Luke Rockhold is a legend in the world of UFC MMA for his rise and fall. Here he takes on Joe Schilling in Karate Combat knocking him out with a lead hook.
Rockhold wasn't know as being a "striker" he was a jujitsu grappler who had good kicks. In strikeforce he was known for being really hard to beat as he had good all round skills. No elite level in anyone thing. Certainly not known as having ridiculous boxing prowess
Oh that’s Joe Schilling… tbh the only thing I really know about Joe Schilling is a video of him knocking a guy out at a bar a couple years ago. I remover a few YT channels I watched at the time talking about it. (Also on a side note, that’s funnily enough that was how I first found out about Sean Strickland. Because I remember watching someone talk about Joe Scholling KO’ing the random bar guy, then I went to find the video it, watched it and then was lead down a rabbit hole where I eventually stumbled across Seam Strickland and it was a video of him getting upset with this heavy set dude who a former Ju jitsu champion or something like that because he was trying to hurt Sean while they were doing grappling only…idk it’s hard to remember but I think his name was Orlando Sanchez and if I’m remembering correctly, he unfortunately passed away not all that long ago.
Luke Rockhold was a destroyer in his UFC run preloss. He finished everybody before winning the belt, never leaving it to the judge, the he lost, got hurt, side lined by injuries and just got older. But he was very good in his prime.
Fun fact luke actually perfecting his right hand because when he faced bisping he always dropped his left hand when throwing that right and you can see that he keep it guarding
Finished Costos, Boetch, Machida, Bisping and destroyed Weidman to win the belt. It would have been nice to see him hold the belt for a while as he finished every opponent he faced in the UFC, but I liked his run while it lasted.
He didnt respect Rockhold at all, he's hands was basically down in punching range when he entered in. What can I say It's he's own fault, especially being a muay thai master he should know this
Tbh I think it was more of Joe underestimating Father Time. A lot of high level strikers like to keep their hands low like that. It opens up a lot of advantages but relies heavily on head movement. My guess is Father Time caught up with Joe’s reflexes because Luke would have gotten smoked in the past.
look.. The UFC is hands down the best division for Combat fighters... period.. anything can happen in a fight.. but there's levels.. and Joe Schilling is not at that level.. this was a major mismatch.. and any recently retired UFC fighters should do well in this league.. Grappling or no grappling.. UFC fighters all have impeccable standup..
Not all UFC fighters have impeccable standup, but yeah the levels thing is true. It takes a certain level of athlete to make it to the UFC vs other leagues.
I agree with everything until we get to impeccable stand up just because you happen to be in the UFC. Multiple names pop to mind that would disprove this easily
I mean you just have to look to Jake Paul’s brutal KO of Woodley to completely invalidate this comment. So despite there being parts I’d actually agree with... your overall point is just so poor. (Oh yeah and I almost forgot the Ben Askren KO. Then he did KO these next 2 guys but he won via decision against both Silva & Diaz, which Nate Diaz COMPLETELY meets your criteria of only recently retiring from the UFC.) (And Jake Paul isn’t even some super accomplished pro-fighter whose entire life has been spent dedicated to the sport… he’s a former CZcamsr/Disney channel star turned boxer.)
Awesome to see Rockhold succeed
Believe and achieve
He’s a former champion
Muay Thai is a closer distance than MMA style. This is why he ROCKED him.
Rockhold's kicks and BJJ are frightening.
He's the Mike Perry of Karate Combat.
🤣🤣🤣🤣THATS AWESOME🤣🤣🤣🤣
UFC fighters are no joke
"Believe it, achieve it" - The last samurai
Nice, it’s so cool to see UFC fighters find success outside the UFC.
Happy for Luke. Joe isn’t a push over

His jiu jitsu is pretty good in my opinion
@@Swaze742 he has brilliant jujitsu for sure. When he was champion in strikeforce he hadn’t reached the level of “elite” grappling he has since then.
@@Elhesh well yes in the UFC but not since 2014, 2015.
That looked so telegraphed. 🤦🏻♂️
Easy to comment when you’re watching from a 3rd person POV. It’ll be different if it was in front of you! 🙏
So happy to see this guy get a win! A badass one too!!! Keep it up ma dude!!! ✊

This is perfect for rockhold. Sam Alvey has been very successful thus far in karate combat as well.

Calling Joe Schilling, a kickboxer, a “Muay Thai master” is insane.

Last time I saw Luke was when he was getting smooched by Romero with him saying I luhhh ju Lukh
Not him bleeding into Paul Costas mouth? Lol
man keep those hands up sheeesh

This was basically Bellator vs UFC yet again it demonstrated why UFC fighters are miles ahead rest🫡‼️
Glad to see my fellow alpha Libran brother get the W in 2024
All my homies love to see Schilling ko'ed. His bouts against Hisaki kato were so satisfying
Right hook Robbie
Damn I bet Schilling thought that was going to be easy. I would have bet the house on Joe lol good stuff Luke
Hate the walk up the wall for corner fuck that!
Why "Muay Thai Master" and not "Joe Schilling"? I think Joe is known well enough in combat sports to just put his name in the title.
One moment of distraction.
Admittedly not a Luke fan, but Joe should have seen that punch.
Legit win.
New teeth achievement
They are making kumite style rings now huh
Why he did BareKnuckle, I’ll never understand it. This is where he belongs.
Ahhhh, how did joe eat this:(
👍

I mean, he fight like this all the time.
Karate kombat has lost its way, it was cool when it was only karate purists. Now they will just sign anybody.
The referee was slow

@@marionpaige8949exactly. Most UFC guys have sloppy stand up compared to pure boxers. They have too many areas to work on so its understandable.

I don’t know, my bro. Jake Paul has been taking names of retired UFC champions.
