As a die hard Huskies fan since I was a little kid and Ray allen and donnie Marshall where playing for huskies this is great to see. This team can finally hit the 3 point shoot something they have been lacking for years. It has been a rough stretch for them for the last 4 or 5 years. Im from Rhode Island and that's where Hurley was previously head coach. I was ecstatic when he got the job because he was a great coach at URI and recruiter. His father is also one the most successful high school coaches ever so he comes from a pedigree. Also has a pipeline of recruiting coming from his father's team in Jersey. Next year Uconn has a top 5 recruiting class, another 7 footer coming in, and a whole ton of talent 4 and 5 star recruits. This team is gonna be one of the best teams in the nation for years to come. I am so excited for this season especially since I don't watch or care for NBA. I love NCAA hoops. This year we won't be getting bounced in the 1st round by new mexico state.
They have top 10 talent but I don't think they will ever get ranked above NC, Kansas, Kentucky, etc. And as a Huskie fan I prefer they go into March under the radar!
Give Alabama credit. They gave a spirited effort to comeback when UConn went up by 16 in the first half. UConn was to much to handle. I have been saying it from jump. UConn is a very special team this year. They have toughness, defend well, can shoot the ball, and have multiple threats at each position. Let me first comment on Newton. Now, I can see why Hurley prioritized him in the transfer market. Newton reminds me of Taliek Brown in his PG style. He can flat out play. So incredibly shifty and is starting to get into a groove out there. A remarkable asset for UConn. I love Diarra's game. He's a humble soldier that makes die hard plays on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Joey California is super hot from 3 land and is venturing into a Niels Giffey 3 point barrage reminiscient of 2011. Sanogo and Clingan are absolute beasts. This team is stacked. It's pretty lucrative to have 5 guaranteed future NBA players on one roster! UConn took down a very good Bama squad. The Karaban Caravan is always filling up the stat sheet. The Hawk dropped 18 easy. Would like to see him draw a little bit more contact on lane penetration for some easy 2's get chippies on the line to keep the defense honest. Dre will sky and win you the game with only a few rainy buckets. This team reminds me so much of the 2006 team. They just steam roll the competition. They need to not take peddle off the gas and play some Geno Auriemma ball and desire to go 30-0 stuff. Like I said before why learn from a loss when you can play for perfection. This team is really good. There is no reason why they should not win the PK Invitational, the Big East, and get to the Final Four. Just keep getting better UConn and believe in yourselves. This team has it. They have that winning stroke, and the one, two punch knock'em out. Hurley did a great job of mixing in players to the game. He's taking notes from Calhoun who was the best at throwing the bodies into the game to exploit match up weakness like Kardiac Kemba, so sad for Pitt! Hahaha.😃

It's nice to see uconn players that can actually hit perimeter shots, if they want to go far, they can't rely only on sanogo, and it looks like they don't have to this year
