  • In this film Mikael ties his most famous fly The Classic Phatakorva. His best buddy Håkan Norling shows up as a guest, tying his Original Tempeldog. Watch the two tie simultaneous, different techniques but with the similar thoughts on what makes a great fly. These two famous patterns have taken tens of thousands of great fish around the world and in many ways changed the modern tube fly for humus coloured water. A unique film where two of the world’s best known tiers show you their stile & tricks.
    If you want to tie or fish your own Pahtakorva Classic, we offer you customized Pattern of the Month packs with fly tying materials and ready flies. Buy one-time packs, or better-join the popular subscription and get the packs delivered to you automatically every month at a beneficial price.

    Mikael, You had quite a famous crowd watching you tie. It's a sad note, but Mel and Lefty are both gone, but their contributions are still among us. Really loved watching you both tie. Gary gave me my first pair of wading shoes back in 1977.

    Fun see you tie same pattern! But different and I would fish both of those actually be good have them both in the box. Small differences do matter some picky days.
    I tie my own flies sense the end of 70s and triple wing on a cone do make sure profile stays high even in heavy currents!
    In old days I did use yarn or chenille as a bulb to support the wing. Now we just use the cone much more durable. You both very known for your job full credit hat off !
    And you change how we tie tube flies now the days!
    I still use the old 2" brass tube in June in Norway and more or less I go on tre pattern. Silver/grey
    Jock/scott
    Black/doctor
    Even on big single hooks.
    Tie flies have become a own sport who is awesome to see outcome of.
    As we say shit fishing at you both 👍

    Nice video! Is it a updated color on the alta gold braid? Looks brighter and more shiny, like the old lagartun.

    Great video. Very interesting. I wonder about the tube length in relation to the hook placement. Do you sometimes leave the back of the tube long and then cut it?

    • @frodinflies
      @frodinflies  Před 2 lety

      Hi Ernst, personally i never do it. i want the hook in the center of the fly. Fish it fast on they will grabb it straight across!
