    we should all respect the dlnr and their mission. the slide and trail is not safe, nor is it public land for thrill seekers. dlnr officers are involved with both enforcement and public safety. warnings not necessary for trespassing on this type of state land. dlnr staff are working, 1 officer or 20, lots to do no worry, they are there for good reason.

      It’s more safe than surfing or riding bikes on the side of the road for the iron man training, maybe should stop all the things that are killing people. It’s way safer than most things you could do on this island. Just driving puts you at higher risk of injury or death but they not going stop that.

    I love it when people who disregard multiple signs, whether it be in cases such as this, traffic laws, etc respond to police officers in a surprised tone such as as one of the violators did in this video when he responded "Really??" Do they REALLY think that the fake reaction of a "Really" is going to get them any sympathy?? Really, really lame!!

    I think it came up as a fun things to do in one of those "things to do in Hawaii" type guides.that's always the death nell for any place.

    People still hike this everyday. you just got to get lucky. Theres a farmer that request either food or cash sometimes youll have to get past him most of the time. Hes a cash grab but his threats are usually empty. Also avoid workers on the weekdays some of them are very restrictive and protective of this land especially the locals.

    So they had pay money to go through the first gate, why they allowing people to take money.

    • @kuakowardy5403

      The first main gate is private property you paying to cross his land once you cross it then you hit the signs and he has every legal right to collect money or send you away.

    I was always told by HPD that it wasn't considered trespassing unless you were asked to leave and didn't even though there maybe signs. At least that's the explanation my neighbor got when people jumped his fence despite no trespassing signs being posted. Guess a different standard of rules apply for DLNR managed land.

    Its SOOOOO dangerous that instead of not letting you go on your hike we will give you a ticket. LOL. And because we worry about you being hurt on this hike, we are here with our guns to shoot at you if you decide to run away from us after we give you the ticket and continue on with your hike anyway. These people are more than GOD. LOL. But...., I understand, they have to contribute for their paychecks...

    Another way of getting money from the locals and hikers for this case, why do you need 5 dlnr officials, when you could just have one from the beginning of the day, too stop them from trespassing in the first place,
    I mean think about it all those dlnr for the whole day, saves alot of money if you just send 1 for the whole day, com on all he has to do is stand around nd kick everyone out, not that hard of a job, and not one tickets or court dates goes out unless it a repeat offender, saves the locals alot of time and money...

    public land, kids looking for a thrill, why not take the idea and make a amazing publicly funded waterslide up there? this could be an amazing attraction like the irrigation canals on Kawaii.

    • @pohakumana4288
      @pohakumana4288 Před 5 lety

      Kawaii ? Kauai? maybe?

    • @sandramorey2529
      @sandramorey2529 Před 5 lety +1

      Yeah, same with Yosemite. Why not just let folks climb out on the wet rocks where if they slip they will go over the waterfall and no one survives that? Kids looking for a thrill maybe can get in line to climb Everest. These places are difficult to maneuver and expensive for rescue. The DLNR is there to protect you and to protect the land. Water slides were fun, but maybe not very practical. Death lasts a long time.
