    I wish India would start making cars like 1980s Saab and Volvo. Just solid cars that aren't focused on performance. A bit like what Royal Enfield are doing. So bored with new soulless cars these days

      I mean, we do make them. Cars here are more focused on feature,comfort and Mileage. Indians love their fuel economy. For performance, expect an average of 150hp and 250nm torque on most cars. They also love SUV cuz of the mindset of bigger=better. So just like anywhere in the world, sedans and hatches are on the decline while SUV’s are being sold more. But I’m pretty sure manuals will never go away from India. Mainly due to the low maintenance and higher fuel efficiency it gives.

      The myriad of Gov't limits in the US on car design keeps us from having simple old cars like the old honda civics. I was never enamored with the old Saabs and Volvos but love the simple cars.

    Nice looking bike for the price point. Personally I don’t think any bike under 70hp needs riding modes or TC so don’t see that as an issue. I’m thinking this would be a great base motorcycle for some custom work.

    47 hp if fine and it does put out a good amount of torque for its air cooled engine! It can go anywhere and ride anywhere in the world. My 2008 Harley that weighs about 300 pounds more only puts out 68HP and it is over 1000cc... I had a INT650 and MT-03 and they were about the same in the acceleration but the INT650 was much better on the highway WAY BETTER because it did not get thrown around

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L Před 3 měsíci +4

      Good points there JJ ... added weight is a good thing, it gives you that 'planted' feeling. HP? Torque? I don't care ... it's all about propulsion and how it feels. I reckon the Shotgun is a great bike. I'd be happy to own one.

    • @jujuUK68
      @jujuUK68 Před 2 měsíci +2

      People who think 47bhp is fine, have never ridden a SV650. That's 68bhp, and is such a well balanced bike, with adequate performance that's still very managable for the inexperienced. Its not a sports bike, but that extra means you can still pass cars safely, and keep up to sped on a motorway.

    • @johnjay6370
      @johnjay6370 Před měsícem

      @@jujuUK68 I agree with you but how much is the sv650, about 1.5k more, and does not have the classic look. Look at the Kawasaki w800, it cost about 4k more and has about the same power. The int650 is a good bike and i wish it had more power, but i had one and it was powerful enough to have fun on too! I testrode a CFMOTO 650 and it did not feel as good as the INT650. It was more powerful, but honestly not a crazy difference, it has about 65hp. I bet it is because the rev curve during normal or fun driving,(not maxed out), is very similar or better on the int650. Both my MT-03 and INT650 were about the same in 0-60 and that is about 6seconds... that is better than most pony cars of about 10 years ago, before the hp wars.. I grew up where a top tear v8 pony card would not even break 6 seconds. I don't know why the hate, you can get these bikes new now for a little under 5K!!!

    Bought a 2020 650 Interceptor just before my 70th birthday. It felt anemic at 47hp/470 pounds so after 3 years I put WiseCo 83.5mm pistons and S&S cam in it. Totally different bike, now at almost 40,000 miles and I will keep it; meanwhile I cannot imagine the 47hp with another 60-70 pounds/bulk over the Continental GT and Interceptor.

      Good on ya mate! I have an Interceptor too but here in India, the roads are so bad that even the 47 bhp seems a tad too much considering the handling prowess of this motorcycle. I can imagine giving more bhp to match its competitors will also up the cost of the rest of the components to keep up with the additional power but RE also has given the option to do so if you want and if we round up the costs to properly fit the upgrades, it will match the price/power of the competitors. I too have the Interceptor and it was just in budget for me as there are no 650 parallel twin in this price point.

    RE is IMO taking the industry by storm. Not sure who took over but, they are nailing it. Just wish they would bring back the 500 RE Classic. This is the bike so many truly want. I have a few HD V-twins so going to a 350 is just to small. A 500 sounds better for me and others with middle ground of weight and power. Or RE could offer some BBK's getting the 350 near 500cc at least with some performance mods could be a fun ride. Great daily rider easy to get off stand and easy to get in out of garage.

    Sheet Metal Grey or Drill Green for me please. I wish this bike was fitted with Metzeler Cruisetecs as OEM tyre fitment. Overall, the Shotgun ticks the boxes for a modern-day "messenger bike". I don’t think 47hp was inadequate in the interceptor so it could make for a decent first big bike or a nice second bike for country lanes. Many thanks for sharing your experience!

    It is not oil-cooled! It is a simple air-cooled engine, with an additional oil cooler. Huge difference. An oil cooled engine uses oil as a coolant (as well). From the cooler the oil goes directly to the cylinder head and absorbs some of the excess heat before returning to the reservoir. This cooler is used to maintain the oil temperature, true, but the oil is not used as a coolant.

    To have a little 650 motorcycle referenced to as heavy or massive is just hilarious. Love the Europeans and sometimes Australians for their odd humor. RE finally starts to make a bike that you may be able to safely ride on the road and the big, massive, hefty, beast type words start coming forth. Too funny. Love the bike and it would be a nice little run about on the back country roads here in the states. I’d buy one but not paying the new purchase fees that bump it up into barely used Triumph territory.

    I really like this bike. It has no direct competition at its price point. However one point- it should be of the long stroke type (as all other single cyl RE bikes are) which is important for air cooled bikes for better cooling with more fins- and better gas mileage too without loss of much power. Long stroke air cooled bikes can have higher compression ratios- more power better gas mileage.

      And they wear better than the frantic short stroke screamers. Not saying short strokers arent fun but these 650s are a relatively simple, unhassled, keeper motorcycles.

    48hp wasn’t too much on the cbr500r but it certainly was enough for commuting and romps about. I think it depends on the mentality of what your buying. My cbr500r i really didn’t know how fast that was going to be (2nd bike i was ever on) so it seemed lackluster for power especially given its cool looks.

    Lovely looking bike. In one respect, it's in the same class as a Rocket III, it's a cruiser with a modern twist!
    Two negative points for me, it's just too heavy for it's size and class, there's no need for it to be that heavy. Secondly, for the Euro market, I'd argue that RE don't need to match the competition on power, but likewise 55%(ish) of the power output of the competition isn't good enough. I've noticed some comments berating others for holding the same opinion as me, but if I'm expected/required to conform to somebody else's opinion, there's a political definition for that. I won't go there.

    Biggest negative is its weight how does it outweigh kawasaki z650 rs by almost 50 kilograms? pair that with 40 something horses compared to z650.Less power more weight and you can just imagine the kind of performance it can offer compared to same displacement motor.Royal Enfield 650 might not even be faster or as nimble as a Eliminator 450

    It's the best looking RE 650 imo, looks such a useful 'just a bike', and I'm guessing (???) even tho power is only 6hp or so above the new Himalyan 450 and is much heavier, this Shotgun makes a better plodder at real life speeds. And at the price just above a midsize 300-400 scooter with much of the practicality. Mmmm, as they say
