- Growing up in Newham, East London, @AlfaMist began his musical career in grime and hip-hop before being drawn to jazz, world music and movie soundtracks he discovered through sampling. In this film, we follow Alfa Mist’s journey as he collaborates with the @LCOrchestra to re-imagine ‘Confliction’: a track he wrote after a moving conversation with a taxi driver.

This was special.
Reading and writing sheet music is easy. You just have to make the time to practice writing your ideas down. So many people are intimidated by notation (including myself early on), but once you commit to learning it, it’s really not that hard.... that being said: WOW! That was good!
Watching this brought tears to my eyes, as a composer it must be amazing to hear what's in your head realized by a talented section as this. Amazing.

For the last four hundred years or so - man has wrestled with writing music on paper and then re-interpreting what is on the paper back into a physical performance. It's one of the beauties of classical music - and the reason that we now have so many interpretations of the same pieces to choose from. Having the actual composer in the room - able to say what he/she actually intended - or being open to suggestions from performers has to be really refreshing. Fantastic sample libraries are really inspiring for composers but you cannot beat the 'real thing' as anybody who has heard their work played back by an orchestra will testify. What I love here is the realisation of all that enthusiasm. Brilliant

The mix on this video is just great. I watched it on a TV that is attached to a decent audio system so I'm used to good sound. But I rarely had such a three dimensional experience as with this video, especially towards the end. When I closed my eyes then I could see the instruments in front of me and grab them with my hands. Kudos to the sound engineer.

Great! Without a doubt, listening to something you've composed with an orchestra is a huge feeling, and blending it with your style makes everything great. Since at the moment we cannot access a real orchestra, a symphony, at least we have the Spitfire audio instruments!
