I don't understand the "it sucks" argument. Either you want 360 or you don't (its a decision you have to make when considering "action" cams). If you go with 360, what camera is better than the X4? Everything that people dont like happens to every other 360 camera. But the X4 has better image quality than any other consumer 360 camera.
Also, you can't compare 360 to regular action cams. Thats like comparing an Audi A4 to a Toyota Tacoma. The A4 doesnt suck because it cant tow a boat. The tacoma doesnt suck because it doesnt get 35 mpg. They have their pros and cons.

Exactly, I know 360 from when I make 360 panorames with DSLR. Yes 13000pixels wides which is more then 8000 pixels, yes bracketing with 9 shots, yes much larger lenses.
But I wished I had the x4 at that time because it would have made things so much faster and more profitable.
Horses for courses, a x4 is doing every course faily good, compact and affordable but never is the best in one course and that is fine for me.
It is like : "If you are allowed only one camera on a trip beside your smartphone"........ that is where the x4 shines.
I think don't understand the difference from normal action cam with a 360 camera. Whya does my 4k action cam takes better video than 8k insta360?🤪 120° FOV vs 180° + reframe. Complaining about imperfect stiching, when the pro has to do it with complicated rig and manual stiching. Insta360 is full of compromise but it is the best in the 360 consumer world. They made 360 camera able to compete directly with traditional action cam. The result may not be exact comparison but close enough to be usable.

The X3 amazed me to the point that it became my GoToo. Just bought the X4, it’s sitting beside me awaiting an overnight Amazon SD delivery. I’m hoping for improved low light performance. Not for outdoor, I used the X3 for a Grandkids cam. Love capturing Everything. Also makes a fantastic travel cam. No more lugging 40lbs of DSLR gear

my first insta360 and it’s a great camera to have fun. Colors looks good and editing is fun with the app. I think it is 4k on each camera makes 8k total. So if you zoom in when you reframe in 4k timeline resolution decreases.

We like your videos as a youtubers and a product tester we need you to talk to the gopro and dji of somme broblems that are not fixed yeat ... in gopro the problem of multicam mode in gopro the remote 2020 when you conect 2 camera or more .. one of them is hero 12 black .. the hero 12 lost conection with the remote ..... its 8 month and it is not fixed ..... the second problem is the dji mic 2 dont work with the hero 12 black in bluetooth conection is stuck in the pairing mode .... try to send our voice to the gopro and dji to fix this 2 problem plz

Yes. Insta360 studio then FCP. I will have a video on this coming. Almost done! Its in-depth so even the noobiest can understand 😬🙌

I started my channel a month ago with no video editing skills, but pretty tech savvy, I have been learning on the fly and went with FCP since I am on a Mac, with Canva for thumbnails etc, would motion array be a replacement for Canva or would they be used for two different purposes?
The image in the sunlight it s amazing, but in the shadows..not so much. Is it my settings?

my only problem in X4 was the low light on the motorcycle to much motion blur even on 1/400 shutter speed
Thinking about one for a month-long ADV trip throughout the West, but it sounds to me like the only possibility of incredible imagery is on clear sunny days… am I wrong?
@@Yowzoe if there's light it well be prefect , if it's low light you well get motion blur but if you ask me is it worth it if it's the first 360 camera then yes but if you already have x3 then no

No, ull still experience fogging, but less thn x3 and it depends on the environment you’re filming in
@@RobHK thanks, so its more of the enviroment rather than the protective lens itself.
I almost sent the X4 back because the quality looked so terrible(lot of artifacts etc) in the desktop x4 even in well lit buildings. Then I finally exported the footage and it was much better than it looked. I wonder if that is one problem that others are also facing. Exported with the quality set to the max it actually was usable although lower quality(2k) than a full frame. It definitely can be used for b cam footage to insert into video.
Insta360 stufio uses low resolution preview video, basically a proxy file,created by camera (.lrv extension on you sd card). Thats why you can so easily and fast edit video directly from your camera, from your phone, over wifi, without downloading it

I've come a long way from KODAK BOX and Leica M3, now Olympus, and this ONE, which feels like having x4 camera in 1 stick. From Durch North Sea to Tuscany, I will thanks to your tutorials find my way in this labyrint. When paid ofmmy debts, I might pay you, for now scratch scrath scrath (no lenses though). I made myself a 13-40 cm stick (Arkimede) and have it all in 1 pouch (14 x 8 x 3,5), so now it became a pocket Drone! me 1.90, holding it with 1 hand on the top of my head, a non person selfie, which suits me. === ta.
Nice summary review but if I see your tropical island footage once more I shall scream! Maybe it's just jealousy. When it comes to the quality of the footage right from the camera, at last someone has done a really good analytical test of the picture settings which include codec, bit rate, and sharpness. This has shown that there are significant improvements including dynamic range and colour when using H265 and high bit rate - if you have the means to store the extra data and the means to edit it (not that big a deal these days) then use those settings for best results. The test also showed the degradation of the image when low sharpness is selected. You end up with X1 footage after spending all that money. I would suggest that users who set low sharpness because that is what they use with all cameras could be making a big mistake. At least do some careful tests of the sharpness settings (medium, the default value, seems best compromise) before making a final decision. Perhaps the most important setting on the camera but rarely mentioned.
How are you enjoying the Stats overlay? The one that shows your Health data from your Apple Watch? Oh, that's right, it's missing. Removed. Not one "influencer" has mentioned this. Wonder why not???

I am so conflicted...I have never used or owned a 360 cam. The Insta360 X4 seems to be the best bang for buck option. But then I also see sooo much paid content and people only talking about that this is the best thing ever. Many users complain about customer service (communication and returns) and bugs (not really being water proof etc)....Not sure if I should get it. What don't you like about it? Also, the accessories are pretty expensive, is it ok to buy 3rd party accessories like the 3m stick and car/body mounts? Obviously, the quality can vary, but does it have to be original from Insta360 or do some 3rd party products offer good value? Thx for your time...Have a nice day

There’s not really anything i dislike. If anything it would be changing between presets instead of shooting mode when i use the dive case
I owned many accessories, on hindsight the only thing I will buy insta360 accessories is the 1.2m selfie stick and the all purpose tripod. Cheaper selfie stick mostly use twist to lock when extended. Original just use friction so just pull it to length. If you leave you camera unattended on a tripod, you need a tripod that can open as wide and lay as flat as possible. I found for both this item official insta360 item is my only option apart from going for more expensive item from monfrotto etc.

I am disappointed with the lack of HDR photo features. Once you dig down through the menu, you find that the number of shots and +/-EV settings are all missing, and there is no option to save HDRs as RAW files.
OK I have a dumb question, but here it goes - I'm on the fence between the DJI OA4 and Insta360 x4. I know - 2 completely different cameras but I can't seem to decide which one should I buy. I like making travel videos and I've been wanting to get a camera for some time now. I did some (ok, a lot) research and narrowed it down to OA4 and x4. The x4 is an interesting one - 360, single lens mode, good app, something different, but at the same time it seems to be pretty fragile (need to keep an eye on the lenses), the editing process is a bit time consuming (at least from what I heard), pretty awful in low light (based on other reviews). The OA4 on the other hand has better IQ, no lens guards, but it ain't no 360 camera :) The cool thing is that the x4 has the single lens mode so it can do what the OA 4 does.
I've been going at it for days - any thoughts?

worst thing about this camera is, you have to use a diving case or uninstall the lens cover when you submerse it. Otherwise you have fog or water drops on your footage. slicon sealing sounds good but ugly at the same time.
I sealed my protective lenses with a glue gun to make them waterproof/dustproof. No fogging.. its ugly but it works.
I hope insta360 will release special gasket for those
How did you do it? Do you have any video? :)
no video, just pictures. but basically you apply the glue around the gaps of the protective lenses. you can use your thumb to push the glue in. I had to redo it a couple of time as one of the lens wasn't fully sealed. you do a leak-test by immerging the lenses in a water cup.
What's great is that the glue can be easily removed if you need to replace the lenses

This was a review!? This sounds more like a sales pitch, from this video I would conclude that this camera is damn near perfect.
I bought x4 two months ago. I used in so many places. It can be the best camera that can be used in beach. But my camera fall down from invisible selfie stick. I used it as an tripod to shoot my daughter and her friends. But it fell easily. It is heavier and taller than x3 so it can not be suitable for some shots like these. May be it is a little heavier but it can be important for long term. It has a big scratch on one lens because i used without lens guards for better quality. It effects the qualty of image. i must send to their service that can cost me hundreds of dollars with shipment. X3 could be a better choice beause it is smaller and lighter.
You need a really wide tripod for this camera. I used the x2 with insta360 extendable tripod. Even with that the camera swings with the wind

I own the X4 and i'm longing to take it to our family Paris trip next week. I own action selfie stick and extended selfie stick. Do you think i would have trouble at airport if i take the long extended selfie stick with me ? I'm really worried if the airport security might take my 70$ extended stick equipment for airport security reasons. I'm longing for the low light video for x4 btw.
I don't know why they would do that. I have taken a bag with all sorts of video and audio gear in it including light stand and tripod broken down in carry on. It was not a problem. If they would balk at it you just need to show what it's for.
I've had my carry-on inspected twice because of my extended selfie stick. Only once did TSA call over a supervisor to "approve" it. But for checked baggage, they don't care.

Nobody talks about lense fogging believe me avoid this camera if u stay in anywhere that temps are above 25 degrees celcius yrly I have x 3 and x4 and they both lense fog after few hours of recording I live in Kenya and it’s hot most of the yr I live in uk and using it now is better
because 99% of the review's are paid to only say the good things not the bad even insta360 support is garbage
I bought the X3 last year, and while it doesn't always get that hot here in Vancouver, I've used it in above 25° Celsius before... The lens didn't fog up. I think humidity plays a big part, but me personally, haven't had that issue
Never had fogging issue and I live in hot and extreme humidity in the south in us and is on the water with me all the time. 🤷 Both x3 and x4
Yeah, neither my x3 or my x4 has ever fogged up that type of weather. With that being said I own about $20,000 worth of premium canon glass and even those have the possibility of fogging up in the right condition. You’re complaining about a natural occurring phenomenon not a product.

It can't capture linear video it distortion your picture looking like a cartoon .looking every thing round 🙁

Feels more like a second advert and not really like a long term review... you just skipped in the beginning the low quality issue and moved to the usabilty which we all know thanks to a bazilion sponsored videos! People often missed the fact that it's a 360 camera. Whatever BS MP count they use is for a globe not just the lens that is similar to other flat camera. 360 will never beat single fish eye action cam or normal lens camera in term of quality when you are trying to produce a flat video.

I just bought an x4 explictly because I want the flexibility to reframe and add movement with key fames after the fact through a 360 degree of motion. No other camera style can do this. Sure I have a mirrorless with a ridiculously wide fisheye. I am still probably going to use this more.
Hard to talk about down sides if you don't experience them? You act like it's a widely known thing. I have been researching this camera since launch and just got mine and only in the past couple days have I seen any references to fogging or distorted images with the lens guards and I have read probably thousands of customer reviews everywhere. At most I have seen a hand full of references and you're here acting like this guy is purposefully not mentioning something a small number of users are experiencing in specific circumstances. That's not very reasonable.
Lay person will always complain about low quality issue because insta360 does not makes it clear that from your 5.7k or 8k,with all the reframing you will end up with much less than what you started with. They will say a 4k gopro will get a better video than insta360.
Issues with the lens guard has been known since it is introduced for previous models. Unfortunately, it is a permanent problem that will be present in future products. Using premium guard can lessen its effect. If you value video quality and want to minimise stitching error, not using any lens guard is the way.
Why insta360 became popular in the 360 community is because the stitching is done automatically on your phone. People accept some error and it's limitation because they don't have to stitch the 360 video manually using a computer. Results from insta360 is still far from what Pro can achieve with their equipments, gopro and dslr can produce videos that are much closer to what the professionals can do.
