I picked up the very bottle we are talking about as a back up to the one I currently have, I went because a friend let me know they had Knob Creek Rye Single Barrel Store picks which I also grabbed. 😁

    I know you guys were not going with sourced products, but Redemption Rye is just my favorite budget rye. It just hits my flavor profile perfectly and it won't break the bank. I've tried a lot of different bottles, and it's the one I constantly think about wanting to go back to.

    I would add Knob Creek Rye 100 proof to the list, especially now with the new 7 year age stated version. If you can find the single barrel for under $50 still, even better.
    I also frequently find the various Rossville Union single barrel ryes on sale at Binnys (Chicagoland area) for $49.99. They release several different mashbills (95% rye, 51 rye with corn as the secondary, and also a 51/49 rye/malt) which makes it fun. They are also cask strength and up to 7 years old, so a good value at $50. Rossville is part of MGP, so therefore it is not a sourced mgp product.

  • @nc4629a
    @nc4629a Před rokem +3

    Hard to argue with that list! I'd make one addition, which is a bit pricey to call a bargain at $60, but in my opinion competes with LE rye whiskies twice it's price (or more), and that's Sagamore Spirit Double Oak. $10 more than Pikesville around me, but I'd take it over even pricier options like Rare Breed Rye and hard to find bottles like A Midwinter's Night Dram. Cheers!

    Playing by your rules, I’d go with 1) Bulleit Rye - makes a great old fashioned or Manhattan and is a decent sipper neat. 2) Knob Creek Rye - now with a 7 year age statement and makes a very nice sipper and mixer. 3) Rittenhouse BiB - makes the best whisky sours and is nice to sip neat too. 4) Pikesville - just excellent as a neat sipper.
