Yoda is all knowing, he is 900yrs old!
@@zaklowry5791 I mean he didn’t realize Palpatine was the Sith Lord so… his judgement is definitely still clouded by the dark side
Dude how did u find that Yoda clip, you're channel is so full of interesting tid bits I never knew of ,this is my go to place ,great job ,keep the info coming,ty keep up the great work
@@georgemessersmith2605 thanks for the support!!
It's a shame that we never saw yoda fight in the original trilogy, it was planned, but then they realized that making a puppet fight would be too difficult, anyway i hope for a cameo of Joda in the kenobi series.
"I can't kill my own father."
I've always assumed that was *why* they never said it.
They probably figured that Luke would have to kill *both* Vader and Palpatine, somehow...
Had Luke found out after killing Vader and palpatine it would have definitely turned him to the dark side. I think they wanted to tell him once he had the perception of a Jedi.
Somehow and Palpatine in the same sentence and yet its not cursed.
The reason for not telling Luke was still there when Yoda says “not ready for the burden…” also it was implied that they had together agreed to protect Luke from the terrible truth.
Having Yoda control Kenobi is too similar to the Sith where palpatine controls what Vader can and cannot do. Also Jedi don’t follow orders when they know what the right thing to do is different.
Instead both yoda and Kenobi have their own agency and both choose to protect Luke because they both know it’s the right thing to do.
Not true. The Jedi Council gives implicit instructions and expects them to be followed. Yoda was the Grand Master of the Jedi Council. He led the council. Obi-Wan would have continued to view him as such and would have obeyed his Master's instructions.
Or we could just acknowledge the truth - that Lucas later decided to make Vader Luke's father, and so what Ben told Luke had to be retconned.
@@Malt454 It wasn't really retconned. It was always the truth- from a certain point of view.
@@alliesoapway1076 - Just like Solo "returned fire" on Greedo. There are no mistakes in Star Wars... only "things that some people don't understand".
@@alliesoapway1076 100% retconned, similar to leia being Luke’s sister - that was never originally intended (they even had that infamous kissing scene). Lucas changed his mind over a lot of Star Wars lore
Sometimes the deleted scenes, being left out, takes away from the story, and should be left in. Like when Anikin goes to Padme's parent's home. What a great scene, makes things feel more real and personal between the two. Other times yes, the story could be going in the wrong direction if the screen is left in and that's understandable.
Ah yes, I saw that scene. Totally should have been kept in. Maybe if they ever re-release the prequels...eh, just a thought.
A darker version would be good to see maybe from anakins point of view.
@chrisdrewry4073 What do you mean?
I always agreed with Obi's decision not to tell him he wasn't ready for that info in New hope.
That he didn't tell Luke is not the problem. That he acted in such a manipulative a$$hole way like a lying schmuck when called out on it is the issue. You ask yourself, "If he seemingly had no trouble doing THIS, what OTHER manipulative lies has he spewed out? How can he be trusted at this point? Is this how a Jedi behaves?".
but not telling Luke that Anakin became Darth Vader made it all the more painful for luke when he found out in The Empire Strikes Back
@@CsRj2854 what crap you chattin he was perfectly fine and have no issues with kenobi lol
That would have been such a game changer in the trilogy that I believe Luke would have faced Vader in a different way. Not to save his father but to destroy him and the Emperor to redeem Yoda. Love this deleted clip. Hope there is so much more.
Hope to win this Yoda sword to carry on the Jedi tradition
Redeem Yoda?
The only one in need of redeeming is Yoda, if only he listened to Anakin
Yes it would have been nice to know Obi-Wan wasn't being heartless but I always suspected something like this. That's also why they split the twins up, to reduce the chance they would both be found and converted by Palpatine.
That would have been really good if they had kept Yoda’s dialogue from this in in the final cut. Nice to see it here.
It may not be included but it’s canon in my eyes
Yoda has always has been my favorite and I always thought there should have been more that he needed to tell Luke before he died like something was missing. Glad to know I was right and it was just edited out. Thanks for the content.
To be honest, even when I watched the original trilogy the first time, well before the prequels came out, I always figured it was Yoda who decided that Obi-Wan couldn't tell Luke. Yoda was Obi-Wan's teacher, so it made sense to me that Obi-Wan followed his lead. I also find it interesting that everyone (in canon) seems to think that Luke is super likely to Fall to the Darkside, while no one seems worried about Leia. To me it suggests that because Luke was a boy who looked similar (though smaller) to his father, everyone kind of assumed he'd take after Anakin personality wise, while Leia was assumed to have her mother's personality....when in reality both twins have equal amounts of their parents in them, and it's the situations the adults around them put them in that further forces them into their parents' roles. As the original trilogy plays out (much of it filmed before it was even decided that Luke and Leia were twins so there's an element of maybe Lucas unconsciously threw it in), there's still a whole lot of hints that the twins genders/looks don't reflect which parent they take after.
That deleted scene almost gives the whole movie a new meaning.
no it doesnt
I never really had an issue with how Obi-Wan handled the issue. A certain point of view is how I would look at it too.
Look you gotta lie to the kid without lying. It's also called "There's a time and place for everything".
He did what HAD to be done..the fate of the galaxy rested on it.
@@brockbaby exactly. People who have raised children know this. But Gen-X and milennial movie critics (who have never raised kids, I might add) think that Obi-wan should have traumatized Luke with the truth and risked him going away to the Imperial Academy and not even joining the Rebellion, so that he could be with Darth Vader.
Funny how they put an impossibly high standard on morally good characters (Obi-wan) but then relax those standards on morally evil characters that they love (Jaime “kid killer” Lannister, Maleficent, Flint Marko, Elphaba, Illidan, Sylvanas Windrunner, Garrosh Hellscream, Darth Maul, even the devil himself)
It was really cool to see this deleted scene. You are right about how Yoda's dialog regarding Luke being told Vader was his father should have been left in the movie.
I am a Star Wars fan since 1977. The scene where Yoda says he told Kenobi to not say anything was new to me, thank you for posting
I’ve been a Star Wars fan my whole life and only found out about it shortly before making this video… there’s always new scenes to be discovered which is what my channel is all about 😎 I’m glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the support!
I see you guys going back and forth, and it's great that after all these years we are still talking about Star Wars. I miss George Lucas -- his wisdom and influence over the Star Wars universe. But when I look at some of the stuff that is being produced, I can honestly say that we are being looked after. The best is yet to come, folks. "This is the way..."
Yoda seemed to keep lots of secrets throughout and this was just another one that would come out and have people wondering why.
I can’t wait for the kenobi series. There is literally so much potential for many awesome ideas and scenes that can happen and i think it’s going to be an epic addition to Star Wars
I think it’s going to be Disney+ most successful series yet. If they thought the Mandalorian pulled in a lot of new customers just wait for Obi Wan.
I completely forgot about the Kenobi series. There's a lot of potential for this series and Book of Fett. I think both of them will be as highly popular as The Mandolorian, if not more. Kenobi and Fett are my favorite characters, so I have hope for each series. I know the Mandolorian got myself and others hooked to Disney+. These next two will bring in more folks and hopefully bring balance to the fandom.
If I'm not mistaken, isn't the show supposed to follow Obi Wan after he left Luke to his "uncle" on Tatooine?
@@johnvermette9466 yes, many adventures to be had in the jundland wastes are a wild and dangerous place
Disney will find a way of destroying it
I liked your story about how you refused to watch ROTJ because you heard that Yoda died and had to get coached into watching it by your Dad. I think a lot of Star Wars fans have fun and interesting memories from their childhood like this that we take with us for the rest of our lives.
This is very very true. So many of us are so passionate about Star Wars because of how nostalgic it is for us… thanks for the support!

Did you mean 'coaxed' rather than 'coached'?
1:23 I have that exact same Darth Vader helmet and lightsaber as a kid too, and still have both to this day
Ahah nice bro 😂😂
I've always wondered how Luke would have reacted if Yoda had told him about Leia then... But, seeing and living under the Empire's rule all his life, he knew (or perhaps thought) that he was the galaxy's last hope and would have stayed focused, or would he have followed the dark side... For myself, I've always perceived Luke as being truly a Grey Jedi , just like Qui Gon Jin was . Loved your analysis of this question. I hope we'll have some answers in the Kenobi serie
Thanks for the support 😎
I think what George Lucas wanted to point out is that we are all capable of crossing both lines, that none of us are perfect. But in the end, to those who choose to walk in the light, good things are bound to come. Victory. Triumph.
When I was a kid a friend of mine and I used to try to think of different ways of making the Millennium Falcon because it was just that awesome. So far the only thing that has taken me back to that time was Luke Skywalker's return in the Mandalorian. Thank you for all the work you're doing
I have watched the Star Wars movies for all of my life. That little tidbit was something I had only guest at. Thanks.
Thanks so much for the adding footage. It changes much of my train of thought.
Yoda and Obi Wan are my two favourite Star Wars characters.
That scene would have answered a lot of unanswered questions.
Thanks for the new outlet for more Star Wars info. looking forward to checking out more videos
That’s actually awesome that you found that. Can’t believe there’s more that we haven’t seen. Keep up the great videos bro!
I appreciate you taking the time to post these videos! They are awesome and extremely entertaining! Looking forward to seeing your new ones as they come out. May the Force be with you!!!
Thank you for the support! I’m glad you enjoy
Great video. It would have been nice to see that line in the final cut, or at least in the Special Edition, but it really wouldn't change much for me. Even as a kid, I understood that Kenobi was holding back info due to a bigger plan for the fall of the Sith. Plus, it inferred that Luke had to understand that a Jedi must act carefully due to different ways of understanding a situation. Again, great find with that dialogue
It’s so cool to discover these scenes after so many years of loving these movies! Thanks for the breakdown man 👍🏽
I really enjoy all your hard work to bring all the raw deleted footage known. I my self am always looking for answers to the unknown, thank you.
The explanation you gave on why Yoda forbid obi wan to not reveal the whole story to luke about his father was spot on.
I know if I found out my pop was one of the best and most powerful jedi/war hero, and he was alive, I for sure would of dropped everything and ran off to locate him.
And in the case of luke the jedi would be no more if obi wan prematurely spilled the beans to luke. Cause i 100% agree that Sidius and Vader would of trained luke in the sith way. And it would of been handed to them on a silver platter.
And it might have been hard for a young man to learn that his father was evil. It brings up questions of destiny that Luke shouldn't have to bear.
When I first saw this as a young child, I lost a lot of respect for Obi Wan when I found out that he’d lied about Anakin/Vader. For me back then, being a liar was one of the worst things you could be, so how could Obi Wan have been good if he was a liar? Amazing how a child’s mind works, isn’t it?
"Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is." - Yoda
Because Luke wouldn't have wanted to learn to become a Jedi
I think I was either 12 or 14 when I saw ROTJ. I didn't loose any respect for Obi-Wan at all. When he said Darth Vader killed his father he was actually right in a twisted sort of way. Also I understood why he didn't tell him the complete truth also, it was to protect him. If he would've known the truth at a young age Vader would've seeked him out.
He,did that to protect Luke remember he said certain point of view,he was remembering Ankin as he was before turning to the dark side he made a clear distinction between Vader and Ankin in how he told Luke the story .
but what he told Luke was true...... from a certain point of view......
It feels so good to have a video like yours. To rekindle my love for Star Wars. After the Disney era books and sequels took it away. Thank you for adding more amazing details to the source material! ❤
Thank you for the contest. Loved the video!
I always thought it odd that Ahsoka, Obi-wan, and Padme, failed to comprehend how vulnerable Anakin might be to the Darkside. All the clues were there, and Darth Maul and Dooku even talked about the plot. Yoda seemed to foresee the errors of the Jedi Council and decided to let the plot play out; he certainly sensed what was going on after his encounter with the Whills. So it is not surprising that he resorted to deception to prevent Luke from thinking Anakin was still alive and could simply be talked out of the grip the Darkside had on him. When Ahsoka realized Anakinn was alive, she was lucky to have survived her compassion for Anakin. Obi-wan is going to discover in the new series that he can't access Anakin either. Yoda seemed to be preparing Luke to find the strength to defeat Vader and not strike out at Palpatine in anger. This was a clever play by Yoda to train up Luke this way. It always seemed like his training left him unprepared, but obviously by design. Luke knew just enough to get the job done, and then harmonize some of light and dark to avoid the mistakes the Jedi Council had made.
I think Padme didn't really understand the whole light-dark side thing, but the other two just didn't want to believe their brother could ever fall to the dark side, let alone be so entrenched so quickly.
He obviously did the right thing, there would have been no way to stop the father son duo except if Leia was more powerful and a straight up gangster!
I think Leia would have been turned as well.
She was quicker to anger than Luke. She's also very vengeful. Which is justified but still she'd be a huge risk.
I'm sure, like near on certain, in the OG extended canon before the Disney retcon, Leia was taught the force by Luke to protect her son's until they were ready for training themselves.
Thx for the info. It was nice seeing a little more history into such an emotional moment.
Very important aspect covered in your video. Thank you!
Before this video, I had no idea that there was a deleted scene during Yoda’s death. I also really enjoyed this video
Awesome video!! This would have changed my perception of Obi-Wan.. although I always knew their was a purpose for him not divulging that information to Luke, this would have made it clear to the character himself, not just the viewer.
This is the first video of yours that I've seen! Subscribed for more content. Also, a lightsaber would be epic 😎 👌
Thanks for the support I’m glad you enjoyed 😎
Love the fact that you are doing these.
New to your channel. I really enjoyed this deleted scene and how it impacts the series. Thank you for posting.
I think something that we are learning from today's movies that make them a little better is that things are not always black and white, that there are some gray areas.
I think that it would've been cool to see Luke struggle more with the dark side, to find justifications for going dark and come back to the light. Some of this stuff is just glossed over too quickly for the sake of time.
May The Force be with us always.
Great video love that you get into the details!!💪
Thanks for these clips dude. That Luke helmet hit on Vader is very consistent with Kenobi, Rebels, a saga of parallels. Keep up the good work champ👍
The line would have been nice. I also believe that they wasted a lot of potential with the character in the original series. That was probably due to the fact that he was a puppet in the 70s and 80s. It would have been nice for them to explain how he went from bouncing off walls with a saber to barely getting around in such a short amount of time.
I think it was because he was over 900 years old and Degoba is a darkside nexus planet. He went there because it would mask his lightside and make it easier to hide from Vader/ and later on cannon Inquisitors. At the same time it probally took a whole shitload of his strength to shield himself from the powerful eminence of the darkside from the planet. Thus accelerating his demise. Just a theory.
@@kerfax That sounds like a great theory in cannon to explain it in universe but I still think it was the fact the character was a puppet in the original movie series. Star Wars brought special effects to a new level. I think they were just limited to the tech of the time.
no reason to explain it. He was old and he often used Dark Side stuff to kick ass. It sapped his soul, basically.
I want to say that the novels ( or "Art of" books) for ESB or ROTJ stated that Yoda was so strong and in tune with the Force that he didn't use a lightsaber because he could resolve conflicts without it. I don't think that was entirely related to the fact that it was a puppet, but part of the character's core identity. Seeing Yoda use a lightsaber at all in EpII was pretty jarring to me. If Yoda does show up in the Kenobi series, it would be great to see more of his transition from a saber warrior to a Force only zen master (the final seasons of Clone Wars start showing this process).
He was never supposed to have a lightsaber.
I've often wondered why Yoda and Obi-wan didn't each take one of the twins to raise if they believed only Anakin's offspring could defeat Darth Vader and Sidious. The Jedi made it so clear in the prequels that they didn't want to train children that were "too old." As it turns out Luke is even older than his father had been when Obi-wan finally starts training him and Leia doesn't get trained until after Luke. Is there any canon explanation for this? Do you have your own theory or opinion?
P.S. I would love to win that beautiful lightsaber. Please enter me in the running if you like my question. Thanks!
My opinion: Leia - daughter of a Senator and royalty of Alderran? Not only is that a better life than Dagobah - but it's a good cover. Luke: He had semi relatives and also that planet was a decent hideout. Finally - if Obi Wan or Master Yoda were with Luke or Leia all the time - wouldn't their Force Signal combine, and be so strong that Palpatine or Vader would sense it?
Just now found your channel and I LOVE it!!!
Dont know how I found this but really enjoyed this. Subbed! The first movie I ever saw in the cinema was Jedi in 83, I had just turned 4 and vividly remember the experience. Been in love with Star wars ever since! Look forward to checking out more of these deleted scenes I haven't seen!
Count me in on the lightsabre comp please! 😊
May the force be with you!
Thanks for letting me know about these deleted scenes, I also think this would have been a far better way for finding out the truth and added extra effect to Yoda's Death (Its always amazing when you find out what scenes get deleted in various movies that could have had massive changes on a movie (For example I heard somewhere that in the last Harry Potter Movies Dudleys Redemption Ark got deleted from the movie (So they did film it), and it was a scene I loved in the books that would have gone great in the movies and changed a lot of movie watcher only peoples opinion of him)
I’m also a huge Harry Potter fan. I read the books when I was young but I’ve seen the movies countless time. That would have been a cool scene. These directors and editors trim down crucial parts of a movie just to get it to a certain run time. I don’t care if the movie is 4 hours long
That was very interesting and yeah, it could have considerably changed the way many of us ended up viewing Kenobi. What made George remove such an important line of dialogue from the finished cut? It's not as if it would have affected the run time.
Great video. Never saw that scene before. Thank you.
Amazing video mate
Well maybe they deleted that to keep Yoda mysterious as always he saw more than he spoke of. I remember seeing this when it came out. I'm not sure if it would have influenced me either way. Thanks for sharing 🙂

I just found your channel today and it’s fantastic 👊👊👊
Would have changed some people's views for sure but Yoda knew what he was doing and Obi-Wan had to of been convinced of the same and why Luke followed same path with Rey
"... had to have", not "... had to of"
As Yoda being the wisest of all jedi masters, all his decisions worked out how he hoped. What I think is interesting though is I wonder if Yoda really did have such a knowledge of the force that he predicted everything even the final destruction of the emperor and the end of the final order on the sith home world, or was is just destiny that the will of the force was to prevail over the darkside..
Remember how he warned palpatine that his faith in his new apprentice was misplaced? As painful as Anakin’s turn was, yoda knew he’d eventually turn back.
So Yoda could see that Vader destroyed the Emperor, but really didn't destroy him since the Emperor would be cloned and have his essence enter........I'm tired.
Happy that your channel came up for me!
Glad you showed us this, will make me look for more stuff... Thanks
Don’t worry I’ll have more to come 😎
I can see that Star Wars means a whole lot to a lot of different people. Like you, Yoda is still one of my favorite characters in the series. I believe the 3 films are flawless. Sometimes it's better to keep that sense of mystery & wonder rather than explaining everything. (So what do you guys think of the Book of Boba Fett?)
I'm a Star Wars Fan for over 40 years but you still manage to show me stuff I have never seen!
Great video! The Kebobi series has teased us for so long. I’m dying for it to start!
There are so many questions out there that fans want to see answered. Personally what John Favreau is doing is really good, and I hope he really expands the gaps that are in the universe. Keep doing what your doing, it’s very interesting to watch!!
Yoda failed the Jedi Order. His arrogance blinded him.

Great breakdown I wish we could have gotten more dialog between Luke and Yoda after Yoda's death ether in ROJ or any of the sequels besides the 1 interaction in the sequel trilogy
Yeah I wish we had also gotten more from Yoda in the sequels
Yeah ive spent over 40 years or so wondering how long luke was on daggobah training it always seemed like it was a week tops i dont know, as long as the falcon was being chased by the empire
@@sheevpalpatine2128 It was definitely quite a few weeks. Remember the Falcon’s Hyperdrive was broken so they were traveling sub-lightspeed. It had to have taken a decent amount of time to arrive on Bespin at that speed…
