one and say I want the lumina and that 89 bonneville sse. That bonneville is a little slower than the later ssei but still pretty fun. I grew up around and owned plenty of square body stuff so the old sporty gm fwd cars always interest me.
I used to use type f in gm's to firm up the shifts, always worked fine for me.
You're not alone. Those two cars peaqued my interest, too. I hope he got those in the deal so we can see videos of them.
Ive owned both and enjoyed them. I can remember when they were everywhere and they just disappeared. I dont know if it was a cash for clunkers thing like the explorer but I dont even see them in the junkyard anymore.
Agreed! I own a 90 SSE in black and a 90 Turbo Grand Prix in red! Fun for sure!
The 88-90 grand prix se is my favorite. I owned 6 at one time with the color matched wheels. I owned quite a few 91-96 also but only gtp's. I was always big into the grand prix scene but you rarely see them anymore either.
I had an 89 Grand Prix with the 2.8L, always wanted to swap in a 3.1L. I also had a 96 Bonneville and my ex had a 96 Grand Prix. Fun cars.
Wow.. so cool! Thanks for sharing!
A building full a mounds of cool junk.....I would be lost in there for hours!!!😁 Love the videos 👍
That’s the most “Clark Griswald” lookin truck I’ve ever seen 😅
Completely papaw’d out..
Fuckin love it..!
Farm-ly Truckster?
Love this video! All those old things.. so amazing!
Love the book The Car read multiple times! Love your videos keep up the great work!
"The next 4 months of content" maybe a full year if you're lazy enough
Love your channel brother. Im a Iowa farmboy myself. Was wondering if maybe you could let me know of any old jd 2 cylinder tractors sitting around that you might come across in iowa. Im a serious collector and buyer of these old tractors. I love finding them with stuck motors and getting them freed up and running again. Thanks brother
As an original Squarebody owner, 81 K10...I'm in awe of this Square body and those build overs on the rear box over the tires
You guys are so down to earth. Great video content. Y’all crackn me up with the bicycle built for two!😂
Kevin/Mook @Junkyard Digs,
I know you didn't do any carb work this time but keep this trick I devised years ago for the future..
Try this... Heat the plastic tube from the carb cleaner spray with a lighter (about 1/4-1/2 inch from the end. Then pull on each end of the tube to stretch it. This makes the outer/inner tube diameter smaller and more of a pin point. When the melted plastic solidifies, use small wire clippers or nail clippers to snip the tube at the smallest diameter that still provides flow when spraying. The cleaner comes out like a pin point pressure washer and the shrunken plastic tube end fits inside whatever port your spaying thru.
You can also do the same to create 90 degree angles in the plastic tube to spray sideways inside long venturi tubes.
I used to make/keep custom tubes around for these situations. Hope this makes sense. BTW.... Great videos.
Y'all make me miss my youth. Be Well!
