I thought I was going to see pre 1933 GOLD and Pre 1800 American Silver - Colored Coins - BA BA BA
Title specifically says silver and they aren't all colored lol
My guess is, if you didn't have a CZcams channel, you wouldn't get anywhere NEAR what that guy offered
Amen to that
I shouldn't have said that
Maybe not at a LCS, but I bet you would on eBay.
That dealer is in cahoots with him..most of those silver rounds are just that
whenever I've asked coin dealers about similar coins, they get priced the same as generic bullion.
Colorized coins are a matter of individual taste not for investment. While beautiful they have a limited appeal. The fact that they have a residual silver value is a redeeming factor. Thank you for sharing!
I think it ruins the coin, but to each their own.
It's a damaged coin
Rare does not equal valuable. It’s amazing how many people are duped by the “limited” mintage snake oil, especially when put in a fancy box.
Calm down... I'm not a newb. I enjoy things like this I didn't buy them to make a profit. I was quite clear about that in the video
If you are willing to "do the work" by staying up late at night ... the TV has some amazing deals on silver eagles
Lol i know what you mean and ya some pretty kool some beautiful@@SilverSeeker
@@SilverSeekerI only buy the semi numismatics that I personally enjoy and don’t plan on ever selling them.
@@SilverSeeker It was a great video. I think you misunderstood. There are a number of CZcamsrs getting free blobs of silver with a pretty face painted on them, and telling the audience these blobs of painted silver are special and limited. Not to pick on the mint making ugly blobs of silver, painting them with glow in the dark paint and selling them for a 100+% premium, most of which goes back to the mint. I thought it was very poignant when the guy graciously said he recognized the value but knew it would sit in the shop for a while so wouldn’t pay top dollar.
I have similar high premium bullion pieces and am under no illusion they are worth any more than spot.
I like the video, but I was expecting Morgan dollars and the like…
I have lots of mermaid semi numismatic coins too
I was waiting for the Morgan’s too.
Silver Dragons probably shelled out that $1,000😊
I stay away from anything that was colorized or altered after leaving the mint.
it's fine if you buy it because you genuinely like it, but just assume the money you pay above it's bullion value will never be returned in a future sale.
I had to start getting rid of my collectable coins since my son and wife how no desire or interest in coin collecting. I'd rather sell them now so I get decent money for them than letting them get screwed.
I agree completely. Sell them now a bit at a time. Or, leave very explicit notes with values and LCS address and phone numbers that you trust. I have a good friend who recently retired. He has a ton of free time now and drives to garage sales all over Southern California every week: San Diego, Riverside and Los Angeles Counties mostly. Once or twice a month he finds very valuable collections being sold at 10% or less of the fair market value. He is ethical and tries to tell the family that they have priced the coins way too low. Sometimes the family is appreciative and pulls the collection for future sale. Sometimes he tells me the family member says, "you want it or not?". He will show current prices on his phone and they don't care. Just this year, he picked up a box with bank rolled pre 64 half dollars. Many were from the late 40s and early 50s. Some, were much older. There were 22 rolls of $10 rolls. The family wanted $250 for all the coins. He told them it was worth thousands. Their response was it's got to go. He ended up buying the box for $250 and went through all the coins and selling them over the last few monthsfor over $10k at LCS.
I’d love to see another of these. I buy non stacking collectibles from time to time so you’ve peeked my interest.
Wow that was fun looking at your special pieces! I really enjoyed that! I'm not into buying really expensive stuff but I sure like to look at it! I would love it if you did it again with some of your other things! This was an excellent episode!🎉
I have one colored silver eagle I picked up in coin collection I bought, generally I don't buy colorized rounds or coins, but to each his own,if it makes you happy then buy what you like, that's what makes for the greatest hobby in the world.
The 1oz reaper is the only 1 I would pay over spot for, I am very picky with what goes in the collection......
Well, with the US Mint raising all the prices on Silver. They want over $90.00 now for the Peace dollar, which isn't even a oz.
Need to talk with him about all the new prices the US Mint just put out. $97.00 for a Proof Eagle? Come on they are killing me.
Would love to see the rest of your collection! :)
Not my bag . Im too old school. Most of my collection are old slabs , mostly rattlers . Half and half common stuff , and really nice stuff . At the moment working a Peace Dollar year set . Just finished a Morgan set . All in rattlers , except 93.94.95 . Nice video ...😢
Where do you buy them from?
Great Video Seeker !! TY
Always fun seeing another collectors collection, thanks for showing it off. Was thinking you were going to pull out an EverQuest coin for a moment there instead of galaga. Now I need to find an EverQuest coin haha.
I played so much EQ in the day lol. Need to find one myself :)
Hides my Libertads……
❤ That was fun to watch and really good comparison to Ice🍦Cream vs 🤑stacking...
Enjoyed this guys. Love the true business carry perspective from Josh. Thanks. JOSH START SELLING TO VERMONT!!!
Sure i'll sub. Love the videos !
Hey you like what you like. I’m a coin collector that also stacks silver and gold. A lot of the items I have are more valuable to me than the market value. That’s what makes it fun!
Hey Seeker, thanks for the vlog! Great info from Josh. Thanks for sharing those very cool pieces. Probably need a collectors anonymous for us collectors.
Thank you for telling us what you paid for them and what they are worth, I just wish that more coin shows on CZcams would do this.awesome collection 😃😃👍👍👍
Very cool. Please do this again.
We go from legal tender in the initial examples to medallions or fantasy pieces. All are only worth the base metal spot price unless there is an emotional element driving the purchasing decision, and I guess that is the difference between a stacker and a collector.
@josephchristianson3001 Wrong. The items Silver Seeker featured in this video would all sell for far more than their melt value if he put them on eBay. It would be very foolish to sell them for silver spot price.
excellent collection! i love the looks of those colored ones a lot
You have some really nice collectables there.
So this is what you can learn from this video. Never go to a coin shop to sell your semi-numismatic you are not going to hace the return of investment you want. so better to sell in ebay or facebook groups or video lives.
nice pieces finding the ones that have a meaning or catch your eye is part of Stacking
you are being kind to our type have a sickness is accurate😂
I know of a bar in my hometown where silver eagles are polyester into the top of the bar custom made. The bar owner has over 1,700 eagles all dates mints conditions it's really cool.
When shtf an ounce of silver is an ounce of silver collections are for those that have money to collect
I'm strictly a stacker, however I do have one coin that I consider somewhat collectable. I purchased an ASE End of WWII V75 from the mint in original box and papers. Advised the wife even though it is only one oz of silver be very careful in selling if I check out and she decides to cash out. I could see someone saying "let me check current silver spot price before I can make you a fair offer".
I've always wondered, who out there actually wants the presentation boxes from the mints? We always keep them because with the full packaging it is easier to resell. But outside of that, is there actually anybody anywhere who wants the boxes for the sake of owning the boxes???
I really like this video on semi numismatic silver collecting. I also have pieces that are high relief beautiful two-ounce low mintage that I bought mostly when I first started stacking(collecting) silver. I now focus mostly on close to spot bullion, but now and then something comes along that I can relate to from some experience in my life that I can't resist. I think you should show more of semi numies.
I love Peace Dollars for some reason.
They deserve the same love other 90% “junk silver” gets.
Afterall in a real barter scenario you’re likely not going to be bartering tiny dimes and quarters.
More likely going to be larger amounts if you’re buying gas or whatever.
Interesting video! I suggest it would also be cool to do a video like like focused on examples of some older numismatic us coins...
Good Idea... Noted!
That colorized dragon is awesome. What a collection tho man. Yes I'd fricken love to see more
Amazing collectable pieces. I have a few collectable pieces myself. When it comes to checking E-bay for sold comps, not for me. I don't deal with E-bay. When it comes to purchasing something for myself, I use Red Book for raw coins. When it comes to slabbed, it has to be PCGS or NGC. I scan them or check their websites for mintage and prices if they have a price. Thanks for sharing video.
Great realistic content! God Bless!
My lcs would pay the same as generic bullion for most of these. He sees silver as silver. Makes for some good deals now and then.
Exactly . Gotta take this stuff to eBay and put in some work and give up some %
Nice pieces, SS. I also have quite a few semi numismatic and hand poured pieces. I consider them art that happens to be made out of silver. Buy what you like and enjoy it.
Nice video. Nice stuff. i appreciate you showing your collection .Personally, i never got into colored stuff. It reminds me of Pogs .but i do like collectibles, though
Does anyone really collect colorized? This, for me, holds no appeal. I collect more for the silver and rarity value. Some of the may be rare but do nothing for me.
IMO/IME? No, but - personal preference. I don't deal in colorized either bc I don't like 'em, but all the more why I'd have no idea what they're worth/able to be re-sold for.
Always enjoy Josh. Good vodeo.
Morning Seeker. I like your channel alot. Thank you. Joe
When you said rare coins I was thinking old and rare. You don't even have electrum coins?
I just don’t understand why silver pours and silver bullion are mainly skeletons, pirates, apocalypse, death, destruction, dark matter… maybe you can do a post on why this is. It’s like cilantro, either you like it or not. Lol.
But as far as the other pieces, I took snapshot of them. Guess who’s gonna look to add to his stack? Thanks, the eye candy is always great.
StackOn
I remember thinking that too. What I realized tho was that there's a ton of other stuff out there, just I had started buying the skull and pirate stuff, then that's like 90% of what the algorithms would show me. I notice now that if I search for dinosaurs I'll get a whole bunch of prehistoric themed stuff that I had never seen before, same if I look for religious themed rounds, it kinda depends on what you look at and purchase is what gets shown to you I think. I got stuck in a superhero loop one time. I never even bought any, just like what is all this stuff? If you get stuck in the skull/skeleton loop you would think silver was evil! Search for Jesus rounds! Lol!
Trends change. That’s why as a stacker with no following to sell to other than a coin shop. I strictly stack eagles , maples and 10oz bars and nothing more . For gold , eagles, buffalos, maples nothing more
I collect coins the same . One off's or sets. Very nice . Great video..
This is why you can't sell this stuff to these dealers they don't want to pay anything you definitely have to sell on eBay
Str8 BALLER! I don't have a collector's lot.....but I probably do.
Very cool collection
Super kool pieces I too buy a few for collecting.
Not what I am really excited about, however I liked video. What I do like about these types of collectibles is I'm starting to buy them as gifts for grand kids. They love Panda's and adding color makes them more exciting to a younger child. 👍
I like the colorized Maple Leaf.
I don't get what face is on the front behind the maple leaf. Some dude wearing glasses? Who the hell is that?
@@ShadyD365 it does look like Satan. I didn't see that the first time. I liked the gold leaf though.
@@user-nl9ny3zz6t Yeah I can't tell what it is, not sure if it looks like satan. Yes the coin looks nice. I stack a lot of Canadian gold and silver maples.
Me too! That color ice can we believe was gorgeous!
Justin Trudeau?
Love Galaga! Local bar in my hometown has a Galaga machine now. Makes me feel like 12 again. 😎
I think you'd get a better idea of this appraiser's skill if you didn't tip him off with eBay auction sale prices. Maybe ask him first what he'd pay, then drop the eBay sales figures.
That was fun! 😅
I appreciate the workmanship and Rarity of some of the coins and pieces that you showed but for me personally I'm still in the phase of stacking as much silver and gold as I can for the least amount of money great video though thanks for the content
Give me those coins, let me walk into his shop, then you'll find out the real prices.
Josh is as honest as any shop owner I've ever seen... I feel completely confident he'd pay what he said here.
Surprised to see you prefer colorized! Idk why, just am. I guess that's one cool thing about stacking - plenty of styles to match everybody's preference! Very cool Reaper piece (the 1st one).
Love that relief on it.
I don't prefer all colorized, they have to be nice pieces. The ones that are just adding color to liberty or the eagle of a silver Eagle are bleh. These though I like because of what the colorization is I guess.
Never been into colorized coins. The only colorized coin in my collection is the colored purple heart from the U.S. mint.
Nice Dragon, the BUs are selling for around $500-800 for the 10 ouncers. I hope the Tudors will gain in value. I hope RM will release the Panther and Dragon in the 10oz BU.
If you expect to make an investment with a return. Buy key dates only
Great content, silver seeker❤ fun video
I have a couple of the limited edition Martin Short Presents Canada $3 silver coins that are beautiful! Not sure they will ever take off but I think eventually they will.
Ive bought with my heart a few times. Not very often but I have paid way over spot for certain vintage pieces that I just had to have. Like it the piece was calling out to me lol.
I have two colorized american silver eagles... One is a gold plated. American silver eagle with a red, white and blue dress and the other one is a nine eleven memorial silver eagle with the twin towers painted on it
My friend that collects silver says my morgans are worth one dollar....
About halfway through, I hope you show the black lotus colorized coin. I think they are two once.
Josh makes alot of sense. If me, I wouldnt pay what he is offering
The problem with something being rare is that it it must be adjusted for the market. If it is a US coin, one where there are only a few thousands can be worth many thousands, but if you buy a limited edition modern proof from say Niue it is hard to pay more than 30% over the silver bullion prices or 10% over gold bullion prices. After all you can basically right now get 19th century double eagles that grade XF-AU certified for around 10% over gold spot....
The colorized coins I don't care for, I think I might have 1 out of my 1,600+ ozs. and I bought it because it was lower than melt. The boxes do take up a lot of real estate
I think colorizing a coin
Destroys them. As a collector I
Won’t buy them !
At a certain point, these specialty/colorized coins get their added value as ‘art’. I own a few of these, as a cool novelty.
In a SHTF barter scenario, would you give a person $100 worth of goods for 1 colorized oz .999 silver coin, or 3 generic rounds?
No, I would not. If I accepted that coin at all, it would be just another silver bullion coin after the acetone bath and light rub to removed the paint.
No it would only be worth it's weight in silver!
Definitely 3 generic rounds
How about the 007 series?
😲 😱 GALAGA!!! AWESOME!!!
Give you 75 for the Maple, Seeker!
My opinion of rare coins is their value is the same as the junk silverware I dig up in the dump. Put it on the scale and see what it weighs.😁 You're going to have to sell those collectible coins at the nursing home or to grandpa. The future generation has zero interest in rare coin collecting as a whole.
Trade them for tricks at the ol folks home G
I buy coins colored by the mint like the Australian swans
I can feel your enthusiasm, but personally, i don't get the "evil" and "zombie" and "killer" coins. I like life more than death and would rather have coins with birds, animals, flowers, and leaves -- and not have them colourized. The Dragon coin was super-nice, though -- my complete favourite of the lot.
I get it, and I have plenty of those also to be fair. Maybe next time I do a vid like this I'll show those. :)
@@SilverSeeker Would you like to sell some of those and if so what would you charge for them?
I have a one ounce gold Queen's Beast White Greyhound. Bought it because I have a greyhound dog, gold was low at the time, I got a good price, and it appreciated quickly.
Love Queens Beast collection
I
Have lots of the 20 oz silver ones the do appreciate very well
10 oz not 20
Not interested in any “semi-numismatic” coins. Semi means they aren’t really numismatic. Sorry. It’s fine if you like this, good for you.
Thanks for the update.
Some shops are willing to meet you in the middle and be fair like Josh. I've also been to shops that each one of those would be whatever they're paying per ounce for the generic stuff and more for the sovereign coins. It really does pay to shop around!
As for myself I'm not a huge fan of colourized coins. I'm probably in the minority, though
i like rare numismatic vintage coins over that common stuff.
He said "They've been cleaned"?
I just bought a Smithsonian panda like that on ebay for $30 with $10 s&h.
Nice!
Good show, nice pieces ! I "nerd out" on some pieces too, and im 72 years old. I have a number of limited mintage pieces from mints like Perth, Scottsdale, and Germania. As im a "year of rhe dragon" birthdate i have particular "wants" for those items wirh dragons. I definitely understand your fetish...its what i like, its my money, and i certainly dont buy it to make money. Keep it up, would like to see more of your "stash"!
Hey Silver Seeker do you like those Egyptian Gods 2 oz rounds?
I love them!
It’s kind of like real estate, don’t buy something that you can’t turn around a sell just as easily. What was/is cool for you, may not be of interest to 90% of the rest of the market, which means your left sitting on it until someone with similar tastes comes along
I didn't buy them to turn around and sell easily my friend
@@SilverSeeker true, but everything gets sold eventually and your back to “who is your audience/buyers”
@@StarATL If the collector value for them disappears at least they're still silver. I had alot of pogs when I was younger, the material in those, well... yea.
Yeah, well even real estate can still go bad. For example, if the property that you bought was in the low 6 figures and the area suddenly fell to historic lows for maybe or maybe just fell to mid to high $80000 or if you are very lucky maybe just fell to the mid $90000 you would probably sell it for the highest possible price that you could get.
The reason why it could fall could be because of Indian or water problems or the land could be poisoned by an underground
Some nice colorized items…I have a few similar pieces on my channel…
Silver use in medical and industrial line, if silver price boom up till usd 50, very big effect to global economy
Not a fan of colourised but the ones you showed looked great.
I am 95% stacker and 5% collector so alot of cool stuff I pass on because that rabbit hole is to easy to go down. I feel that if I was "On the Level" Josh I would think that you wasted my time with this podcast.
He was totally fine with doing this one
NGC Not worth the plastic its packaged in, they over grade everything.
Funny. I hear the same thing about PCGS.
I live in Switzerland and those semi-numismatic coins are very expensive and hard to sell. Personally i don't like this stuff. Rather i have better a nice 3 Mark 1912 Saxony (Sachsen) coin than this fancy stuff.
I'll give you 600 bucks for that red dragon!! 🐲
Unfortunately I'm not just sick, I have a disease. I have an addiction to stacking these high premiums in the multiples. The boxes and cases do take up so much room and they are all just laying out in the open .
