Great reaction! FYI, Kevin is a Master cellist and played at Carnegie Hall as a winner of the American Fine Arts Festival with a piano trio. He also performed there soloing on alto sax for a PBS special. And invented 'cello-boxing' which brought him to Scott's attention when they needed a beat boxer to compete for the first time in the Sing Off. Read Kevin Olusola's Wikipedia page if you need to feel inadequate as a human being!

I've watched this like 100 times, it never gets old! But I I had been wishing Kirsty would've gotten a bigger solo, but I just realized that her role here was to serve as the glue between the cello and the rest of the vocals. I now hear her through out the song weaving in and out. We hear Scott typically doing that in other songs, here she is brilliant! It shows how dynamic this group is!

Kevin is a classically trained Cellist. At some point in his younger days he actually auditioned for Yo Yo Mah. That is how Pentatonix found him by his You Video when he was Cello Boxing.

Lovely reaction Lee, as always. I thought you'd seen them with Kevin on the Cello before. He's played since he was 8, is a Master Cellist and actually has the musical term "Cello Boxing" named after him, as he's one of the rare humans on the planet who can Beatbox and play Cello at the same freaking time. Still not conceding these guys are human, but we'll go with it. You should check out some of Kevin's solo work, he's pretty amazing. This was sick, they absolutely killed this song, I try to hear the original and now I can't, it's been replaced like so many others that PTX get their vocal cords on. ❤️

They never cease to amaze me and that’s one of the most amazing things about PTX. My expectations are incredibly high and yet they manage to exceed them to the point of wondering what just happened while your brain is melting lol This performance was sexy, in the most respectful way, and they are straight FLEXING! ❤

Great reaction! FYI: Pentatonix found Kevin back in 2011 on You Tube playing the cello and beatboxing at the same time! Kevin made the video with a friend while attending Yale University Pre-Med program!! It’s a great story. Too long to mention here. This was outstanding in my opinion. Happy you enjoyed it!
I've noticed that they tend to bring Kevin's Cello ("Beyonce") in when it seems as if they can't cover all the parts by themselves. So he fills in a part in the background, or jumps in when there are too many important factors to be covered, and he can help. And, technically, acapella means NO instruments of any kind, for any reason - they rarely use it, so it's "allowed" by most of their fans and peers.

This song has to be the best I've ever heard them sing. Pure fire 🔥!! They did an awesome performance! It was live as well! No words can describe how good it was. The album this song came from has been nominated for a Grammy...YAY!! They deserve it.

You did a reaction to one of Kevin's solo videos("Down") where he played electric cello, but it was a couple of years ago. You should check out more of his stuff. I recommend his cover of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me". Kevin's channel is "KO - Kevin Olusola". And if you like Scott's voice, you should check out his first solo EP. Pentatonix has done Bohemian Rhapsody but he didn’t have a mustache then. The big one is a bass.
Pentatonix has told their fans before that occasionally they will use an instrument because it supports a certain effect and delivery of the song. They have also said that when they do that, it will be noted publicly in the liner notes via whatever medium that the song is released through. It's rare. Extremely rare. But yes, occasionally they will use an instrument.

They're currently up for another Grammy. It's for last year's Christmas album, Holidays Around the World. They so deserve it & it would be Matt's first one!!!! Also, they are in the new Eddie Murphy Christmas movie, Candy Cane Lane!!!
About 5 percent of the time they will include an instrument. Kevin (who can also play saxophone and piano) and his cello is usually the person though Scott has played piano in at least one song.

This was just so outstanding !! I've even re-watched a few reaction videos of this song just to watch the shock and awe on the faces of some reactors. I'm hoping this either wins a Grammy on it's own or makes another Grammy win for the whole album.

Fully agree with your comment about needing to listen to their videos multiple times in order to catch (mostly) everything. I need at least 3 times. Once for the overall impression, at least once more to focus on the arrangement and background vocals, and one for KO's vocal percussion performance (beatboxing IMO understates what he does).

Great reaction, Lee. I have to admit that I always loved Seal's song. But, I've never seen any Batman movie from beginning to end. For me, Batman was the 60's TV series that I watched on weekends as a youngster.
Fun fact, their Mary Did You Know was filmed in the cave they used in the 60s Batman series!
