  • From Desert to Abundance: Overcoming Monoculture Challenges in a Changing Climate, gives a front-row view of the journey of a table-grape and banana operation in Peru, to regenerative agriculture.
✅ Find out more about Soil Food Web Approach 👉 www.sfw.one/newsletter-youtube
In 2017, an El Niño event left the operation’s soils flooded and yields jeopardized. The devastation led the owners to the Soil Food Web Approach.
Witness this incredible success story and learn how the soil health and farming operations were improved, achieving a reported 200% increase in yields over just two growing seasons. Experience this transition from conventional, chemical farming practices to regenerative agriculture through the use of compost extract, teas; cover crops; animal husbandry, and more.

    ----------
The Soil Food Web School’s mission is to empower individuals and organizations to regenerate the soils in their communities. The Soil Food Web Approach can dramatically accelerate soil regeneration projects by focussing on the soil biome. This can boost the productivity of farms, provide super-nutritious foods, protect and purify waterways, and reduce the effects of Climate Change. No background in farming or biology is required for our Foundation Courses. Classes are online & self-paced, and students are supported by highly-trained Soil Food Web School mentors.
Over the last four decades, Dr. Elaine Ingham has advanced our knowledge of the Soil Food Web. An internationally-recognized leader in soil microbiology, Dr. Ingham has collaborated with other scientists and with farmers around the world to further our understanding of how soil organisms work together and with plants. Dr. Ingham is an author of the USDA's Soil Biology Primer and a founder of the Soil Food Web School.

Thank you for sharing these videos. They have inspired me at an urban garden level (SF Bay Area). I have been transforming the front yard of my corner lot home into a garden space. I live directly below a Regional Park in the East Bay Hills. Not only do we get a large number of walkers but also wildlife. I'm trying to further my knowledge to do a balance of beauty and productivity while also improving the soil on my property. I have been trying to pass on what I learn to anyone that stops to ask (almost daily). By both showing my work openly in our front yard and educating others with all that I learn, I have already encouraged others to start gardening and move away from chemical fertilizers, participants, and herbicides.
I cannot begin to explain how much it's given back to me and I thank you for what you do share in your videos. I realize it's not a complete knowledge but it's enough to change the conversations around soil, urban/market/large gardens, farms, and beyond! I wish I could afford your full course but I have been sharing your channel within online comment sections as well as in person.

Brilliant documentary! Fantastic detail and a rich explanation of the multi-step process of converting a conventional farm with depleted soils to an organic, regenerative farm in only a few years. Impressive and so educational!

Hopefully be part of the team soon, finish my HND this year and then start the soil food web course. Over the last 3years keeping up to date with webinars has giving me so much knowledge that I need more, this is how we save our people, planet, and economy since it matters so much to politicians. The community spirit that is built around rebuilding has always been a driving force, the fact we are now putting our time into producing food with nature brings great hope in the monoculture world 🙏

A wonderful video. I love seeing people thrive while building soil. I have a little 9 acre property. We raise chickens, ducks, geese and an occasional pig or 2. We have never used chemicals for that reason. To see it done on a large farm is awesome.

My soil is all sand. Water table is high fortunately but the ground is bone dry. I’m attempting a succession method with animal rotation and Biochar amendments to improve 10 acres. Right now I’m watering a small section every day and just doing that has amazing results.
I’m going to put down a ton of rye and other drought tolerant plants.
I’ve planted a bunch of comfrey seeds that I hope I get at least one plant from. Comfrey would change everything

Good work on your land. Comfrey works best if you can find roots to purchase or dig up from a friend! Once they are established... they can take over, but also make great biomass/inputs for compost or mulch.

One question: where do they get their water from? Aquifer? If yes, what do they do to replenish the groundwater resources? Do they have rain water harvesting structures in place? Otherwise it will only be a temporary solution whatever they do with the soil...
