A small velcro on the bottom of the SSD would stop it from moving around in you glove box Dave.
Just remember you are about doubling the power consumption with the T7 compared to the usb stick. 4 watts when recording.
Correct a 2TB gets warmer, more transistors conducting 😁

Tesla models S, 3, X, Y and Cybertruck
Does your Samsung get hot in a hot weather? Tesla's official 1 TB gets hot. And I mean HOT like 60+ degrees Celsius or 140+ Fahrenheit. Burns when you touch it.
CT glove box is not air conditioned, right?
I put a SANDISK 4TB ssd that I had in there and ended up removing it because I was worried about how hot it got. Probably not enough to cause a fire, but why take a chance?
I’ll measure the temp
You mentioned you didn't get a 2T model because it's expensive. Amazon currently has the 1T model for $120, which isn't cheap either.
So why Samsung when you can get others for $70-80 ? BTW, several reviews on Amazon mention a flaky cable that comes with the Samsung.

Not all SSDs are equal. And you don't want it to fail when you need it...
I said you can use anything comparable try and report
