I have heard of mace but have never used it or know where it comes from, leave it to THE Queen to teach me something new every time. I love this woman! :)
FYI, after opening brown sugar, put a piece of bread in the package. It will never go bad, it dries out like a crouton. The brown sugar stays soft.
Martha is the queen of cooking/baking. You can always trust her recipes because she's the best.
Of course they are good and beautiful, Martha “the culinary diva” Stewart made them!!!

Omg ever since i started watching Martha
Stewart , I was like shocked for she was baking so good , even my parents were obbsessed with her. SHE IS THE QUEEN OF COOKING.
When I was just a young girl I would make" boxed" Betty Croker blueberry muffins. My friends mom would give boxes of it to us. I would put sugar on top when they come out of the oven and then put them back in to caramelize the top. Then I made blueberry juice out of the canned blueberry that was in the box. I was only 7 or 8 but I would put a little vanilla in it to make it better. I made big and little ones. I think my mom was a tad jealous of my cooking skills at 7. Haha i love this memory. ( i do not use box anything as an adult)

Sounds like your baking powder has gone bad. Or you overmixed them
@@Psych911 B powder is good and Martha over mixed her flour and they turned out fine, cuz my muffin batter never looked like hers, all completely combined and smooth. It had once, those were the senses muffins I have ever made, so now when I mix everything I count to 20 and I'm done whether there's flour or it's mixed in.
