- Watch Mikael tie this modern version of one of his oldest patterns, one that he fished since the early eighties. This fly gave him one of his salmon over 20 kilos. It’s a quite simple black fly pimped with extra flash with inspiration from one of the most classic of all patterns - The Black Doctor. It works well in a bit of humus but also on the clear river on a cloudy day. We prefer to fish it with dressed loose bodies or a bare fluor orange or black FITS tubing. Black Doctor is one of my favourite for the dark ! And so many ways of tie this fly !
The BTT is awesome product that cone open up motions!
At fall I also prefer a lighter fly and think the more motion we can give the fly as more chance we up for a strike!
And you said it a sea trout fly is normally bit more heavy dressed then a salmon fly.
That have whit time of the year also a bit to do I say. Because a aluminium 1" tube whit a 3" goat wing fished high whit fast speed is a killer in it's own!
That's a slim fly but it moves swims.
Fun see how different we tie today compared to the end of 70s when I'm started flyfishing and tie tubes of mostly copper brass 1-3" and we got so far now !

I’d call that modern version of famous trout fly ”Juutuan yö ” from old hardy’s collection. Origins from north Finnish Lapland river Juutua witch has big trout from lake Inari up to 20 pounds.

the btts dont work as shown in your video no matter how hard you pull the tubbing into it it just spins on the xs tubbing
Dont understand this..spinns? why couldnt it spinn? hmm... maybe you tie on the wrong needle?
@@frodinflies using your fits needle that came with the fits starter kit i havent had a problem with the smaller ones or the ttts just the large btt maybe i just got unlucky and got a loose one 🤣
