Repeated flying of the same area does offer its rewards. Like that cannon run at 10:33, not something one should be attempting on first, or second run. Loss of video would be game over! Also knowing how wind interacts with the terrain, so can adapt your flight plan to get the best video, like that loopback pan and waterfall dive. Awesome flying and narration skills. Really makes if feel like getting a personalized tour/ride.

I loved running my two 5s 1500 lipo's on my 7 inch ApexLR in this configuration. I imagine this thing can cruise fast and fly for a very long time with the reduced drag in high forward pitched flight. The drag is greatly reduced and the CG is as centered/balanced with the prop line as much as possible. Looks very efficient! Awesome design and amazing work! Love seeing your content.

Mate your videos have given me so much more confidence flying LR. Just back from 2 weeks flying NZ, longest flight of 5km out on hdzero 1watt. Have you ever considered trying that system? For my setup it matches the range of my lipo batteries and feels very confident.
Ya I've thought about trying HDZero. I only got the DJI setup because so many people use it and I had to incorporate compatibility into my frames. HDZero gear is also cheaper than the overpriced DJI stuff.

Perfect demonstration of why Analog/HDZero setups are ideal for mountain surfing.
Pushing (or testing) LOS situations with DJI/WalkSnail is just way too risky…

Thanks very much! I have not tried HD zero yet. I am for sure interested in trying HDZero but have invested in the DJI system since it's so widely used and my frames needed modification to properly fit 03 cameras and keep up with the industry. Too many different video systems to afford trying them all now. At least its good for the consumer and the industry.
I would love to see HDZero on these mountains! GiantAntCowboy has done great with long range HDZero on his channel! Shouldn't be to much to fit it in a FalconRad Frame. VTX same size as O3 it just the HDZero cams are the same size as analog cams.
@@FalconRadFPV yea, I understand and feel you with the cost of things… I could probably get/send you some stuff for basically free. Can’t help with goggles though, which offer the best experience, especially because 1080p30 works great for mountain surfing.
However the VRX is a cost effective solution and 720p60 mode is still a very nice image upgrade from analog. Those can be found pretty cheap used now a days.
Not sure if you ever saw this video, but I demonstrate HDZero penetration & range out to 7km and you can see it performs/reacts very similar to analog.

@@baggszilla thanks, yea the new Freestyle V2 will fit quad that fits DJI now. The the new Micro V2 camera is looking nice. Definitely not DJI image, but image quality isn’t everything…

I totally love your vids and it's always a blast seeing you shoot through the gorges, falls and cliffsides. I'm getting into micros and wish there was a way to get greater range with them.
Thank you. I'm getting a 3.5" cinewhoop soon, might try seeing what sort of range I can get with it. Not at all efficient but might be able to get a couple of km out to a waterfall or something like that. Good luck with your micro flying!

really nice footage and presentation of the flight!!! I also feel confident flying long range with losing signal, BUT on hills where you can do it by walk or even bu car..but those MOUNTAINS are next level!!!! at those height if you crash it is game over for sure. exept if you don't have a rescue(15inch) drone 😂

Ya I've been thinking about getting a long range wing made to fly.
Awesome video as always! Have you managed to get further total range with 6s2p 21700 or 6s2p 5600mah with P28As with your RAD LI-ion?
6s2p with 21700's gets about 20 or 25% more range depending on the cells. It feels heavy to fly though and not as agile or responsive. I only use 6s2p 21700's when I really need the extra flight time. 6s2p with 18650's feels much nicer to fly and has enough range for most flights.
@@FalconRadFPV ah cool, that’s interesting. I was always under the impression that 6s2p 21700 on a 7 inch was beyond efficiency as the extra weight would cancel out the extra mah. Compared to 6s2p 18650. I’d thought 7.5inch would carry x2 21700s better. But must retest 👍

I just built a 7" with 8S1P 21700 cells. 2808 1100kv motor. It really feels awesome. Havent tested it for LR though.
I haven't done much more with it yet. I've got several batteries made up for it. I was thinking about an 8s octo, and maybe a 2024 version of the rad li-ion that runs on 8s.
What?!! How do you set it up to go to 2.5w when gps or angle in enabled? Thats awesome!! Absolutely wild how far you can go on 800mw. I havnt had my video cut out at the top of a mountain but its happened about 5 times. Super sketchy and scary 😂

How are you making your up right true rc antenna

Hey man I see rushtank release 1.2 GHz vtx and vrx, do you have interest on those product?
1.2ghz uses larger antennas, making it more difficult to mount. A 1.2 omni directional antenna is way bigger than 5.8
It was hard for me to tell but how was the control link during the exact moment that the video went out the longest?
I have an alarm set on my transmitter that warns me when the RX signal is getting too low, I haven't heard it go off once this year. That's why I think 5.8ghz video and 900mhz control link is good together. It's got enough range and penetration for the video, but video loss will always prevent you from pushing the control link too far. You should never lose control link before video this way which is my preference.

why do you still fly in analog video? the range that you fly is enough for digital video.
Did you see the parts where my video went blank? That's why, i was using analog. I find losing video with DJI digital to be sketchy and much more unpredictable to deal with. I have two drone's with DJI 03 air units but I only use them for "safe" long range flights. I've lost video with analog and with DJI, and I find it MUCH easier to deal with in analog.

RX antena must be vertically NOT horizontally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are TWO RX antennas. For a solid long range connection you want vertically AND horizontally mounted antennas. I use a diversity RX with one antenna mounted horizontally in front and a second antenna mounted vertically in the back. It's even better than having just one vertical antenna!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
