What are your thoughts on the Viper V3 Hyperspeed? Do you have any other questions I didn't answer in the video?

The Viper V3 Hyperspeed is currently my daily driver, love the shape and I don't mind the forward position sensor as much as I was afraid initially.
Using it with AAA alkaline + rechargable Ni-Mh batteries and the weight is nice enough, not too light or too heavy either.
Appreciate the rundown! I'm glad you are enjoying it. I still think the forward sensor position throws me off. Weight is totally acceptable with your recommendation.
Out of curiosity is your base straight on a hard surface?

My mouse wobbles when on a hard flat surface. Either from the PTFE or plastic not being straight. I was curious if yours had the same problem?

great review, love the positive note at the end! maybe it's just because it's coming out in razers "budget" line but a lot of the other reviews for this one seem to majorly gloss over just how big of a deal this mouse's strong points are and instead focus heavily on critiquing the battery/weight, but aside from those things it's an absolute banger. it has no right being this good at the price they're putting it out at.
I actually like the replaceable battery, it's the one thing i miss from my old g305(i could get a couple months off a single AA in that thing!). being able to quickly swap out for a full charge when you run low instead of having to plug in is great, id bet even more so now in these days of extreme polling rates. razer just updated all hyper polling compatible mice to work up to 8khz, 4khz is already tough on my dav3 battery!
the weights also not too bad considering you can get it down to 68 grams, just 3-4 grams more than the dav3. if you'd like the mouse to be a bit less back heavy maybe try out using a ball of tin foil towards the back battery contact to adapt the triple A instead of using a purpose made adapter. i dont own one of these yet but thats the method that felt best to me with my g305.
def gonna pick one of these up, using a dav3 right now despite not liking the shape just because the sensor is so great and i found it more tolerable than the viper v2 pro. ive been waiting ages for a mouse that has; a shape somewhere in the middle of the dav3 and viper with a rear hump, a forward sensor, mech switches, and performance that matches what razers been putting out. i figured id have to wait until razers exclusivity on the 3950 ran out, but this mouse checks every box! they nailed it with this one!
I thought the same thing. I felt reviews were focusing on the wrong aspects of this mouse. But that’s why I made my own CZcams channel so I could try and offer a different perspective. Don’t always succeed at that. But it is what I strive for.
I agree being able to swap out from a low battery to a full battery in seconds is always great. Maybe someday they’ll come out with a mouse that you can swap rechargeable batteries that come in your typical higher tier wireless mouse. Kind of like the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro or Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. That would be neat as long as it didn’t kill other positive aspects like weight and balance. Granted you can get rechargeable AA. But the whole weight thing. And yes, with the higher polling rates I do find myself charging my wireless mice A LOT more than I used to. But I’ll take the trade as I find those higher hertz make a noticeable difference.

Based on the things you just listed and the fact you don’t mind the battery or forward sensor position this just may be your near goldilocks mouse. I would love to hear your thoughts on it once you get it in and try it out!

@@ThomasMuehler Finally got a chance to pick one up! Overall I think it's a great mouse, right off the bat I was performing much better with it and felt much more in control than I have even after months with my deathadder v3. Feels way more solid as well, seems like razer's really dialed in their build quality for this new design language. Although I had the same issue as you with the mouse not sitting flat. It seems like the skate around the sensor might be a little thicker/sitting a bit higher than the skates they used at the top and bottom of the mouse, leading to that sort of chair with uneven legs feeling. But aside from that the mouse completely lived up to my expectations.
Unfortunately though I ended up having some pretty bad wrist pain after just a couple hours playing with it, which is a shame since it's such a joy to use otherwise. I half expected that though trying out such a narrow mouse with my 12cm wide hands and existing wrist problems. A few years ago I bet it would have been no problem but for the sake of my wrist it's going back and I guess it's gonna be ergos for me from here on out haha
A hot-swapable battery pack would be sweet. With all the innovations in weight reduction and so many strong new brands joining the market, I wouldn't be surprised if we see one give that idea a go to stand out and they land it somewhere around 60g. We've already seen adjustable sensor positions and hot-swapable switches, an external battery system doesn't seem like it'd be a stretch!
I’m glad that you were enjoying it. But that is unfortunate about it hurting your wrist. Also, frustrating that you go the lopsided chair. Crazy that is a thing. I would be very interesting to see a hot-swappable battery pack. But I don’t know if I ever see that happening on a mouse. At least not a lightweight one. As I’d imagine that contraption would add too much weight by itself. But I’ll leave that to the smart engineers out there to figure out. @@free_microwave
I ordered mine on launch day and love it. The shape is much better than expected. I'd use it as my main if it had a normal sensor placement. I find it throws me off being so high. Hopefully they release a Pro version with a normal location soon. The price and build quality are fantastic.

When you said lopsided, is the back of the base tilt downward (uneven base) so the mouse is rocking left to right a bit? My dav3 pro has this problem too
Yes, that is what I meant. I didn't know the DAV3 Pro had the same problem?! Both of my DAV3 Pro don't have that problem (or any of my other Razer mice). That's very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
What about feel in a palm? My wireless mamba started to doubleclikck and I’m thinking of a new mouse. Any opinion on the feel in a hand?
Found the ROG keris aimpoint on sale for $60 and it beats this out pretty easily. They built it for easy disassembly and have hot-swap switches. It has a rechargable battery with type c at the front and bluetooth with dongle connection available. I think this v3 hyperspeed will be an interesting option on sale but it's not too bad at 70.
I checked out the ROG Keris Aimpoint WIreless. It does look like a solid mouse and a good option. Especially on sale (which I see for $79.99 right now). But with it retailing at $99 over $70 I would expect the USB-C and built-in battery. Bluetooth is a nice touch as are the swappable switches. Weight is essentially a wash. It does have RGB which is always nice. And comes with griptape. So I think it competes well overall. Unsure about shape as I haven't tried it. What are your thoughts on it?
But personally, I still find the Viper V3 Hyperspeed to be technically superior. As you have the Focus Pro sensor which is better than the ROG AimPoint Optical Sensor and supports 4,000 Hz polling. Along with having Razer's firmware and wireless tech which is arguably the best in the business. If we were to discount the V3 Hyperspeed with however much this is discounted I still think it would be the better buy from a technical standpoint. But from a wholistic standpoint it would be hard to pass this one up! Thanks for the recommendation.
I had that before I bought the v3 hs after returning the keris. The mouse was way too small to be an ergo and I just couldn’t find a proper grip and my hands aren’t that big. I also didn’t like the texture on the mouse buttons, they felt low quality and I’m pretty sure the texture glued on like a sticker. You could see the separation between the plastic and the top layer.
And the RGB is completely useless just adds extra cost

I have had almost every flagship mouse, finally settling on the Vaxee NP-01S wireless, but I took this for a spin for a week, and Razer really has a good offering here. I love the modified Viper shape and the coating is really good as far as Razer coatings go. I did the AAA battery mod and my scale showed 68g. This mouse is going to sell like hotcakes. If the NP-01S was not perfect for me in every way this is the mouse I would get until they make the Viper V3 Pro version. I had two copies of the GPX2 and BOTH of them had loose batteries rattling around inside right out of the box.
Side note, I like your daily lesson. I was raised Catholic my entire life, and while I am no longer religious, I always found the lessons of being present and appreciative to be the most valuable and comforting part of religion.
I haven't tried the Vaxee NP-01S. I've heard good things. It looks to be quite an interesting shape, specifically the side bump on the right side. I'm not sure if I would like that or not. I should definitely try it out. It has some interesting features as well.
That is pretty wild about the GPX 2 having loose batteries out of the box! Especially, two in a row. Sounds like me and the lopsided base on this guy. Did you happen to test for that with yours on a hard surface? Just out of curiosity?

I have this mouse and have mid sized hands with a palm grip and it is super comfortable compared to any other mouse’s I’ve use. Also has very good tracking at least for me.
I think you fit squarely in the target demographic! Thanks for sharing your experiences. Absolutely agree very good tracking performance. As the sensor itself is the best on the market (that I'm aware of). So any performance issues I was having come from personal issues.
so i got mine today but used it for several hours and went back to the v2 pro to compare it at times and here are my thoughts. Not including the Viper Mini SE, because it's almost never available besides at certain times, this is the best release that Razer has come out with in my opinion. i use mine on 4k hertz personally even though i'm able to use it at 8k. my tracking is getting used to this and i need more time with this and i used to use the Cobra Pro before this mouse because of the size and shape but this mouse has replaced it and i use a lithium AA battery in mine and i don't feel a weight difference in my testing. the sensor positioning is the main thing taking time to get used to the most cause of all the other mice and their sensor being in the middle rather than towards the front of the mouse. another thing i noticed is that the PTFE feet on the bottom of the V3 hyperspeed are way thicker than every other mouse I've ever used with pfte feet on the bottom of it and they glide like butter on my glass mousepad. i do recommend people trying it if it seems like it'll work for them but if they don't think it's for them then they shoukd stick with what works for them personally

Totally agree with what you're saying. I think they knocked it out of the park with this one. Assuming 1. you don't have a lopsided base. 2. You can stand the front sensor position. 3. Are okay with a removeable battery. As for the price to performance I think it would be exceedingly hard to beat. As it comes with top-tier specs and a wonderful new shape.
@ThomasMuehler I always love giving my opinions on gaming peripherals that I like and see myself using for a long time until I need something new. I do agree that it will be exceedingly hard to beat this for the price. I don't find the more front sensor a big deal honestly. I'm already used to it and I've only been using the mouse for a few days

I can't tell if the reason why my aim is just off with that mouse is the front sensor or the battery. But something is preventing me to aim at my full potential with it. But I still find it to be an incredible mouse.
Where do you get the Razer cable for 4k dongle?
@@razleftw mine came with the 4k dongle that I got at a local Razer store at the time. I believe some of the other cables from their other mice can be used to plug into it as well

I haven't heard anything about a white variant. But if one were to come out I would assume it would be the same price. As I don't think Razer (except for special edition colors) have ever charged extra for color.
great review but I dislike the battery as someone already stated I would say though if something ever happened to my viper ultimate I would probably be inclined to get one of these for a backup.
Yeah, I almost wish it would be a bit more expensive and came with a rechargeable battery. As from what I'm reading from my comment section and online in general I think the external battery is going to be the nail in coffin for this guy. But at the same time know the Orochi and G305 are still wildly popular.

Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed. Better internals. Also, I think weight. Arguably better shape. But shape is mostly personal preference which is what makes that one hard. But if I had a choice I'd pick the Viper V3 Hyperspeed 10/10 times.
I recently bought the Viper V3 HyperSpeed Yesterday, the performance was quite good in my opinion, it was super lightweight and pretty short, but its the opposite for appearance, it looked good in the shop when I tested it, but after the day of just gaming, the mouse already had my sweat stains on it, the mouse I bought was from TMT, is it the mouse having bad cleaning properties or is it because of the poor quality in the shop? or is it because I sweat too much? Choose one that you think that might be the cause of my mouse being stained in 1 day.
A. mouse has bad quality
B. Shop had poor quality of making the mouse
C. I sweat too much
I think BadSeedTech explains this well in his Review of the Viper V3 Pro and says it more eloquently than I will. I'd need to find my V3 Hyperspeed. Not sure if the coating is the same. But close if memory is correct.
Basically, pros tested a bunch of different coatings and then chose their favorite one. Which is what is on this guy. In life, sometimes you can't have everything you want and have to make a trade. In this case a grippy good feeling coating that performs well, doesn't look good. As that is a direct relation. To get the grip, it can't repel fingerprints. Therefore, it feels good, but looks terrible. In general if you look at the GPX (similar coating) it doesn't look good. Or a lot of grippy products. As the chemical nature involved kind of leads to that.
A. Bad quality. No, the opposite actually. But depends on your perspective. If looks are the only thing that matters. Then yes. Bad quality. If performance/feel is your main thing. Then great quality.
B. Shop. No, I don't think so.
C. I think is related. As those who sweat more are going to leave more stains than those who don't. And is likely making the situation worse for you than it would for other people. But isn't the sole factor.

Hard call honestly. If you're talking Superlight 2 then that wins. But Superlight 1 harder.
SUPERLIGHT:
PROS:
- Safe amazing shape. But the shape for the V3 is excellent as well. So this is nearly a wash.
- Center sensor position. Compared to front sensor position.
- Great feeling clicks. But equal to V3. Wash.
- Good weight. Superior to V3.
- Does not require AA battery or adapter for AAA. Superior to V3.
- Is probably the best selling mouse ever. Which means it does a ton of things right.
CONS:
- Meh scroll wheel.
- Meh side buttons.
- Bad PTFE feet. Likely will require third party which is added expense.
- Micro-USB charging.
V3 Pro:
PROS:
- GOAT sensor. Much better than HERO.
- Supports 4,000/8,000 Hz polling.
- Fantastic shape.
- Great clicks
- Great coating (tie again with Superlight).
- Great side buttons. Better than Superlight.
- Great scroll wheel. Better than Superlight.
- Great PTFE Feet.
CONS:
- Front sensor position is hit or miss for people.
- battery throws off weight balance a bit and generalized feel. Along with increasing weight. But can be quick swapped for always wireless battery.
After going through that I would go with the V3 Hyperspeed. But that is my preference and may not be yours. Or go with which pros/cons are best for you. If the Superlight is on a great sale for Black Friday and you have the funds. Pick up both. Try them out and return the one that doesn't work the best for you.

great review. My thoughts are after the not so consensual (at all) results of the mini viper being replaced by a cobra with high weight, rgb, and docking charging, none of these features expected nowadays in "pro" mice (my and many others lamzu atlantis mini pro - able of 4000hz polling rate - do come in a variety of colors and vibrant colors which, rumor or truth, are on purpose to avoid and substitute rgb to those liking more "boring" mice") really had a toll on razer fans and not only. The mouse was seen as a failure by the majority, although equipped the highest tech available on market at these time (the hero 2 is also a bombshell and it smashes in many aspects - including 32k dpi - even if with "only" max 2000hz polling rate and 650ips against the 750ips of the Focus Pro 30k and an outdated shell look - still, on my top 5 mice with 3 razer on it, and I'm an almost an unique case which includes the cobra pro with all the rgb off by force of software, but still the weight is there and I guess some unbalancing from front to back, and the lamzu Thorn wireless superlight, which comes with, IMO, better ergo than even the DAV3PRO - great sensor, but not the focus pro or hero 2, and also tremendous optical switches, in sum an excelent high end product - can't say the same regarding the atlantis mini pro wireless, as I love the shape and size - reminds me of the cobra pro but much lighter - still the primary two buttons are not as good as the others mentioned, and I hope I didn't get a faulty mouse... or maybe I want if I'm alone making this statement). Coatings are a tough territory, has I do prefer the coating of a Viper 2 pro, DAV3Pro, which are more chalky than those of the Logitech pro X superlight 2 or the DAV3pro in it's Faker Edition, because rubberized coats make my palms start sweating very fast opposite to the forementioned and, say, the ones on both Lamzu Thorn superlight and Atlantis mini pro, which are at the point for me as user. If my palms become sweaty because of the rubber (it grips better, does not allow on the other hand for your hand skin to breath normally - if I needed rubber I would use the ones most mice bring as extra to glue on buttons and side grips, surely not so aggressive in not allowing your skin to breath properly, and they not cover all mouse surface, not even close - other thing I remember disliking on the cobra, the default rubber side grips, another huge mistake. So I do think Razer used this time a budget price mouse to do their tests. To finish, still I don't have and will never will - I don't play with mice with batteries since two decades ago, or at least 15 years, not even my logis MX518 or G5, but again they were corded... still very old mice, one of which, the mx-518, logitech tried to bring it back with new specs and a light facelift not long ago but was a flop (use and discard is something most enterprises should already have integrated in all services/products as much as possible - but still I do like the way razer is going with this new viper in terms of ergo and I expect to soon have one in a pro config (viper v3 pro?) but with a little bit more like, say, 8000hz polling rate in a wireless mice - otherwise, with no tech but "just" ergo adjustments we would not really, as you say in a previous video comparing the x pro and x pro 2, it would just be a refining and not a real upgrade. One last consideration, regarding sensor position razer is not groundbreaking anything, at least for now - they may improve the tech behind it but it's too soon to say, as other mice already use a more forward and not centered position of the sensor; there's eve a brand, I saw the video one that mouse but I just don't remember what was it..., with an integrated rail which would let you adjust how forward or centered you wanted your sensor to be, amazingly without any major interference on the mouse total weight (it was, if I remember correctly, on the weight scope on currently considered real "pro" mice). Sorry for the long text, but the video clearly asks for some questions and expectations. Cheers. Again, great video.
The Cobra Pro is on sale, and I’m so tempted to buy it. But money is so tight right now. But a big part of that is due to you. Lol.
Agree, the GPX 2 really has grown on me as it almost appears to be getting better in time and is in my Top 5 right now. The GPX 1 was taken off my desk a long time ago. But I don’t think the GPX 2 is getting taken off any time soon.
Agree that coating is a tough territory. I would agree that my hand sweats more on the rubberized coating over the PBT of the Razer. But wonder to a certain point if the reason they go with the rubber coating is because so many people “appear” to be using grips these days. I say appear as I’m not convinced that has become all that mainstream. But could be wrong.
Definitely agree that this mouse does seem like a test product. As there is little risk with a lot to gain and think you nailed it on that one.
I’d be shocked if the Viper V3 Pro didn’t have the same shape. But looking at their release dates I don’t think we’ll see it anytime soon. I’d be shocked if it were this year. At the earliest I would think Q2 or Q3 of 2024. I’d also expect at least 8,000 Hz and a few other upgrades to help justify the difference between the HyperSpeed and Pro variant.
Yes, absolutely right. Nothing groundbreaking about sensor position. Hopefully, I didn’t come across as this is something unique to Razer. Moreso, that you just don’t see it as often. But plenty of mice use a more forward or backward sensor position. And I know what you’re talking about. I’ve seen a few mice (or maybe it really was just one) that had adjustable sensor position via a rail. Which looked interesting.
Also, never mind your long texts! I always enjoy reading them and getting your perspective on things. If I could ask for one thing though, I would love at least some paragraphs. Lol

I remember quite well you got the viper mini SE. well, my two cents goes this way: there's nothing the cobra pro can do that the SE can't do better. Or so it's like it seems to me, as I really did refuse to pay 300€ (just the mouse) here in Europe. Not looking for Rolex mice :)

No, looks like some people were able to get their hands on the “Pro” version from some type of goof from someone at a store. But it hasn’t been officially released yet which is why you don’t see it anywhere and can’t buy it. Which comes with some upgrades of the “Hyperspeed” version which is in this video. For Razer the “Hyperspeed” is mostly the affordable version lets say. That has a bit less bells and whistles. Where the “Pro” has all the bells and whistles and is quite expensive. But the Viper V3 Pro has not been officially released yet. But obviously since people have copies it will be coming out very soon. From the little I’ve seen looks to have a slightly improved sensor. But unless if I’m missing something not worthy of upgrading for that alone. Comes with the 8K dongle. And the sensor position is centered instead of near the top. Additionally, I’d expect better weight distribution. And it comes with optical instead of mechanical switches. And of course the new shape. Which I think people are going to like a lot more than the OG Viper shape. Making it more competitive with the GPX from a comfort point of view. As I already think Razer is doing a much better job than Logitech in all the other areas. But thats my opinion.

Valid call out. Yes, I was able to do it.
1. But 98% of the time I use my nail to turn it on and off because it is much simpler. And I'd imagine most people will do it that way as well. As Much more difficult than say the GPX which has a great on/off switch pressure.
2. You can see me death squeezing it in order for that to work so that I can capture it while holding the camera.

@@TheRealJovaYT So, yes the GPX on/off is going to be like the G305. Which I think is brilliant. This one is going to be A LOT more stiff and will not operate the same.

Totally get that. I’m pretty much in the same boat.
I came very close to buying this mouse and am glad I did not.
Having previous experience with the g305 with its ugly weight distribution because of the battery that forces grip on the back of the mouse to combat the battery weight and the mechanical switches that are bound to double click at some point, Razer viper v3 is just a setup for failure. You'll be combating the weight distribution on the back of the mouse with a sensor placed high on the mouse, mechanical switches are bound to eventually double click and by then you might aswell just buy something solid cause ull end up paying more in the long run for a fully functional mouse.
Ended up going for the Pulsar X2-V2, optical switches, 100hours internal battery, wireless & wired option, 53 grams, more to pay upfront but in a year time it'll turn out to be the cheapest option and the best quality of them both.

@@ThomasMuehler It's great, instant natural fit. I am into small mouses with an ambidextrous shape, relatively speaking since I have 21x11 hands the medium x2v2 serves as a small mouse for me.
The only part of the mouse which is requiring some to get used to, is the optical switches are stiffer than the mechanical switches I am used to very so lightly click down.
For anybody who cares, x2v2 from experience seems to be using 10% of battery a day from heavy unemployed daytime use

@@ThomasMuehler Cheers mate, to do my opinion justice, it is worth mentioning, the clicks, especially my left has some noticeable pre-travel it kind of snaps on the first click if the mouse has been laying around with no use. Right click does have pre-travel aswell, but very negliable.
If it wasn't for that battery I would have kept it...
I totally get it. I want to love it. But I think between the sensor position and battery it makes it a no go for me. Despite them knocking literally everything else out of the park (in my opinion).

@@connorswaven I'm with you. I can't do a wired mouse these days. And depending on the mouse, the wireless one could actually be better than wired.
@@Maddog-xc2zv I will admit that a lot of mice in this price range use batteries. And almost all the wireless mouse in the office I work at take AA or AAA batteries.
