I've watched a lot of truck camper conversions, and this one is the cleanest and simplest one I've seen. My 05 Tahoe's about to get a makeover.
I'm making a roof rack out of landscaping steel 6 inch tall plates that are 10 foot long. I Bought the powder coated steel that has a bunch of holes and slots already cut into it so i don't have to weld and just use galvanized nuts and bolts and brackets that any good building supply like Home Depot or Lowes has. You can improvise all of the things you need from building supply stores and can save hundreds of dollars by not buying the ready made kits or items sold online.
I'm just beginning my own build of a 2010, I wish there were more videos on the side cubbies/removing of the wheel well trim... everyone shows the end product but not the process! You guys do such great work, would love to see more in depth how you do that part
I am in the same boat! I think I could do most of it right now except the cubbies
Great build
I'd like to see how you mounted te build for stability and rigidity
I need one of those roof racks. Here in Colo Sprgs
Shoot us a message at www.everventurecustom.com and we can get things started!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Did you take the seats out? My2017 burban doesn't have all that room with seats stored.
Does this build out affect the rear side curtain airbag deployment? I have a 2011 that I am in the process of converting and don't want issues if I do the wood panels over the back side windows.
Yes the airbags are not going to work with the cabinets there.
If you get in a wreck that is big enough to deploy the airbags the car will be totaled anyway.
Need a link to where you got that roof rack
The roof each was custom made. Shoot us a message at www.everventurecustom.com if you’re interested!
Do you remove all of the plastic sides before you install the wood sides?
Yeah I cut and remove a large portion. I try to leave some of the contoured pieces for trim work.
That was somewhat of a video for that roof rack.
