Sat in my car drinking coffee looking out over the river Mersey watching a storm come in and listening again to your beautiful music Dave, calms my soul 🧞♂️
I think there is a fine line between guitar players and musicians. Dave you have surpassed this line. I couldn't stop listening till the very last note went silent.
That guitar suits you like a glove man. I can see you give it love while playing. Looks crazy good and the sounds are nice too. Keep on rocking in the free world man
Every phase of that outro is guided by the logic of your melodic playing. In every one of your solos I seldom, if ever, feel that you have strayed into the "look how technically I can play" territory which I feel was the reason why long solos fell into disfavour. In your solos you never forget that you are communicating melodically and emotionally and that's why I look forward to every one. That sudden switch at the half hour mark was a touch of genius... Post orgasmic bliss. 😉
That guitar is rock solid in your hands Dave! The outro jam was spectacular!! The melodic part at the 30:00 minute mark was just beautiful man!! All of it was AWESOME, great playing Dave!! Enjoyed it 🎸🤘You seem happy and your 🎼 reflects it now a lot. Peace Bro 😎
I will pay you the biggest compliment I know how to…. If I just close my eyes I could easily be convinced I was listening in to John Frusciante jamming. Unreal playing my friend!! 🤟
I really like listening to tapping, hammer on,pull offs and trills and such as long as it's not just didlydidlyweweee. Dave places these techniques MELODICALLY in a piece of music as much as any other note. Love ya Dave. Thanks, for what you do.
Bravo Dave on the awesome jam and great work on the guitar Mike .The look of a sunburst Stratocaster that’s Rock music Leo Fender was a genius.Nothing sounds better to my ears then a Stratocaster with stacks of gain
Strats are my favourite. I always feel that you hear the real music from a strat...you hear the individual, the original. Great playing as always my friend, an absolute pleasure to hear. 😎✌🏼💯
That intro piece was absolutely sublime, totally took me to a really nice place. The sounds you pull out is amazing, inspiring. Love it when you go bac to THE CR120
Strataholic here..got 8 in total. 2 Greco's, 3 Tokai's , a mid 80s Squier strat, a seafoam green 60s parts caster and a really cool early 80s van nuys Schecter strat. As well as others types guitars !!
I heard this from the other room come on in my auto play...thinking...thinking...that level of concentration, that off the hook tight meter, and creativity..." I bet it's Dave Simpson". I was right! Dude put that on your album. The relic on that strat is beautiful. Here in Columbus, Ohio on 5th Ave [ Fifth Avenue Fret Shop ] ( btw I've not been in Columbus for 8yrs so not affiliated in any way) they have a relic master who relics 200-300 dollar Mexican Fender Strats, and they hang on the wall with real 50's-60's multi-thousand dollar models. Customers have no idea, carefully handling it, bonding with its rare mojo. lol I swear he put the guitars in a smoker box with cigar smoke for a week...a month. He smoked cigars. The guitars had no odor of tobacco, it was just a guess that he neither confessed to or denied when I asked. Just said, " Ehhh trade secret". lol
The Strat is obviously the guitar suited for you, Dave. Lovely playing - actually the best I've ever heard from you. If you ever come near an El Maya Antique Stratocaster from Japan - get it in your collection. It is better than any of my Americans and the building quality is awesome. I just wish you to have one 🎸👌
It could be Hendrix's Monterey strat apart from it's a different colour and all that. I mean it's as likely to be it as much as that one that was being auctioned lately 😂😂 Merry Christmas Dave, here's hoping I get better at Barre chords next year. Or any chords for that matter 😂👍👍
Wonderful stuff again Dave! I found the 30:09 - 32:58 passage particularly stunning... If Mike was the dishonourable type, he could get a serious amount for that “Strat”..!!! 🤮
Hi Dave, if you’re getting into appegio and I know this is a bit poppy but obviously try Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and John Mcgeoch (magazine, Siouxse and the Banshees, Pil), Spellbound is a great riff.
Amazing video, and an amazing guitar as well. It made me think of a boutique builder that does not have much of a CZcams presence and yet his guitars look absolutely incredible. I wonder if you had any experience with SVL guitars? I would be really interesting to see a Strat connoisseur such as yourself check one of them out. Maybe you could reach out to Simon Law and treat us to a demo of one of his masterpiece instruments... and Thank you so much.
Strats are one of my least favourite guitars .... but that's only when they are in my hands ! In the hands of exceptional players, they are the most amazing instruments, which have a magical and legendary sound all of their own. Perhaps, because I am a clumsy " plodder " of a guitar player, they aren't suited to my heavy handedness ? You make the guitar sing Dave ( but you do with every bloody guitar lol ) I guess it is quite simple really, a great guitarist plays his / her best when they are inspired and I can tell this lovely instrument inspires you to the core. Your enthusiasm deserves to own this guitar Dave ...... sell him the guitar Mike :)
First off your a great guitarist and person. What type of practice should i follow to play a style like yours and any helpful hints? Thanks again ive been watching for awhile and your a great guitarist.
Dave, I've been visiting here for a while and something I've noticed. It's always about this person or that person, or some new or old piece of equipment or amp or something. Never about Dave. You are going to have to do something about that tremendous ego brother!
@frank Carter that was the least of their dodgy dealings. I still have a tokai from from I think it was wizard, it's never been touched and is still set up perfectly

hey dave Ive just recently found your channel and have been loving it I have been looking at your boss katana videos and I love the tones you get out of it and I copied all of the settings you give but I just cant seem to get the same sound you have it always end up just being very dark and muffled, any tips to fix it? Also, what gauge strings do you use

I respect all strat players because I can’t do strats AT ALL! I’m Les Pauls or telecasters all the way… I own two great strats that play really amazing but I’ve just never liked the sound of them
Excuse me for being the pain in the arse here.... I don't like the decal!! Why putting on a "Fender" sticker on it? That's ridiculous, because it's just not a "real" Fender. It's a partcaster and putting such a decal on it, just to make it look "better" is not working for me. On the contrary, it doesn't do any justice to you friend Mike, who's made a really stunning guitar!!! This decal is an insult....
I have a cheap strat that looks beutiful but sounds like sht..Dave would good pickups save the guitar...ithink it's a squire that has a fender logo on it..it looks sharp but sounds un inspiring g and weak its a hss
along with pickups maybe you would get some more richness with good quality nut and check whether the bridge has a big solid block not some cheap thin metal piece
