Everyone is commenting on his sarcasm but you know he wasn't being sarcastic. That's what made it funny, that he was being completely honest and saying what he thought. There wasn't a word of sarcasm in that speech.

Jerry's speaches are great. Even greater than this possibly was his "Actors, they only say the words, writers have to think them up and write them down. Then the actor gets a big award for basically reading out loud what somebodyelse thought and wrote for them." .....When put that way, recall that "writers strike"! That was a necessary thing.
What an amazing guy, Jerry Seinfeld. He can take any topic and just shred it. Shred it up to pieces. Without even breaking a sweat. Just like that. That's the kinda comedy we need. Shredding something up for the sake of shredding it up.
...And I think spending your life trying to dupe innocent people out of hard-won earnings to buy useless, low-quality, misrepresented items and services is an excellent use of your energy... ahahaha

Jerry is the best at destructively funny speeches. They wanted the best.
He wrote most of that and memorised it; unlike the even more fabulous (and notorious) HBO awards speech, when he had cards. He is absolutely the master of these things, partly because he says what everyone in the room is really thinking. Nothing is funnier than really, seriously honest comedy.
Most people are not as smart as Jerry, thus are brainwashed into thinking that the product is wonderful and cool. And even necessary. Why do Americans eat crap food en masse and drink crap drink....advertising. Why do they have 1001 things in their homes that they don't need...advertising.
