Ben has done a great job. 😍
What a great way of thinking buddy 👍 well done to the both of yous
Sir can i suggest sword to build, our national bolo from the phillipines
One of my most favorite things about the channel is the little bits of history they give for each of the weapons they have the smiths make
@@lagawantv7010 q
They were so impressed that they gave him a job!
He also appeared on the show twice and won twice before becoming a judge
lm_Cray WTF is this show. Recreating historic items?
@@patrickbateman6885 recreating famous/historic edged weapons
OH YEAH YEAH season 2 and beyond is insane
@@patrickbateman6885 the greatest show on tv.
Very rare you hear Doug say: "It will not kill."
Ya man i saw him first time
Never heard it before

Never bring a knife to a pig fight
First time I heard it.
Ben:"I'm making a damascus sword"
*Makes a damascus sword*
manages to actually make a good one
*Pattern
I think this is one of the first shorts I've seen where a Damascus pattern holds and wins...
Pics of him in Damascus making it or it didn't happen.
@@heroicaknight4735 All of Ben's weapons except his first are damascus _and_ win. He's got the longest win streak in this show.
Ben's claymore felt like it passed through that pig like it was butter.
Thats how you know its a claymore. Oy old teacher staid "if someone selects a claymore in a fight, run. No one untrained would be crazy enough to weild one".
Done mah glass 😂
You should check the Falchion and Crusader sword vids. Those are insane
No way!!!🙉😺
That sword has the liquid medal pattern!!
You have to see overly sarcastic production channel and watch Beowulf to understand what I am talking about and why am I so surprised about this sword! 😸
@@vond5829 i remember that falchion, it cut those pig carcas like a paper
That last cut was incredible.
The claymore was considered a failure if it couldn't cleave a man in twaine.
It's crazy when you consider that EVERY single Claymore other than Ben's up to that point failed in the kill test. Funnily enough, I've got a feeling that it was the larger profile of his sword, the thing that caused him to perform slightly worse in the sharpness test, that gave him the edge (no pun intended) in the kill test. Actual godlike smith.
All the way through. No joke.
Dunmaglass
That smooth cut though 🤤♥️
The "It will not kill" will haunt me till my dying day.

'I didn't feel like a loser'
Got news for you buddy, it did NOT keel!!!!!!!
First time i ever saw this OMG
Ben is perfectionist in the good sense. Attention to detail but practicality and functionality is more important to him! I have deep respect for his craftsmaship and art.
Δεν μπορούσες να τα πεις καλύτερα
Most contestants who do pattern steel lose. Most contestants with the heavier weapon lose. Ben did both and won. What a smith!
No way!!!🙉😺

Imagine working on something for a week straight and someone just shoots it lmao
@Kaiser Franz von Lappen der 2. yeah as long as you do it on the edge and not the flat
not a WHOLE week straight?!
Every mother is like "how about 9 months, thanks!" when you shoot her kid....
(or when doug mistakes them for a practice dummy)
Yes as we all know the Scotts designed their claymores with the sole intention of splitting bullets 🤦🏻♂️

Isn't Ben the only judge who hasn't been defeated
Dave Baker hasn't been defeated yet either
@@BlazingSteel yes he was in the shashka saber showdown of super champions, I think
@@florinjuravle9807 yeah he totally was I remember
@@florinjuravle9807 yeah, that's technically a Forged In Fire episode and not the Beat the Judges spin-off, so I guess it technically counts.
That episode is often considered the pilot episode for Beat the Judges.
He's kinda scarily methodical. Like I dunno how he does it but his prioritization of what to do under time limit is super on point.
best job interview
It's a no wonder Ben is a judge and an indisputable champion. The amount of dedication he had in comparison is just outstanding. No compromise, just pure passion for his craft there.
The fact that they used a scoped 1911 is incredible
And no one is using it.
@@joypatel5612 Well, they had to get perfect alignment on the blade and iron sights would take quite a few practice shots to get right.
@@shockwave6213 just a joke bro 😂
Looks like it was before Ben was a judge!
That's what I was thinking!
I'm quite confused
I'm confused. Why Ben's competing?? Is this battle of champions?
Timeline...Ben is a contestant and wins, Ben is a contestant on champions (this episode) and wins, Ben becomes a judge, Ben wins twice on beat the judges.
Ben won twice before he become a judge
Man Ben's claymore ist just gorgeous 🌟
Actually it's not a claymore, it looks more like a venetian two handed sword
Agree
@Demon Windu it's a historically accurate guard but from the Scottish LowLander sword
@Demon Windu It's modeled after the guard on the William Wallace sword on display at the Wallace Monument in Sterling.
I would buy that sword.
I feel like calling Matt's sword a claymore is not exactly accurate. That thing is way too skinny and light
Yeah, these things were swung around by muscled brutes tripping on shrooms, I don't think either of the swords are heavy enough 😂
@@thecoobs8820 second one was definitely closer
It was way too skinny for a Claymore, that's why it wouldn't cut the pig. No backbone in the center of the blade to support all that length. But it was still well built, it didn't take a bend even after that much torque on the strike. We all saw what happened to the previous blades on the kill tests. Matts heat treat was spot on. Ben's was as well, just a much better design and edge profile. A far superior blade.
More like a rapier that way
I felt attacked at the "way too skinny and light" part.
*first time we get to see this pattern on this*

OSP goated
"Your weapon will not keel!"
"Both your weapons are deadly."
Uhm good Sir? May I ask a question about this?
I mean it might not cut you in half, but if that thing bonks you on the head.... You ain't getting up lol.
@@craigfox6870 if it can't cleave you in twaine then it's not a proper claymore...according to my fighting instructor.
It will kill if you are a horse with sugar cane legs!
@@williamlockhartnelson8873 Even a bad claymore is deadly. That tells a lot about Claymores.
@@irrespondible they are terrifying weapons. Both blade and pummel.
Ben showed so much passion and enthusiasm in the making process in the finals. Matt just seemed tired and wanted get over with it and money was his main motive. Matt is very skilled no doubt. But Ben is so meticulous with everything and his passion just takes it another level.
8:28 That clean cut was sooo satisfying to watch
Hit replay 7 times. Noice.
3:45
'My sword is capable of cutting much better than that'
Also his sword: doesn't keel.
Bens weapon was not only strong and deadly, but incredibly beautiful
Was Ben's pig madenout of butter? Holy moly macaroni, it just cuts like a lightsaber🔥🔥🔥😮😮😮
that is the way that sword has suppose be.. A Highlander charging with that sword and when he swung it it was suppose to go though 1 and 1/2 men
@@celticguy197531 And Ben's the only sword able to cut the pig. The Claymore was the final sword in a previous episode and one "Claymore" bent after hitting the pig and the other one broke apart into pieces.
@@irrespondible i know i have seen that episode there :)
8:27 holy mother of satisfaction... The sound and visual was perfect...
An Englishman making a perfect Slaughter Sword. They are truly the masters of learning from their opponents! 😅
Considering this is the second time a Claymore is the final blade and Ben's is the ONLY Claymore that was able to cut the pig... yeah, they learnt well.
@Peder Hansen Well, in the first attempt, one was too soft (likely trying to not make it heavy) and it ended up bending and staying bent, and the other one was just not hard enough and it broke. Then here, one bent and returned, the other one just... killed the pig.
They were so impressed with Bens sword they made him a judge! Technically, this makes this episode the first ever beat the judges episode
Second one I think. The first time Ben appeared on Forged in Fire was the one where they forged the Khanda.
4:23. The confidence in Ben is just superb
8:29 there’s something about the sound effect they added when the sword passed through that pig, but it gave me goosebumps.
4 Kill tests with Claymore using pig carcasses. 1 bends, 1 shatters, the first Forged in Fire Champion's blade cuts, but doesn't kill..... Then boooom!! Ben's Sword just cuts right through! Such amazing craftsmanship!
4:25 the gorgeous Damascus pattern.
No way!!!🙉😺
That sword has the liquid medal pattern!!
You have to see overly sarcastic production channel and watch Beowulf to understand what I am talking about and why am I so surprised about this sword! 😸
Probably the best kill test of the whole series. There's something mesmerizing about the way the blade just glides through that pig
i know this episode is way older and uploaded here cause lot of people were questioning the abilities of the judges , so here you have my fav judge ben
They guy is so humble about his skill when building that weapon.
That last cut was incredible like pass through butter.
There's a reason Ben's a judge now. I mean look at his Claymore, it's gorgeous.
Watching this over made me realise that what Matt thought was his inability to wield a two handed sword was actually a flaw in the swords thickness.
Never heard of this series till today, glad I found it though, it keels.
I have never seen a claymore slice so cleanly! The claymore, especially with media portrayal, always made me think that it would be more equipped for bludgeoning and making a sizable gashes that would be devastating but this is way way more impressive.
Yeah, I admit I know literally nothing about swords other than what is portrayed in Hollywood movies and video games and I always got the same idea, Claymores were basically big heavy sharp clubs. Similar to how a thick meat cleaver works, sharpish edge but relies on brute force and weight to do the work. I had no idea they were so much more... flexible and complex.
The point of the Claymore was that it could slice a horses head right off or cut a man in half.
I think its cause we see machetes and assume a claymore would operate in the same way, thats just me.
Have only seen that rocker dude's Falchion cut through the pig in one shot unless I'm forgetting others.
Ben.. amazing work! 🔥
the dude cut the godamn pig in half how are they stressed,
the dude: it will keel
When no one asked for a change in the episode challenges but they do it cause they are good ppl they want us to be forever entertained....
Thank you guys
How did Ben become a judge? Did he just apply for the job?
Also: lol@ Wil's hair
after he won twice and received his ABC certs the show had him come on to replace J while he was healing. Him and Jason Knight swapped back and forth. But everyone loved Ben so much they just had him stay.
He was a 2 time contestant before being offered the job. They were so impressed with his work and attitude and knowledge.
Plus what Saint said lol. Sry mate, it didn't load your comment before I left mine! Haha
You can see the pain in Doug's eyes when he says that the weapon will not keel
After watching clips from season 6 and beyond, i was shocked after a few seconds to realize that he is, in fact, the same host. That Shaun White cut will haunt me more than "it will not keeeelll"
His sword hangs on the wall now in every episode
Ben is a BEAST!
I love how everyone is so positive on this show. Game recognizes game
Fun Fact:
If Doug is not able to "keal", he must then find something to "kill".
So you could see Doug's visible relief when Ben's weapon cut through. : )
lol.
lmao
Gorgeous slice at the end. So smooth.
7:36 the blade shouldn’t have bent like that but to be fair, that was likely the worst edge alignment possible
5:30
Ben was ready to test his sword AND take his job
Finally episode that we waiting for. 💯
its awesome seeing Ben compete and win with such homemade and relatively primitive tools.
Here i go playing Highlander on "For Honor" again. Off I go ! Amazing swords!
One of the best trait of Ben and other judges is their methodical approach regardless the time limit. Their cool-headed approach is scary
"It Will not Kieell"
And ...congrats Ben
*keel
Ben should become a judge on this show
😂
He is haha
Shut up! 😂
“If I had to kill an ox, claymore would be my first choice, your grace.”
Dave Baker is the true Highlander 😎 would love to see him in For Honor 🔥
In other words, Ben made a blade that could literally cut a man in two in a single swing. No wonder the English called them "slaughter swords"!
8:33 - Matt knows he just lost.
if ben ever sold that claymore i wonder how much it would cost
It's kind of a historic artifact at this point
That slowmo feels like im watching butter being sliced demmmmmn
This was the first time I've seen something cut clean through those carcasses, wow
Ahhh the days before ben became a judge
I knew ben was undefeated and watched few impressive episodes of him. But seeing him go that extra mile since day 1 is something else
Ben's journey from contestant to judge really appreciated
8:28 that was so satisfying
That was gorgeous especially in comparison, beautiful creation and sharpness
Ben's sword is so perfect almost in every way. Want to see him compete with Dave. 😉
No way!!!🙉😺
That sword has the liquid medal pattern!!
You have to see overly sarcastic production channel and watch Beowulf to understand what I am talking about and why am I so surprised about this sword! 😸
The only way to beat Ben is doing a damascus pattern.
8:21 is he referring to himself?
"Both of your weapons are bulletproof, they're sharp and they're deadly" - well, one weapon won't keal, so only one is deadly.
And thus begins Ben's journey on FIF.
First time watching this, entertaining show!
So satisfying watching the claymore cut through a pig in slow motion!
"I'm pist at that pig right now"😂
So cool sword,i love this
That sword bent like a roundabout 🤦♂️ on a plus side the quilt looked amazing

Season 8: today you all will be making a Lightsaber
I’m from the future and I never knew that Ben was contestant I thought he was always a judge
Wow i love claymores, and this vid was even posted on the day of my birthday.
Amazing.. ♥️
and thus the journey of Ben as a judge in forged in fire begins
I am very happy to hear “it will not kill” 😍🥺
That heat treatment did alot of good haha.
I did love the flex blade too.
I have never seen pistol giving a real damage to a sword before, tho it looks cool i think hitting ice cube is much of a bigger challenge.
ive never heard doug say it will not kill
Going up against the masters is something amazing
The legend was born
Ben in his first competition and in this Champions version, he gave an extra in all, in the thecnique, in the details. He is a awesome champion, his blades are real art
Sugar canes : **cut with ease**
Pig : nah, I'll end this man hope & dreams
lol, thats harsh
If you watch it again. You can see that the blade was not straight when it hit the pig. The other claymore would have flexed too if it had hit with the blade at an angle.
That said.
I do think the right claymore won.
Rolf Harris
Neither of those points addresses the issue I mentioned.
@@charlie15627 Claymores were not meant to be sharp, nor are they meant to be light. The first one was all wrong for what a claymore actually was. If your sword can flex like that on flesh because it's at a slight angle - what good would it be hitting layered leather or even chain???
Robert Barnes
Your own statement exposes your ignorance on the subject.
A good sword WILL flex like a spring when the blade doesn’t strike straight and spring back straight. If not, it will either bend or be too hard and break when striking a solid object and in combat it is certain that it will not always strike squarely and it will strike solid objects.
Besides that, you did not address the issue I did mention.
bruh im addicted to these videos
I love Ben! He's a very talented, critical, and humble smith. He deserves to be a judge
6:26 "yeah, kill the horse" i laughed hard
8:21 yeah, me too
There can only be one!
