Artificial Spaceship Detected in the Solar System!

  • No really - there's an artificial probe detected by astronomers to be moving at speed through the Solar System this week! It's Cherry Red, looks like a car, and used to belong to Elon Musk. Ok sorry for the bait! These observations actually give us a sense as to what an artificial interstellar interloper might look like. But this week hasn't been all cherries as the President takes aim at WFIRST, a next-gen space telescope which was the top recommendation of the US astronomy community in the last decadal survey.

    Dude, THANK you for fueling my childhood hunger for space-knowledge. You've saved my hunger from being killed by boring info-vids showing random pictures and using complex language. You're a hero, sir!

    2 years later, it seems the telescope is still on track to launch in the mid 20s

    My God you are the sweetest youtube scientist I've ever seen. You don't sound as if you're smarter than everyone. You're simply teaching us about science. You even smile while expressing disagreement.

    Thank you professor. I personally know a few who refuse to believe we ever went to the moon. It’s hard to argue with their stubborness. We need more of your sound logic.

    With computing power and technology increasing at such a massive rate and things like metamaterials coming to the forefront to replace lenses, I would say that waiting a few years may be in the best interest of astronomy. Many new propulsion systems are coming on line as well which will reduce cost even more.

    Hi David, I just wanted you to know that I was the Chief Space Architect of the project for your windfall. One mans loss is another's gain. This effect caused the loss of the program I was on and many of my friends and I were given the boot. I am very excited to see that WFIRST will profit and wish NASA all the good fortune in making something wonderful out of our loss. I am truly saddened to hear what the President has done for NASA's future mission.

    That's right folks: launching a Tesla Roadster into space DOES have scientific value!

    What about crowdfunding space telescopes? Is that something the professional astronomy be interested in. Being entirely private would keep it safe from any cuts in the federal budget.

    enjoyed this. You look down, to punctuate, like James Burke. Thats a good thing :-)

    As far as my knowledge extends, having Multiple 'Hubble Class' Telescopes all working in unison has many advantages over single arrangements

    I like how it says “artificial” aren’t all spaceships artificial or have artificial origins?

    You got me. For the first 45 seconds I was shitting my pants. So many things were racing through my mind. Excitement, fear, questions..... Until you said "Elon Musk's space roadster."

    Just watched your video, I did watch the launch of the Tesla car, cant figure out why anyone would want one on earth much less in space but i agree that watching it in space is neat. As far as the Rump budget cuts for the newer space telescope, that is very upsetting, but then what do you expect for a want to be TV star that still hangs by his tail from the trees.

  • @BidenIsKing
    @BidenIsKing Před 3 lety +1

    The Webb has a dark matter scope on it. Maybe why the budget was cut.
