    I been trying to get out of this habit after switching from Android to iOS a few months ago. The battery has been better

    The app switcher is one of the most common ways I navigate on the phone, so I'm diligent about quitting apps from an organization standpoint...I don't want an app I'm not currently/soon using cluttering up my "list" of choices when switching. But there are 2-3 that are almost always open and never quit. But I start getting annoyed when there's more than like 5 in the switcher so unless it's really killing my phone I'm going to keep quitting. 🤣

    I have been championing this since iOS4 and over the past decade and a half have shared with countless people to stop force quitting. This is probably due to my iPhone X being so old but this is no longer true for me. The few apps that iOS does leave running dramatically slows down my phone. It's a night and day difference soon as I force quit those still-running apps.

    I only force close apps if it is running in the background, I’ve also had apps in the background basically cause my battery to drain really fast. Other than that I’ll leave all my apps in the roller and access when I need to. Good video good job like always, like to watch what you create.

    I always swipe up any game apps I have to be sure they are not exploiting the system. The rest, I leave them suspended in the background.

    So what about when it's a banking app and you're not gonna use it for over a week or so or an app you used a month ago that just received an update? Should you still let it be there in the recent apps menu?

    • @Sashazur
      @Sashazur Před měsícem

      Sure, why not? Those apps aren’t actually using any resources on your phone except for a screenshot of the last time you used it to show in the app switcher, and those use very little memory.

    What about driving apps that use GPS long after driving is done?

    • @beardfm
      @beardfm  Před 6 měsíci +1

      So if I see an app pinging my location in the Dynamic Island even after I'm "done with it," I manually quit it. Chipotle and other food apps are notorious for that too

    • @beardfm
      @beardfm  Před 5 měsíci +2

      I would think so. Unless there's a rogue app access your location in the background that needs to be quit.

  • @christianespaillat9714

    But, what if I am done using the app? Doesn't it make sense to close an app when finished using it?

    • @beardfm
      @beardfm  Před 5 měsíci +1

      No, better to leave it open and let the system freeze it.

    Call me paranoid, but I can’t trust Chinese apps or Meta apps or any Google app running in the background or even background app refresh, for both privacy and battery drain wise.

    • @beardfm
      @beardfm  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Well you can turn off background app refresh for everything and they would be stopped anytime you swipe home. Swiping the app up wouldn’t change anything.

    • @DJBla2e01
      @DJBla2e01 Před 10 dny

      This mostly applies to Android as well. Whether I was using iOS or Android I used to clear all apps just like everyone does, but I stopped doing that several years ago and have noticed little to no difference in performance and battery life on both iOS and Android.
