I been trying to get out of this habit after switching from Android to iOS a few months ago. The battery has been better
The app switcher is one of the most common ways I navigate on the phone, so I'm diligent about quitting apps from an organization standpoint...I don't want an app I'm not currently/soon using cluttering up my "list" of choices when switching. But there are 2-3 that are almost always open and never quit. But I start getting annoyed when there's more than like 5 in the switcher so unless it's really killing my phone I'm going to keep quitting. 🤣
I get it! Hard habit to break or change for sure.
Enjoyed your video, really useful information .... thanks
Great video! Your channel should have a bigger audience, keep up the good work!
super helpful - thank you
Bro… I constantly do this! Thanks for the great tip!
Very helpful. Thank You. I will share this video
You’re quickly becoming one of my favorite CZcamsrs. Keep up the good work! Thanks for helping us all out
So appreciate that 🙏 thanks for saying so
i have to do this especially at night i don’t want any app just open like that when i’m not using them phone i have been doing this to all my phones and my battery life is great so it’s all depend how u use your phone
How to clear unused or obsolete apps off iPhone ?Also I notice if I don’t clear off background apps like Tagged or Twitter or Face make phone lag and buffering.
Great video
I have been championing this since iOS4 and over the past decade and a half have shared with countless people to stop force quitting. This is probably due to my iPhone X being so old but this is no longer true for me. The few apps that iOS does leave running dramatically slows down my phone. It's a night and day difference soon as I force quit those still-running apps.
Great video, Stephen!
Thanks Alban!
I only force close apps if it is running in the background, I’ve also had apps in the background basically cause my battery to drain really fast. Other than that I’ll leave all my apps in the roller and access when I need to. Good video good job like always, like to watch what you create.
Thanks, appreciate that!
Thanks!
You bet!
I always swipe up any game apps I have to be sure they are not exploiting the system. The rest, I leave them suspended in the background.
Ok, been doing the swiping for…an eternity 🤣 great video thanks
Haha thanks!
Such a hard habit to break but I trust the bearded teacher 👨🏻🏫
😂 you won’t regret it!
Vindication!! Lol My daughter constantly nags me about keeping app windows open. Sharing ➡️
Haha thanks!
So what about when it's a banking app and you're not gonna use it for over a week or so or an app you used a month ago that just received an update? Should you still let it be there in the recent apps menu?
Sure, why not? Those apps aren’t actually using any resources on your phone except for a screenshot of the last time you used it to show in the app switcher, and those use very little memory.
What about driving apps that use GPS long after driving is done?
So if I see an app pinging my location in the Dynamic Island even after I'm "done with it," I manually quit it. Chipotle and other food apps are notorious for that too
Thank you ❤️
Is it the same for galaxy s series phones?
I would think so. Unless there's a rogue app access your location in the background that needs to be quit.
But, what if I am done using the app? Doesn't it make sense to close an app when finished using it?
No, better to leave it open and let the system freeze it.
so what's wearing down the battery/
Apps that run in the background, or you using your phone all day!
When gaming ?
I mean…I can understand why but iOS should still manage the process when you swipe to go home
I do this all the time. It is a habit by now. I’ve tried to stop…lol
It’s not easy for sure!
What kind of app would play a dirty trick like that? It shall remain Faceless, errr nameless …
Yes, but not after this video!
Good call!
Dad. Ok I got it. I know you were looking at me…..
😂 and lots of others!
Call me paranoid, but I can’t trust Chinese apps or Meta apps or any Google app running in the background or even background app refresh, for both privacy and battery drain wise.
Well you can turn off background app refresh for everything and they would be stopped anytime you swipe home. Swiping the app up wouldn’t change anything.
Wow, this says a lot about computer users. Nope, thanks for all the fish. I’ll keep my boards clean. Apple wants to see my usage list while I sleep? Sounds creepy to me.
I could never do this because i used a android
This mostly applies to Android as well. Whether I was using iOS or Android I used to clear all apps just like everyone does, but I stopped doing that several years ago and have noticed little to no difference in performance and battery life on both iOS and Android.
Mmmmm they lie , for hidden something esle, it seem that they are late on this option like they where late on Cancel the call, you have to wait for the caller to end, Or tell now There is No Calculater in ipad that cost 800$$ they really do stupid thing
but iphone users never do the scientific method
