Lumnah Acres - Zábava
Al, if you have a switch in the side by side that is not being used, you can wire it to a 12v relay, then connect the terminals of the relay between the battery in the bed and the spreader. Now you have a way to turn on the spreader from inside the cab. If you don't have a switch in the cab, put one in.
I agree, connect it on the negative side, so if it hits any metal on your side by side it wont short out.
Or get a relay/remote control combo. Relay could be mounted on the spreader to keep it as one self contained unit.
Relay goes effectively inline on the existing wires between battery and spreader - no wires to route, no hole to drill.
Could you put a few hay bails where the run off flows though the field, it should slow the flow of water .
Anybody remember New Yolk City and Moose? What about Crazy white Chicken?
I love your videos! You’re one of the first channels I started watching after my domestic partner died. He always wanted to have a homestead or at least live off grid, but the opportunity never came up. It’s amazing what you’ve done over the years.
I know you said you don’t want goats, but as a viewer, I will miss them. They add personality to your farm.
I must have missed it. Did they eat the goats?
@@paulcaskey Still have 2 Goats 'Hope' and ( I think it's ) Daisy !
The 2 Goats are just pets, now, an expense that is currently tolerated, but they now Free Range at will and that's not in planning !
Farming Cattle is the easiest Animal and the cheapest to feed, plus easiest to sell offsprings, Cattle are more entertaining than Goats if not considering baby Goats frolicking !
24:22 Al telling you he’s been working on things is called merchandising. It gets you to come back and watch so that you can see what’s going on. It’s very smart on his part. So you shouldn’t complain! I’m curious as to what he’s got going. So I will be back to see because my curiosity overrides my negativity.
Al. Run your wiring longer into the cab with a male lighter plug on the end. Add a switch to the wiring so you can turn on and off from inside. No need to carry any batteries or need for second person. I did something similar on my TYM for multiple attachments needing 12v power
That’s a slick idea with the lighter plug. Thanks
@@LumnahAcres and the plug could then be used to charge batteries or phones, etc as well.
I would add a camera to the back so you can see if you’re running out of materials.. :)
Teasers about an upcoming project is a great way to keep us anxious to see the announcement of that project’s video…
Good morning Lumnah Acres and viewers. The weather in our area (East Tennessee) has been nuts for the last couple days. The Highland boys are so chilled. Brutus needs a herd of Highlands to watch after!! Another excellent video!
Gooooooooood Morning Ron thanks. Hopefully your weather settles down. It seems like it’s been a wild spring so far
Good morning Ron!🌄😊 hope the tornados stay away!
I miss Olivia❣️ When I first saw Gina combing, I thought it was her and got excited. I’m sure she’s becoming a beautiful young lady.
I sure hope all of the rain dose'nt wash away all the seeds !! I LOVE YOU ALL ! 🥰🥰🥰
Good morning Lumnah family from another sunny day here in the Pacific NW! Good morning viewers. Myles of smiles! I'm glad you have a chance to spread your Redmond "Grow" into your pastures. That's great that it feeds the soil! I do like that hopper and the can-am is lighter. Oh boy, doing other projects and not telling us about them? I don't think the chickens can eat all that "Grow" out of the grass. I hope a light rain can wash it into your soils. I think you're right Al, when the dust cloud stops you're out of "Grow." Cute, George likes to watch you spread the "grow." Myles, not so much. Too muddy in some places. Good idea to spread this. Yay, the compost pile did get to 120 degrees! Great job! Darn, rain! I sure hope not much gets washed out Al! Thanks for this video Lumnah family!
G’day 😊 it’s such a joy to watch Miles and George getting their grooming with love and care 😊

Good morning, Lumnahs! Al, I would like to let you know that I have absolutely NO problem with you "teasing" about behind the scenes projects or projects that might be happening in the future. I love your channel; you guys are my favorite! I have really enjoyed "following along on your homesteading journey"! 😉 Enjoy the rest of your week!
Good morning Robin, Al and Gina are always thinking way ahead of what we see and sometimes things get done that we are never shown. This show is the best, well done Al & Gina !!
@davidgetchell3633 Hi David! The thing I admire most about Al & Gina is their forward thinking & ability to plan ahead. They know what they want the homestead to be & they have a road map to make it happen. When Al said today that some viewers commented about "teasing", I wanted to let him know there are those of us who aren't bothered by it. I look forward to each new video to see what my favorite homesteaders are up to. 😄 Take care!
@@robindelude3787 We make plans for how we want to do things, then something comes along and we take a different road !
Good Day from Kamakura, Japan! 🇯🇵 Hello Lumnah Acres Family & Friends! This has to be the busiest time of year for us homesteaders and gardeners 😅! 👍🏾🤩🐶
Hello there Robert!
@@HeisstrongGood morning! 👍🏾🤩🐶
Good day Robert! You are not kidding! Had 50 broiler chicks arrive 2 days ago. Only one DOA. The others are doing well. Walking around with full crops, funny birds.
@@forrestgump9576Good morning Forrest! I hope your chicks are healthy! 👍🏾🤩🐶
Good evening Robert!
Hi Al and Gina, I loved George’s little happy dance, leg shake after you put the hay in the paddock! I hope you get a couple of days of sunshine so your grass will grow and your batteries charge up! I know that jumping the gun on a project is definitely more disappointing than holding off on the announcements! 🥺so frustrating when the weather changes without notice! I hope it doesn’t cause too much runoff! Peace and blessings! 😮
Way to go Al. I hope your special stuff works to grow more grass on your land.
In addition to the other suggestions, you should fill a 5-gallon bucket (or maybe 2) with the Redmonds Grow and keep in the bed of the side by side. You'll have 2 refills with you for those large pastures.
Good afternoon, folks. Les is here.
There is a damn good reason why your farm was left idle. If that is rocky alluvial soil then it will need huge amounts of TLC to bring it up to cattle grazing fertility. I think you should take the eating elephant approach; one bit at a time. Good luck.
Have y'all thought about mixing alfalfa seed to mix in with your field grass mix? All your animals will love it.
Al that is a tote weather hard plastic or soft, you cut open the fill line. If you grabbed the 4 corners those are called lifting straps attach those to your pallet attachment forks you need to add a clamp so the straps won't slide off. Lifting tote straight up off the pallet you'll find the outlet underneath tied up. Hope this helps
Good morning everyone! AL & Gina & Ms. Olivia. Next beautiful day some drone footage would be beautiful. God bless guy’s
Gooooooooood Morning Doug. We’ll keep that in mind
Good morning Douglas!🌄😊 God bless!
@@forrestgump9576 Good morning Mr. Forrest
@@LumnahAcresI’m going to hold you to that AL. Not Gina lol !
Have a safe fun filled weekend Al,Gina and Olivia.
You should wear a respirator or at least a dust mask, when handling and spreading the Redman's Grow.
Thank you. I ordered 2 bags of product from Redmonds. Saved 7 dollars on a 50 dollar order!
Glad you were able to save some money. Can’t wait to see how the onions in the garden like it
You need to do soil samples for each pasture and map each out to see what fertilizer you need after clearing to help the soil.
I just got the same spreader for my side by side this week. I have a hitch mount on the front of mine side by side which then just allowed me to hook the wires to the keyed on power for my winch controller under my hood. This way the switch is closer and can be placed right in the cab. I can see what the spreader is doing and control the spreader easier. It also helped to even out the load. I was spreading bags of pelletized lime on my pasture. I could place the bags of lime in my bed and with the spreader on the front, I had better weight distribution. I can't tell if your CanAm has a hitch mount in front.
Always take soil samples in different locations on your pasture’s, it’s important to keep the PH in check besides just putting fertilizer down. The best fertilizer for clover is 3-14-42 by far. I only use that on food plots for hunting. Keep up the good work you guys! Looking amazing around the homestead.
I love ALL Lumnah Acres videos!
Enjoyed it. Thank you.
You could have attached one of your cameras to the hop and then you could've seen when it was running low of fertilizer. Good job done though 🎉🎉🎉
Good morning Al, Gina and Olivia. Redman's should get that grass growing good. Those highlands are looking happy. Yes, they like cool weather. Down south they find a pond to stand in if they can. Your climate should be good for them. Enjoyed video, thanks for sharing.
Good morning Gene!🌄😊
@@forrestgump9576 Good morning Forrest. Have a great day.
Gooooooooood Morning Gene. Thanks. I bet they look funny standing in a pond
@@LumnahAcres It just shows they need to stay cool.
Those Bags have a pour spout on the bottom. Just lift it up with your forks off the pallet. You might look at getting a little bit bigger spreader that covers a larger area, less passes and less fuel. Good luck, love the new cattle btw. 😊
Walkie talkies are great! also>>> oats

Good Morning Modern Steaders! Miles and George are so cute.
Gooooooooood Morning Frances. Thanks. They have been. Settling in nicely
Good morning Frances!🌄😊
Howdy Frances!
I can't wait for you guys to go camping & fishing again. In your mini cabin you built.
AL you could always build a plywood box 1/4 inch thick plywood and 1/8 x 2 inch aluminum corners
Then a splice in an on off switch with a long wire on to hang in your cab just a thought .. have a great day
Good job guys❤👍
Al, those bags have an open in the bottom. Put the straps over the forks and lift. Have a drawstring open for easy pour. A little cumbersome but works
Thanks. I’ll have to try that
The opening at the bottom is for dumping the whole bag, I think a lot would end up on the ground.
@davidgetchell3633 They have a valve to stick into the bag, but I can't think of the name. It will open and close.
I love hearing your excitement, details or not!
Good morning! Things look greener already! Miles and Gorge are ready for a livestock show!
Using the small bucket run sum shallow ditches across the pasture to put the run off water into the ground and help feed the grass routes. It should hold and confine the run off and put nutrients in the ditches they will be carried into the soils to feed grass routes. Keep safe and good luck!
Good Morning Gina and Al!! ☕️ 🦋❤️
Goooood afternoon, Al & Gina.
GDay from Perth Ontario Canada. Busy here planting and cleaning things up from winter. My green onions are all 4 inches long and potatoes are just showing their leaves. I am happy.
Hi Al,Gina,Brutus. Nice work onthe pastures Al i think when the better weather comes things will look so good.
As for the rain i think you need to do a dance to relive the water flow.
Take care happy family.
Al, you can easily extend the wire to put a switch in the cab.
Good morning Al and Gina, have a nice day.

Great job
I would splice wires and a switch for that spreader into the cab.
Told him that exact same thing last year, or 2. When he first started using it. Very simple fix.
I agree. Put a connector so you can wrap it up when not using it.
Good morning.
Hi Al, Bill on the Hill here... Check out the Tarter 200 series all metal spreader at TSC in Littleton. It is a 3PH fertilizer spreader with the conventional funnel styled hopper...( retails around $800.00 ) weighs approx 140 lbs.
If you want ' commercial grade ' in this style, look at the KOHL units, cost is over $4000, but you do get a real gearbox filled with 85-90 gear oil...
Looking further down the road & the size of your fields Al & Gina, whatever your choice, the TYM should be the tractor used in this application...
I have a remote switch for my sprayer that I purchased from Tractor Supply and I love it. It will be great for you spreader.
Thank you for sharing !

Good morning Lumnah Acres looking good Al . God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
Three weeks ago Justin Rhodes video "I spent a day with Joel Salatin ( on my farm )" total 2 hr. 38 min. has Joel teaching Justin how to reduce erosion 1 hr 22 min., by Not removing limbs and branches from bare spots on hilly land, but by placing the limbs and branches sideways as erosion control that catches leaves, twigs and earth in place, to eliminate rainfalls wash-out effect, ( rain falls at 120 mph. Force, with ground cover the droplets becomes mist ) and in time the twigs becomes earth, plus water supply lines need buried underground on uphill side to expose not conceal any future leaks !
Also' Joel explains location of thruway areas that should always follow the lands contour, as-in' never climbing ( roadway for farm equipment travel ) up hills by taking the shortest uphill route, ( like the roadway up to secret garden ) reasoning that no amount of land is wasted ( non-farmable ) on sides of any tractor roadways, Joel said consider land as if it was a Producing Cornfield and that that consideration for roadway location relates to go thru the middle, so that no edges are eliminated from being Cornfield, expecially avoid roadways that follow property lines ( when area is not narrow ) !
Of note' Joel says never permanently plan fencing locations or gates, until first having 3 years of that farm lands uses experience, of course some fence and gate locations are predetermined where buildings or obstructions stand !
Note' they also discuss 'Hay Bombing' 49 :00, in pasture that needs grasses, and that's exactly how your doing things on your farm, with animals spreading hay !
New Farmland Development order of Priority Design !
1. Land use = Road Access !
2. Then to Supply = Water !
3. Then to Fence = Control !
Joel also well explains that excavator operators are predisposed to build roadways in hilly terrain where water flows to both sides, or flows away on downhill side, ( the way highways are often built ) whereas if water drains either/or, on hillsides side and with Culverts added where needed, the roads roadway must never have any opportunity for water to erode that causes future maintenance, intervention to repair washouts, but the hillside ditch must be kept operational, never ignored, added benefit is uphill from hillsides ditch, berries can be planted !

Here is a spreader that will work well for you, Vicon SuperFlow PS403 & PS503
Great video
I use that fertilizer spreader from tractor supply, pto driven 3 point hitch, it holds 800 or more pounds. I also use it on food plots that the seed type doesn’t need to be applied by a seed drill, but mainly fertilizer spreader. I think tractor supply brand is county line, I’ve had it a few years.
Good Morning.❤
Hi Al & Gina. What rate of fertilizer are you applying.
Good Morning Al and Gina can't wait to see whats next . Al any plans for a Jamaica Cottage building in the future
I’ve had great luck with the Rondini spreader. The model I have is PTO connected and the hopper holds 500 lbs. I just spread 4 tons of lime pellets in less than 3 hours. Bought 4 years ago for $700.
Gooood morning Lumnah family and friends!🌄😊 Will have to look into the Redmond's soil supplement. Finally bought my first 25lb. bag of Redmond's table salt. I got a thought for you. Those wharves that goes to the switch. Find out what color they are. Get the same colors. Cut it in the middle from the switch to where it goes. Take and add that much wire enough to go for that. Switch to go into the cab. Oh, side by side and then you'll be able to switch it on and off from inside the cab. Just take the switch around to your door and?
Turn it on.
I hope you just get enough rain to help and not hurt. God bless.
Good morning!

Good morning AL
We had a spreader similar to yours on the golf course I worked on, you can rig a cable to the open and close lever and lengthen the wire for your on and off switch so you can control them from the drivers seat, simple fix that saves product and gives you better control on your coverage
Hey Al, have you thought of setting up a reversing camera on the side by side, set up to look into that spreader? You might also rewire the switch with longer wires to give you a switch you can operate from the drivers seat, while you replace the switch. I do enjoy watching your progress updates, thanks for sharing.
