Their name LE SSERAFIM is an anagram for IM FEARLESS. Also, this is one of their more popular songs. There were even various versions of this song released remixed by global artists like South Korean artists Bibi and Mirani, Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama, and American singer Demi Lovato. This song was released as a second single on their debut studio album titled “Unforgiven.” The song charted #8 US World Digital Song Sales (Billboard), #2 on South Korea’s Circle chart, #22 on Japan’s Hot 100, and #66 on Global Billboard 200.
Eve, Psyche, and the Bluebeard’s wife is a mix of jersey club and electro beat genre music. This song is about women breaking through hardships, stereotypes, and taboos. Eve, as we know the blibical story of the forbidden fruit, Psyche, born mortal but later became the Greek Goddess of the soul, whose beauty rivaled with Aphrodite. Psyche was punished by Aphrodite because Psyche fell in love with Eros (Cupid) and watched him while he slept in his true form. The Bluebeard’s Wife, a French fairytale (with a few versions), features Ariadne the 7th and final wife of Bluebeard. The story symbolizes the theme of specifically “women curiosity which leads to dire consequences” which I feel like is such a sexist ideaology but what’s why LE SSERA uses this as an empowering story. They mentioned all these stories by claiming their fearless livelihood. Back to story, Bluebeard is a wealthy/ powerful nobleman who married 6 women one by one whom all vanished without a trace. He then finds his next wife, his neighbor's youngest daughter I believe, and they move to the countryside to Bluebeard’s luxury. Bluebeard gives his wife his castle’s or palace’s MAGIC keys to open any room she’d like and explore but forbids her from entering his underground chamber. Ariadne ventures until she finally stumbles across the room, opens it, and finds the room flooded with blood and the corpses of Bluebeard’s previous 6 wives hanging heads on hooks of the walls. Ariadne in fear runs and drops the keys in a pool of blood but grabbed them to wipe them off. However, they were stained and as they were magic keys could not be cleaned. Bluebeard returns, finds the bloody keys and knows what happens. He threatens to unalive her, but is defeated by Ariadne and her family. In the end, Ariadne inherits her late husband’s castle, wealth, and gracefully lays Bluebeard’s victims to rest. Also, it should be mentioned that Bluebeard also stole the wealth of his late wives and only did something to them when they “disobeyed” him. But yea, I just wanted to explain this story bc I know people have never heard of it before and it is quite an interesting tale overall but can reference a lot of societal issues today.

LE SSERAFIM just had a comeback btw with their mini album “Easy.” Ppl have been hating on them this era for some reason but that is what happens when a GIRL GROUP starts expanding global fame. Yall should check it out and they even made an Afrobeat/Amapiano infused song on the album called “Smart” it’s very good. The way LE SSERA are in my top 3 ULT ggs just after short time is crazy.

When you watch Unforgiven you'll understand where the arrow came from:) EP&BW is the definition of viral. Started out as an intro on the previous album, got so popular they turned it into a full-fledged song. Was a b-side and got so opular they made it into an MV. The dance challenge got soooo popular, EVERYONE knows the point moves. They even made a remix challenge where people could add their own verse into the song, and everyone from Bibi to XG participated. Truly impressive

Despite really liking this song and despite knowing about Eve and Psyche, this is the first time the name of the song has clicked (and their anagram, just realised that too). The MV with the painting and apple was really cool, too! As a mythology fan, I'm glad they chose Psyche for the name. Her story is fascinating!

Psyche (sigh-key) is the Greek goddess of the soul. LE SSERAFIM has been invited to perform at Coachella, the first girl group to do so since Blackpink. That's interesting because there are so many great new girl groups in K-pop right now. But, as a Blink, it's great to see another girl group get attention in this way. I've wondered why, after BP had such great success in 2019 and 2023, that this hadn't already happened, but now it has.
There are "fans" who claim that this or that idol can't sing - Jisoo being one of them - or dance, or is ugly, or whatever. It's all part of the underlying toxicity that exists in K-pop. I learned to ignore them for the most part, as have Idols who maintain their mental health.
That's awesome that they are going to Coachella. Should be epic.
Do you mean headline? Because 2022 had 2NE1’s surprise reunion with CL, Bibi, and Aespa perform. Also for guys, Epik High returned from 2016 and Jackson was there so there’s a fair bit of participation for that year. I agree there’s plenty of female groups who would do well, but also I believe this one music festival gets used as a gauge of success disproportionately.

AESPA wasn't invited to perform by Coachella, but by a music agency who invited various groups/artists to do a couple of songs. Same with 2NE1 and the rest aren't girl groups. I meant and said "invited by Coachella", meaning they get their own stage and are able to do a complete set, not just a song or two. BP's performances at Coachella in 2019 were what truly launched them into International stardom because music fans all over the world pay attention to who performs there and who does well, so it's not a gauge of success in and of itself but a prime stepping stone to success that some grab and some don't. So it's a big deal to be invited to perform there.

The only reason I made my original comment was, as I said, I have been surprised that the selection committee for Coachella has taken so long to invite another K-pop girl group, considering how well BP did. I wasn't putting down any other appearances, just noting that discrepancy.

Contrary to what you might think, no one is criticizing Sakura's skills now. This is a story from the early days.
She started her idol career in Japan, and Japanese idols and Korean idols are very different. When she was in Japan, she didn't have any training at all.
When Japanese idols and Korean trainees participated in an audition program called Produce 48, the Koreans were shocked and the Japanese were shocked because it was the same idol but so different.
At that time, "Sakura" also got scolded a lot by her teachers. That's the story of that time.
In the beginning, Japanese idols had no skills at all, but after they were properly trained, their skills grew at a crazy rate from the middle to the end. On the contrary, the Japanese idols had the advantage of having a lot of experience on stage, so their expressiveness and professionalism became a big advantage. The irony of how many people were drawn to this song which is about following curiosity by their own curiosity about the title is amusing to me.
This quote I found is a pretty concise explanation. I have to admit I did need to look up the story details when this debuted. “Eve, Psyche, and Bluebeard's wife all desired what was forbidden to them: the apple, a glimpse of their hidden lover, and the secret chamber. The song is about rejecting the rules set for you, breaking taboos, and risking "corruption" and a fall from grace for the sake of desire and self-actualization”
I’ve been waiting for this one, it definitely is a song and MV transcends the typical definitions of KPop. There are a few truly inspired moments where camerawork and editing really enhance the choreo.

Le sserafim is a good time :) I like them. The remixed version with Jurin (from XG) and Bibi is also a great take on this song if you want a little rap mixed into it :) worth watching / listen to. I am such a fan of 4th generation girl group's choreo, it has taken huge leaps forward into gender neutral. What I mean is .. 2nd generation girl groups and most in 3rd generation used choreo that was girly, feminine, used their sexuality as opposed to the masculine, strong choreo of male groups. The 4th generation girl groups have strong choreo for either male or female groups. Did that make sense? 🤔
