I don't think logic defines us as humans. If so, then robots could technically be more human than humans because they are limited to only thinking logically. I would say our complex emotions make us human, like the ability to overlook them or mix them together to make wierd hormonal emotions. But I prefer logic.
No, no, no, Mr. Walsh, the question is "what does lesbianism as an identity mean?" If you leave off the "as an identity" part you can't make it mean whatever you want.

@chris klein It seems to me that if a culture is to survive, it has to deal compassionately with the pain, confusion, and/or disability of its vulnerable. We are in a $#@!show at the moment, however, because we (collectively) appear to be "out of airspeed, altitude, and ideas" on how to deal with the mess from the strength of our convictions about reality, and with the courage to speak those convictions to the suffering (who are also in this case often the abusive) without fear. We are (understandably) tempted to retreat and wash our hands of the whole mess.
The challenge of speaking life into this kind of death is made more difficult by the fact that this batch of the vulnerable are so only internally; outwardly, they currently wield great institutional power, which, though it is the protection only of delusion, nonetheless shields them -- at least temporarily -- from the impending reality of their own implosion and collapse.
Kipling's poem "If" (at one time overused, but brilliant, nonetheless) begins with the remedy for our challenge: "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you..." Godspeed, friends 😏....
Tyler camp That's because we've lost all reason and common sense and given in to the insanity.
@chris klein Completely agreed. Part of a compassionate response to any disorder (I believe you rightly identify gender dysphoria/body dysmorphic disorder among these) is to name it clearly, not to indulge it. We humans are obligated by a value on pro-social interaction to deal with others' struggles, but not to obey the dictates of every whim to which their own brokenness subjects them.
Then there are the folks who (as far as we can tell) are not actually suffering from disorder, but simply struggling with the (legitimately difficult) challenge of maturing to emotional adulthood in a society that (for several generations now) has neither required nor encouraged this shift. We best serve the possibility of their moving into self-responsibility by changing our expectations and holding them responsible for their behavior.
Both of these types of folks (and we along with them) have a long road ahead, I'm afraid. 😬 Kudos to you and like-minded others for being responsibly engaged in the process! 😉
One of them seems to think they are entitled to date women. Talk about being patriarchal. Maybe they should check their privilege
"A lot of lesbians, especially on dates, haven't accepted my identity as something they are interested in dating..."
Gee, it's almost like I don't want to spend 30-50 years of my life living with someone who would throw a hissy fit if I used the pronoun they didn't prefer.
#Burn
Emotional maturity includes finding out someone isn't interested in your identity, assuming that means you aren't a good fit, and dating someone else....
Maybe they’re “throwing a hissy fit” bc they’re being mistreated by idiots like u every day. Bc they are being bullied just bc they’re a little different than u. And ur just being disrespectful to them and they’re just standing up for themselves bc they didn’t have the strength before to do it. So stop throwing a hissy fit for something u don’t understand.
C1ff ohhhh sorry. I must have gotten it all wrong. That’s definitely not harassment or bullying. And people like u aren’t telling trans people this every day all the time. And first of all. Even if it’s bc if religion or whatever, why can’t u just be respectful and treat someone like a human being. The Bible says to be kind to ur neighbor. So be fucking kind it’s not that harddd. And how is it privileged that we had to fight for yearsss before we could be able to marry the person we loved. How is it privileged that people are being killed. Fucking killed for just being who they are. How is it privileged that people, and freakin kids, are being sent to conversion therapy bc they’re obviously sick and it’s SO HORRIBLE that they have different feelings than u. And it’s definitely privileged that gay conversion therapy is still legal in like 32 states in America. And I know I probably can’t change ur mind. But at least stop being so horrible to people. Why can we just be whoever the fuck we want without someone saying it’s wrong or invalid. I just don’t get it. No wonder this world is so messed up. And back to the pronouns thing. U may not care if someone accidentally calls u a she one time in ur whole life. But people have been called the wrong gender for like all their life. And it’s fucking tiring. And they’re just trying to stand up to the stupid people who misgender them all the time for no freakin reason other than to hurt them. And yeah some people mess up accidentally, but there’s a difference from trying and disrespecting someone. I won’t yell at someone who accidentally called me the wrong gender. That’s just not me. But I will stand up, or at least try something, for all the people who are being mistreated so much for this. Like- u need to calm down.
Hehe
And most importantly, lesbians like women, but they claim to be non binary. Why do they expect lesbians to like them?

I'm a lesbian that identifies as a man. I like women! This question has already been answered by science!
dont worry, they'll come up with a new word for 'non-binary attracted to women'
that will surely make it less confusing
They are never going to give anything meaningful back to society, ever.
Once they start talking about "non-binary", they are already simply adding their own definition to words, so they can say whatever they want. It's all total nonsense, but whatever. Although - for Matt to focus on the "lesbian" part of what they say instead of the "non-binary" seems a bit odd to me since all of these people in the clip are (I'm pretty sure) biologically female.
The thing that bothers me is this push for people to have to accept you for who you are. I'm a straight male. When people say that I am a bigot because I would not be willing to be involved with a transgender woman (a man who thinks he is a woman), that is absolutely ridiculous because the person is a biological man, which does not attract me. Now, I'm personally married, so the only person I'm involved with is my wife, but the point is still the point.
But now these same people are complaining because other lesbians have a problem with them...if you act and behave in a manner that they don't find attractive, I'm personally not even sure why they are involved with you in the first place. So to complain that they want you to use your "birth name" to be more feminine shouldn't affect you - you simply accept that you aren't the type of person that they are attracted to. The fact that you are attracted to them is irrelevant. Just as a gay man should not be offended if I don't find him attractive, you shouldn't be offended if someone doesn't find you attracted...but you want to have your cake and eat it too...it isn't enough for you to be comfortable with your identity...if other people don't accept you for your identity and cater to how you feel they should feel about you, you get offended. But you've pigeon holed yourself in such an odd box that most people don't associate well with that box, so get used to the fact that you've basically caused yourself to be attractive in that fashion to all but a very small complement of people.
Personally, I suspect that you thrive off of a victim mentality, so the fact that you get evidence that everyone else treats you poorly is somehow justification of your self image...you would be a lot happier if you would stop trying to be something that you aren't, but you instead choose to justify your poor perception of yourself by saying it is caused by everyone else. You don't get to do that...if you aren't happy with who you are and don't believe that has anything to do with your choices, then so be it, but stop blaming it on how others react to how you present yourself.
Nothing like women talking in circles!
In another 20 years people look back on this and cringe at this social foray into fluid identity. "Today I feel like a princess! So you may address me as your majesty."
"So someone telling me that I can't be a non-binary lesbian doesn't mean anything." And calling yourself a non-binary lesbian doesn't mean anything if you don't define for sane people how a non female can be a lesbian when lesbian is defined as female on female homosexuality. At this point they just use words as fashion, not for actual meaning.
These women are embarrassing me as a woman 🤦🏼♀️
When I meet someone I don’t need to know what they like in bed! I say TMI

It feels like these people are using the word “lesbian” as a personality trait and identity instead of a classification, like one might use their race or gender. As a lesbian myself, I feel like they are using the term because it is exotic and different. If they are saying they are neither men or women, and are attracted to women, why not say they are straight non binary people instead? It’s because it’s different, and want to have that for themselves. I agree that the idea of “non binary lesbians” is completely illogical and ridiculous, and these people are using the terms for their own agenda rather than an actual way of describing oneself.

These people need help, not unrestricted encouragement. For example; I take Klonopin for panic attacks, it would be a very bad idea to encourage my crazy thought processes while I'm having a panic attack. You don't say "you know what Jake, you're right, you're having a heart attack since your right toe feels weird, let's go to the ER" NO! You should tell me I'm crazy and to take my meds. What we're doing to these people by encouraging them is cruel.
Amen. You are right about the cruelty of indulging delusion. We all struggle with the tyranny of our own narrow perceptions, and we need "3d party perspective" (Shallow Hal) to help us know what is real. Some of us do this naturally enough (and with enough healthy support) that we are lulled into taking it for granted; others of us know that reality is slippery, and we guard it with careful attention -- but all of us fail entirely to guard it at our peril.
You really need to get your educational system in order. Absolutely nuts.
