Alicent's entrance in episode 5 gave a major Cersei vibe so I saw fit to arrange these two songs together. They also sound quite similiar in my opinion.

i love the whole idea of alicent's theme being the rise of the seven and 'light of the seven' being the demise of it. it's so poetic i just AHHH

I don't think they're similar at all. They're just both fierce mothers and that's just the similarities. Cersei tried to discipline Joffrey and she gets threatened while Alicent slapped him when Dyana was assaulted. Alicent was driven by her fear while Cersei was driven by her power.
@@scorpioj3 if anything Rhaenyra is most similar to Cersei. Alicent doesn't compare to her by much in all honesty.
This song MAKES SENSE since the Hightowers are extremely religious and this is why Alicent is so "disgusted" at Rhaenyra being "sullied" as she called it. Viserys could've perfectly hide the rumour and Rhae would've get married anyway, but for Alicent and her family what Rhaenyra did is unforgivable.
She is not mad at Rhae for not trusting her (Why would she trust the daughter of the man who scattered the rumours?) But because the princess can do whatever she wants with no consequences while she is tied up in a loveless marriage

Somewhat. The problem is that Alicent sees that Rhaenyra is being reckless with her actions in a nation like Westeros, who have no respect for women in charge. The Westerosi politics are disgusting and Rhaenyra’s actions could mean dire consequences for the entire family. I think Alicent is afraid for her family AND Rhaenyra’s well-being as well. They were friends after all. Rhaenyra doesn’t see that the consequences of her actions could lead to the downfall of her house.
Disgust? She is spreading her legs naked for handicap people in dark of night. The same trick she used to seduce king viserys. Her mark of seven is a farce.
Clearly light of the seven was a gem of a piece of music to go unnoticed, and here we are bringing it back in an entire new series.

Alicent is one of the beautifully written character. Bound by the chains of her time yet steadfast in her resolve to do the best what she can.
One can feel the hard choices she had to make in tough situations while her friend went around enjoying life. She truly is majestic queen 👑
Alicent by herself can convince me to be team Green ngl. At least she's a good Queen, a better person than most characters, and more mature than Rhaenyra and Daemon. Too bad her family are vipers.
Other than Otto they're mainly decent. Ormund Hightower, big character later on, is a good guy.
Really now her decent into madness and chaos is forth coming the seeds have been planted and her children will be the rotten fruits of her labor.

@@yevonsama I can agree to some extent. My comment dates from before the time jump, by ep 6 she clearly had grown bitter. I think she's nevertheless become my favourite character, not because she is necessarily good, but rather because she's got so much depth. Rhaenyra is also a very interesting character but both are extremely flawed. Rhaenys in ep9 understood completely what Alicent is like: a naive woman, stuck in a patriarchy that she fights to uphold, thinking that she is doing things right. Daenerys is quite different but I get what you mean. I think both Rhaenyra and Alicent have traits from Dany

This is the most epic and powerful soundtrack I've ever heard and I am listening to soundtracks almost everyday since like 20 years. Of course the music is one but on the other hand Cersei and Alicent... I am mother of four, I am having many issues from the past, I know exactly what is like to be seen as "someone important" but inside being extremaly alone and hurt. I know the feeling of being able to burn everything to the ground just to protect children. Amazing. Both of them, but in my opinion mostly Alicent, are such amazing, complex and non white - non black characters. Cersei in addition was cruel, and that is why I cannot love her so much as Alicent.
