  • Today's episode was a long time coming. We've been together for 25 years but we have always had different ways of approaching many things. We're going to talk about how we have had different beliefs in medical practices over the years. We discuss our opinions on Eastern vs. Western practices, what we think about fasting, and what we both consider necessary to live a long and healthy life. Let's get into it!

Jesus said in the Bible that some things require prayer and fasting to change. Jesus fasted as Tab said, Daniel fasted, David fasted, Peter fasted. Fasting is a way to draw closer to God as Tab said. It is a way to help your spiritual self grow and become stronger and more dominant while at the same time weakening/not "feeding" the flesh and its desires. It does sharpen you spiritually and you do feel closer to God during and after fasting. As both Tab and Chance said, there are various forms of fasting-food, social media, whatever God leads you to do. Good episode. Reminded me of a desire to try acupuncture also.

I have been 💯 into holistic remedies/medicine for 28 yrs (essential oils, herbs, chiropractor, acupuncture, massage and homeopathic) when I walked away from depending on my practicing doctor to give me answers. I’m whole food plant based as well. Haven’t taken anything from Big Pharma in 28 yrs and I don’t have any illness or disease I’m aware of. Glory to God! 🙌🏾🙌🏾

I love this conversation. The way I understand it, we “need” food and by fasting from it, God demonstrates His ability to sustain us. It speaks to how He is the source of life- not food alone.
“For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.”
    ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
You do need food physically, however fasting reveals the power God has over our lives. Fasting weakens our flesh that we may be able to walk with our Spirit leading us. When we fast it is supposed to be intentional and the time is supposed to be focused on prayer, getting wisdom from the Word and asking God to build our strength in those areas when we are done the outcome should be development.
“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”
    ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:16-17‬ ‭ESV‬‬
Learning how to walk in the Spirit can begin with fasting.

I definitely understand both sides of this segment. My spouse’s church is doing a food fast but i challenged my spouse to dig deeper and find the real reason of the sacrifice. And its different for each of us, each time. And its true. Nowadays, fasting can be focused in letting go of where or what we spend our largest focus on and replacing it with prayer/meditation, and wait to hear/experience enlightenment. It can be enriching if you are present in your mind & body and true to the sacrifice.

  • @kamikoils9336
    @kamikoils9336 Před 7 měsíci +6

I totally get where Chance is coming from. Like you Tab, I was raised in the church and my husband wasn’t. So many things in regards to God he learned as a result of being married to me. His relationship with God was built on his terms. I never told him what he should do. I just allowed him to witness my relationship, my faith and manifestations and it made him want his own relationship with God.
Fasting to me whether it is food or something else is showing God we are willing to sacrifice something in order to gain clarity, closeness with Him and to HEAR him better.

  • @mzjayalwayz

It’s the way Chance says we ‘need’ food. Though we do, the spiritual purpose of fasting is to release the need and codependency of anything other than God (whatever you call that higher spirit) to show your commitment to relying on God FIRST. And he will sustain you through the fast. That’s how it brings you closer. Because you’re literally relying solely on God for sustenance. He loves that and rewards that

Matthew 6:16-18 does say followers of Christ should do fasting as a regular part of life and in secrecy with God. There are three different types of fasts recorded in Scripture: the absolute fast, the normal fast and the partial fast. It's like you have a mental and physical cleansing after fasting.

It’s two different types of foods that we need’ one is natural foods and the other is spiritual foods! When you fast in the spirit ram , you seek Gods word ‘ meaning you get feed of the word if God by seeking his face in things you want to be done in your life as far as healing or you could be fasting for God to do something within your family. Now we do need natural foods as well but we should never eat just to be eating’ because then it becomes a form of glutting . Very very good topic I love this topic GO HEAD ON MISS TAB AND MR. Chance

Beautiful conversation! I fast for health reasons, but I see the strong spiritual connection. Fasting has taught me that I don’t need food as often as the restaurant, marketing executives say I need it. Basically, the flesh is made weak by constantly feeding it. It’s almost like leaving my iPhone plugged in all of the time. At some point you have to let the battery naturally run down so that the phone can run correctly. Fasting gives you clarity about the mind and body connection.

Tabatha and Chance, I love you both. Y'all 😮 made me laugh so hard. I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and our church fast once a month. It's called fast and testimony. We are asked to fast and pray for whatever is needed. Then we take the cost of the meals we fasted from and give it as a fast-offering. These monies go to help people in our church and communities. We know there should never be anyone going hungry in the world. Now,personally, I find fasting helpful for many reasons, one it help clear my mind and body in order that my Spirit can become stronger. I've noticed that when I'm fasting, I feel more tuned to the Holy Spirit. I also feel it's a sacrifice we make to give up food so that our spirit can become stronger. (The flesh is weak, but the spirit is strong) Tab said it right when she said we are rewarded. I believe that reward is ten fold, in many ways, we also get closer to God . Chance, give it a try. There is nothing to lose, and much to gain. God bless ❤❤

Lol at Chance’s honesty and vulnerability with sharing his uncertainties regarding the concept of fasting. We are souls/energy/pure spirit embodied/housed in human form. God is the ultimate and most highest force of divine creativity. Gods love, power and presence is a very high vibration that we can connect with and feel oneness with once we decrease our physical intake. The less flesh we take in…the more aligned we become with our spirit man. So during our fast as we may discontinue physical food/nutrients we may read and write more and actually open our spiritual eyes more because now we are nourishing our spiritual selves by writing, creating, reading, connecting the dots and getting revelations. This can be likened to feeling “high”. You feel more elevated because your spirit man is moving to the forefront instead of your natural man. So once you experience the energy burst of perhaps a 3 day water, juice or just fruit fast you feel much more empowered with supernatural power and strength because your supernatural senses become more heightened. Clarity is present and the door is open to receive absolute divine guidance.

    My understanding of fasting:
Fasting is to deny your flesh, that controls us daily. when you give up food you are making your flesh come into submission. while feeding your spirit more, which is what you should be led by. The giving up food is only part of fasting, there should be praying and seeking God during that time, for direction and guidance or anything specific you decide. When I fast I pray, " Lord please help me give up what my flesh wants, for what my spirit needs." which is the need for more God.

I started getting acupuncture when I moved to Japan. I have L5-S1 disc herniation. I can assure you it works. I started there for acute pain and decided to keep going for maintenance. The needles they used on me were no larger than the needles used to pin clothes together when sewing. They also use the same equipment as used in chiropractor’s office. They also light some type of candle and let it sit on my back during the time the needles are in and the TENS unit and suction cups are on. I’m in and out within 30 minutes.
The only time I left with needles in was when I was in acute pain, but those needles were much shorter.
    Glad you’re feeling better.

Chance, it don't hurt. Acupuncture is great. Don't knock stuff till you try it. some insertions may be a little uncomfortable, but the needle can be adjusted or removed if needs be. I didn't care for needles, I detested them ... b4 I gave birth. That took away a lot of fears. but its not what it seems. When you are in excruciating pain, you'll consider just about anything. That's what led me to try it. It was helpful. I will kp it incorporated in my health regimen. If insurance companies are now covering those services, it shows the validity and effectiveness of that practice, along with chiropractic. It can be effective, just like anything else. It can be like a process, like Tab said.

Fasting to get closer to God… it’s difficult to explain unless you’ve spiritually been there, seen and heard from God at a higher vibrational level however I’d relate it to this for Chance…
As a former police officer there were certain disciplines you had to learn in order to be a more responsive officer. Meaning if you were 300 pounds it would be highly difficult to complete your job in the field especially if you’re eating a lot of fatty, greasy & sugary foods. Mind fog.
    1.
We fast to clear the fog so we can hear better from God.
    2.
Even vegetarians sometimes eat a lot of carbs, sugars and things that make us sluggish. That’s hard on our bodies & our minds which ultimately makes it difficult for us to show up the way we need to for our families and careers.
    3.
Ask yourself if you’ve seen miracles in your family, field or marriage Chance. Especially during a time where you knew it could have ONLY been God. Like giving up social media… something instinctually told you to do it. That’s God. That’s the Holy Spirit. You felt separated from self in some way & that was your way of quieting the noise
    4.
It’s hard when you’re on “milk” so to speak. Meaning there are milk Christian’s & meat Christian’s. A newborn baby can’t eat meat, they need milk and don’t have the understanding, age or wisdom that we do. As an adult we can process meat because we have age, wisdom, development etc. in order for you Chance to truly understand Tab then you’d need to fast & allow yourself to be experience what Tab has.
    5.
In physical you can’t run a marathon & perform at optimal levels without proper nutrition and discipline. For us Chance, fasting is our way of achieving optimal levels in spiritual the same way you do in basketball (physical)
All the things your family has benefit from over the years related to Tabs dreams, prophetic messages from God, how she’s able to tell people things without them even knowing her but she knows those things about them… IF she wasn’t fasting & building her relationship with God… nobody would benefit from her gift that she has as a result of fasting.
I’ve said a lot hope this helps somebody ❤❤❤

You guys have brought the most interesting topics this year! I laughed pretty hard on this one. Like Tab, I believe in holistic healing instead of prescription meds. I'm 59 and need zero meds. Recently, I developed a pinched nerve in my back from sitting on my bed and using my laptop for too long. If it gets bad, I might try the acupuncture needle in the back side to heal it. I like how Chance said he's married to Tab, but he doesn't own her. Great way to put it. Love your shows!

You both are doing lots everyday!

I had acupuncture decades ago. After listening to this episode, I may try it again. I too experience excruciating sciatica, so maybe this is my cue. And, I'm with Tab about my preference for natural methods of healing. Thank y'all for this episode!

I appreciate Chance living his truth out loud and not being ashamed of it. Much respect to him for that. This conversation is one of many that I have had to have with my son, a young adult who's still wanting to understand why I do what I do as a woman of God. While he has reservations on my beliefs. Thanks guys for speaking on this. ❤

My Physio used acupuncture on me and it worked. The needles are similar to the pressure points that the Physio finds with their hands. They look for the areas that are tight and put put needles in. It is slightly painful when the needles go in. They take the needles out when the muscle relaxes. It absolutely worked for me.
Secondly, I’ve been having bad hot flashes for a couple of years. I went on a raw vegan diet two weeks ago and I haven’t had one hot flash. So I believe in natural remedies. Let food be thy medicine.

Hey Tab & Chance, great show today this might be a easier way to understand fasting for Chance. Yes we need food but when you need something from GOD whatever it is the understanding should be GOD I need this thing from you so bad I am not going to eat in place of eating breakfast lunch and dinner I will be in your ear praying discussing this thing that I need. This thing is so important I refuse to eat until GOD speak to me concerning it.

I had my tonsils out this past July, and for the 1st 7 days all I could tolerate were popsicles. I couldn't even drink water without choking and recoiling from the pain. It was literally popsicles, food videos on CZcams, and Jesus. I never thought at the age of 32 I could go seven days without bread or a peice of chicken. You'd be amazed at the things you can do when you don't have a choice, or you've made up your mind to do so.
