January 2021, doing this allowed me to at least get my surface pro books to work on outlet power. Still DO NOT work on battery, known issue, (makes them partial trash) but this re-set does get you operational if you have one of the surface books that would otherwise be trash.Thank’s for the help, killed 2 birds with one stone!

I followed along and then there was a moment where it asks me to put in my recovery keys. the keyboards dont work anymore, and it brings me to a screen that asks how I would like to install windows, and when i click either option, it takes me back to the beginning with no reset
What power button on an external usb keyboard? And you cannot get to the login window without the PIN. you get error 'something happened and your PIN isn't available'

I accidentally pushed the one that was recycle and then I canceled it when it was almost done because it said i could push ok or cancel and now it loads and tells me it can’t instal windows and to push ok to instal it and everytime i do it restarts and asks the same question can someone help please

No pressure to replace a unit if need be. I want to know about "data recovery"? Is there a way to save the data? That's my question? Folks are giving you lots of "High Five" but will this get me to a place to retrieve or restore data???

mine goes straight to "advanced options" without letting me reset. it has a pin as well if that's the issue
It will not reset for me. It will ask me for some sort of key. It says my organization product key or school. Is there a way around that?

Recovery key is specific to resetting an Apple product. I've never needed one for using Microsoft items
