This is one of the first trials you'll do as part of the Hunting Grounds side activity in Horizon Zero Dawn. I had some trouble mastering this particular trial so I decided to share what I learned in this video.
After 10 videos, finally someone did it the right and easy way! This was the easiest trial, and most tutorials show gamers using only regular arrows and shoot off one canister off at a time. I passed this first try. Every tutorial show people using the funniest and in my opinion the hard way. With R3 and tearblast arrows you can easily pass in one slow mo try! Great video.
I have been relying on fire arrows on them since I knew they were weak to fire. It didn't work obviously, because I took too long, and now I kinda regret it.
In order to use the Tearblast Arrows you need to own the Carja Sharpshot Bow not the Sharpshot Bow like you mentioned in your video. I mindlessly bought the Sharpshot bow then realized I needed the Carja Sharpshot bow instead. The vendor sells both.

Thanks for this. A couple of things I've noticed that are different trying this on PC in 2021 in case any PC folks happen along...
Your Tearblast arrows were getting 3-4 canisters per hit where mine only get 1. My standard arrows also get one canister per hit with a much higher rate of fire, so that seems a better approach since you need 10 hits either way. Zed comments two weeks ago that he needed Tearblast arrows to make this work, so I assume he's on a PS and it's a PS vs. PC thing. Or maybe it's a difficulty thing? I'm playing normal.
Also, those watchers seemed to just stand around, even when the herd spooked. My watchers are very aggressive and are all over me by the time the herd spooks. (I'm shooting crouched in the grass from the same spot you were...) So I can get off maybe 4-5 shots, then I have to kill 3 watchers, then I can get back to chasing the herd. You can certainly kill the watchers first, but that will spook the herd. Haven't tested enough to know whether it's any faster, but it's certainly safer.
It also looked like that herd stampeded away both times, whereas mine will always stampede right over my initial location. That might actually be helpful if I weren't fighting watchers right at that point. EDIT: Counter-clockwise vs clockwise seems to be random for the herd. Looks like they just happened to go CCW the first 4-5 times I tried it.
I hadn't played with that bow or the tearblasts, so this was quite useful. Thanks again.
EDIT: Ran it a few more times and normal arrows definitely = faster times on PC at normal difficulty.

when i shoot the canisters, it takes two shots instead of one. what's going on?
edit: it's because I was playing on Ultra Hard difficulty. I just figured that out lol. oh well

I think I just ASSUMED you had to use regular arrows because tearblast arrows seemed too cheap, and where you encounter the trial is immediately following the prologue, so odds are all you have are regular arrows, maybe fire arrows, and possibly precision... even if I had tearblast at that point I would have assumed it more of an exploit than a tactic, heh.

When I shoot the canisters why do the Grazers just die? I think they have changed this trial with updates now impossible. Been stuck on it for over 6 hours. Any bow I use the Grazers just drop dead or run as soon as I shoot one area on one canister.
It's because you have the difficulty set to Story or Easy. I was having this problem also as I'm casually going through the game on Story difficulty. So I set the difficulty to "Normal" to do the trial, hit 7 of them before they run, then just ran away from the watchers, jumped on the rope bridge and carried on and shot the last three. Managed to get the blazing sun after a few tries then put the difficulty back to Story. Hope this helps. :)
Ultra hard is easy, story or easy difficulty must be so boring
Give me mouse and keyboard and hardest will be fine , but im trash with the controller .... just bought a ps and its hard to aim man ....hard to aim :D

Hi tnx for the vid, what's the gameplay hours for the game?
30-40 hours for the main story without much side activities. 60+ for checking out everything in the game
WOW and here's me trying to freeze and shock them and try hitting the canisters off one at a time. This feels like cheating.
