    “Sardine” means “small fish” (named after Sardinia, the second largest island in the Mediterranean, because they used to be plentiful in this region). When young/small, these fish are called sardines. When older/bigger, they’re called herring. They’re also packaged as “kipper snacks.” For centuries, herring have been a dietary staple of northern Europeans - Scandinavians, Russians, Dutch, British and Germans. Sardines/herring are an excellent source of Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin B12.

Look on the Marco Polo FB group page and you'll see that Middle Sister Sarah has just done a post to give more information about sardines...and a link to a recipe that you may want to mix up to help you get in more sardines / herring... One of the things that Sarah added was this:

      @nancykowalczyk2070, thanks for letting me know that you appreciate my video. I've known about DrBoz since back in 2018 when I discovered her book and CZcams channel as part of searching for information on blood glucose information. I'm glad that I've learned some things from her, but I just can't go along with her "keto, keto, keto" stance as the only way to be successful in managing one's weight and wellness.
      If I had to point a loved one or a dear friend to just ONE weight and wellness management resource, it would have to be Marty Kendall of OptimisingNutrtion.com - he's got great teaching, he is a "diet agnostic", and he's not emptying people's pocket books. He provides more free teaching than anything that he charges for, and what he does charge for is well worth the cost. Well worth it!!! I'm grateful that I found Marty's How to Use a Glucose Meter blog post back in 2018 - it has made a world of difference to me in the level of hope that I have for aging well.
      @optimisingnutrition, I have no idea if you'll ever see this, Marty, but I mean every.single.jot.and.tittle!!!

      Thanks, Laura. I hope my video helps someone. I’m glad that I did the fish fast with you those three days, but it did get me thinking, so then I did another fish fast but with the greens idea tacked on. And now…I don’t care if I don’t see another can of tinned fish for a looooooooong time.

      @nancykowalczyk2070, It seems to depend which device you are using to watch CZcams on how you'd be able to see / access the show notes. When I am watching CZcams on my iPhone or my iPad, I see that near the video title area I can click the three little dots and more ("...more") so that that will open up the Description Box, which is where I put all the info that I mention during my videos. When I am watching on my desktop computer screen, I can see a light grew area under the video I'm watching and there are the words "Show more" words that will expand / open up the Description Box area.
      I hope this helps you find what you are looking for.

      @judithcervizzi585, there’s no need to say sorry; I agree with you…a meal of sardines is NOT appetizing to me either. I did the 3-Day Sardines & Greens Fasting because I wanted to improve upon DrBoz’s idea of 3 Days of Sardines. I felt the adding in the greens would provide more nutrients to the body without risking the metabolic benefits of focusing on the proteins and fats from the sardines. It was just an experiment…but not an enjoyment. I was so glad when that third day was finished!
