Hi Craig! Yep tons going on here. The crazy thing is that since the weather is cooling off that will take away bench time for me. More people coming to visit plus the weather is good so more time spent outside and traveling equals less bench time. Here in Arizona. We are kind of the opposite for the rest of the country. 😉

Hi Bruce, glad you like the video with friend. Hopefully Chris keeps on going with adding more information about model kits as as he grows his channel. I'm really looking forward to reading more about some of the history of kids. I just find it fascinating. There has to be a Nexus in the universe where all model parts go to after they've been lost. Kind of like how one sock always disappears when doing the laundry, 😀

Hi Spencer, thank you. It was from the instructions themselves. I'm now sort of thinking of trying this technique over different colors to see what it does for wheels for instance, doing it over copper to give it more of a bronze look like the new Subaru wheels have! 😁

Awesome update on your builds. I always thought the Studebaker Avanti would make a cool Riddler car. I currently have 3 hobby rooms in the house. One for a "n" scale train layout. One for RC planes, and one for model building. I have coffee cups I haven't seen in a year.🙂

Howdy! I am so excited about the California build. Now that I have some question marks for wheel covers and a stencil for painting the question marks on the car. All I need to do now is just build it LOL. Still looking for that engine. Haven't found it yet! 🙂

Yeah buddy! So much going on how these group builds are just kind of piling up but I'm doing my best with them 🙂
I did have similar issues with Californian. Solved with glueing the frame with epoxy to the body. Still had to lower it. You can easily check the ride height now with the axles and push the frame up. I also had to make driveshafts, because metal axle was cut.
Thank you for the tip! I was wondering if my idea would fix it completely or not. Yes, I'm also planning on making my own axle shafts because they will have to be at certain angles in order to match up with the lowered front suspension. Thank you very much for watching!

Howdy, yep we have plenty going on here! Funny thing is, here in Arizona, since the weather is getting better, we tend to get more folks coming to visit, and spend more time outside doing stuff. Stuff. So that takes away the bench time. I am hoping to get a lot of these done before it gets too busy around here and I lose all my bench time!

It sure is, I even had to clear off an entire shelf on the rack in the stash so I had a place to set the boxes when I'm not working on them. I suppose that probably caused me to feel a little more relaxed about finishing stuff since it wasn't causing an issue lettering up the desk. Oh well! 😁
That blown Flathead is absolutely awesome. And that GTR. Have to love a Tamiya. I also like the titanium gold calipers. Good look. Hopefully the engine turns up somewhere!! Nice updates.
Hi again Kyle! Oh yes, the blown flathead is probably one of my favorite engines from Iceman! Hopefully the engine turns up for the other build. However, I don't mind getting another one 😉. I'm really digging this GTR kit and I'm thinking I might need to get one for myself. My only downfall on this one is all the detail painting in the engine bay. All the masking I'm going to have to do. I'm not looking forward to.
@@BGsModelWorkshop yes it is me again, I am actually just getting into this modeling community on CZcams. Lol. Yeah, I’m going to have to get one of those from Iceman. And the GTR engine bay is unique. I’m actually working on Tamiya’s Audi Quattro rally from 1983 and it has a similarly molded engine piece. Lots of detail painting to go for me there too. But still a cool kit.
Oh awesome! I think that Quarto kit is pretty sweet! I don't have one of those, I have a different brand of kit.

Great video BG. Lots going on. Question what do you mean when you say you white glue your mock up. What glue do you use . thanks mike.
Hi Mike! Thank you very much. When I say white glue, I'm actually referring to a glue that's called canopy 560. It is available on amazon and most hobby shops have it too. I'm not sure if Hobby lobby carries it. I haven't seen it at mine, but that could be a little bit different than yours. The glue is basically the same thing as Elmer's school glue. However, it has a thicker consistency and dries much, much faster! You can still use white glue( Elmer's glue) to do your mock-ups however it will take longer and cause more of a mess because of how thin that is. The reason why I like doing this, is because I get a feel for how well everything is going to fit together. Ride height, stances and stuff like that. Also interior fitment to the body and chassis. A lot of things can get answered before final assembly. I find the extra amount of work put in at the beginning, really helps at the end of the bill where things can get really stressful. I hope that helps and answers your question. BG

Seeing how you built the Toronado from Johann before, do you see any similarities with the Californian kit? The engine looks pretty detailed. I think every work bench has a Black Hole. I've lost my Tamiya anti static brush in it. LOL. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Alan, so, funny story, I haven't finished the JoHann kit yet. However! I've got the body painted and I just need to start building the engine in chassis. I do see a lot of similarities between the two kits. However, they are very different as well. The Johan kit doesn't have that strange engine bay "box" the the MPC kit has. Which I feel is causing some issues in fitment and why the front ends it so high. The engine and transaxle do seem extremely similar. The interiors are different. Also, I'm not sure if this is a different interior just for the California kit, or if there was another version of this kit that had a different styled interior. It would be a good way to do a contrast and compare video right?
I was wondering if Johann maybe sold parts of the mold for the kit to MPC at the time. Possibly Johann maybe lost the body mold and MPC just made this Californian body out of something.
A very good guess! I feel there may be some sort of cross pollination going on there with the Jo-Hann and MPC kits!!
What white glue do you use?
Hi James, I like to use a product called canopy glue 560. It can be found on Amazon and most hobby shops. It's actually a white glue that seems to be a bit thicker and consistency and dries quicker than normal white glue and doesn't run all over the place as easily too. You can use regular old school glue if you want to, you'll just have to watch out for being super runny and long drying times!
