that's a huge upgrade from Valve
Thank you so much.was been waiting for this comparison. you got a subscription
I wonder how much you can stretch the battery with a capped frame rate and an undervolt. Would definitely be interested in the results. Great video!
It’s perception! I rarely play more than an hour at a time so battery will never ever be an issue for me. For the steamdeck glossy oled is perfection!!!
Awesome, using the same nits on both screens made the test much fairer!
Can you do the same test between SD OLED vs NS OLED?
Same nits, same fps, same game (Not The Witcher or Hogwarts which have completely different graphics on Switch)
i wish, i dont have an OLED switch :(
This is really impressive. I could only imagine what the specs that the Steam Deck 2 would have.
If Valve can increase the battery capacity to 65Whr, plus Zen6/RDNA5 SoC, and 32 GB of RAM then you got a next-gen powerhouse.
You are being unrealistic . The lightest 65 watt hour handheld is a full 200gr heavier than the deck .
Keep expectations in check and you won’t be disappointed 😊
@@Drivenby65wh is definitely doable
Who needs 32 ram
@@Drivenby I'm mostly referring to Solid State Batteries in general, if they can be mass-produced for mobile devices by the next 2 years.
@@zyad553 For that, games like Cities: Skylines with tons of mods and assets.
Also, 32 GB means I can set the UMA Frame Buffer on the BIOS to 8 GB, which means the GPU will always have 8 GB available, which leaves the CPU with at most 24 GB of RAM.
Overall, it's all about having a lot of headroom.
can you please do a low end game test at 3 watt tdp. My lcd steam deck could run some pre 2010 games at that wattage. How much can we squeze - my recommended game is spiderman web of shadows w proton. Thank you
Have these results been verified elsewhere and on different games? If so its a massive leap forward...
How about 500 nicks on steam oled? I wanna know how long it last
Are the games setup on daytime scenes (in game on both consoles)? Looks like the OLED is playing in day and the LCD is playing at night. Or is the OLED that much better in color accuracy?
i set the game time to the same on both, but elden ring has dynamic random weather so its hard it the exact same, but both were running for multiple day night cycles, so i think it'll balance out
@@sam.alexander.reviews Thank you
Do another vid at 5w and 10w.
I’d also like to see how far you can stretch the battery with Forza Horizon 5 at lowest graphics 30fps cap
Out of curiosity, how old is the steam deck lcd on this video? And how used up is it?
I mean a 2 year old steam deck that's being used by a real gamer literally everyday would make a huge difference vs just a steam deck bought for review and stored in a shelf 2 years later to use for comparison.
If you watched the whole video, he claims the Steam Deck in 1 year old and ge did the same test and he got 1 hour and 12 minutes instead of 1 hour and 11 minutes
Very nice 🙌
Do a cloud streaming battery life test
U set 100% for lcd and 80% for oled? That's not even fair
Thats great difference but still I want steam deck two still see great difference but still not enough for me to upgrade I mostly use mine at home
Valve didn't make it 3x because they cant count up to 3😂
did any of the decks had cryo utilities 2.0 installed?
for this testing i had it installed and same settings on both
Capping the frame rate is the way to go. Smoother, and better battery life. I think you could have gotten over 3h with a capped frame rate of 30 fps
Idk 30 feels smooth but the latency takes a big hit and its harder to fight. For battery life I recommend setting tdp to 10 and cap to 30
@@shto4782turn on allow tearing. It helps for 30fps games
@@shto4782elden ring barely reaches locked 60 or even 40fps on the deck anyway. Might as well lock it to save power and prevent stutters from the frame rate fluctuating often. I also got used to the slight input delay of 30fps, it isn't that bad and noticeable once you get used to it.
@@arclight7892 i can play at stable 38 fps and the input lag is much better
@@arclight7892 even games that hit 60 i like to play at 36,40 because it saves battery and the imput lag is good
1h is fcking crazy lol
pretty happy i return my 512gb lcd for a oled haha!
Me 2 bought LCD cancelled order and got oled 🎉🎉
But how... 22Wx2h27 = 57Wh, 27*1h11 = 32Wh. But the battery is 50Wh and 40Wh. Black magic 😢
Apparently OLED uses less power so it's far more efficient...
LCD deck here definitely has less energy left
You cant get only 1 hour battery without using 40 watts of power
SOC update as well as bigger batter and more efficient OLED screen
@@Negativvv it's battery reading already counting screen
same thoughts, it is some incorrection in monitoring. Still oled version is what I want exactly because of power efficiency.
But 2 hours of life equal 10 minutes of gaming😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Undervolt it and test again please
roger that

Uhh that series s performance
OUT OF BATTERY… shutting down steam deck LTE FOUR
Way to burn the display with that light on the same spot for hours
Linux vs linux nice
1hour 11mins blimey that's awful. Strange i get 5 hours on fallout 4!
Because you are not blowing the whole tdp all the time. Btw I can get about 11-12hours easily on the OLED with games that run at 3w tdp. Absolutely insanity 😅
Blimey that's pretty cool
LCD deck here definitely has less energy left though
You cant get only 1 hour battery without using 40 watts of power
ITS ALL DEPENDING ON SETTING I RUN AC BLACKFLAG ON LCD FOR 4 HOURS ON HIGH SETTINGS BUT I HAD LOW BRIGHTNESS AND BLUETOOTH AND WIFI OFF AND HAD ABOUT 5W 30 FPS IF YOU ARE NOT NEAR A CHARGER THERE ARE TONS OF WAYS TO GET MORE BATTERY PEOPLE JUST LEAVE THE SCREEN ON HIGH AND EVERYTHING IN SETTINGS TURN ON SO THEY HAVE BAD BATTERY ITS THAT SIMPLE
