  • Kayak Fishing Tips for beginners. We run through 10 key kayak fishing tips for beginners. Detailing important safety and fishing ideas. We then hit the water and find ourselves in a massive bust up and the fishing turns into complete Salmon Chaos. kayak fishing australia
    The team at FishingMad received many messages requesting advice about getting into kayak fishing. I met up with Ryan Kang this week who just purchased a Malibu kayak and wanted to help him get started with his own kayak fishing journey.
    I walk Ryan through kayak fishing tips for beginners, but when we hit the water things turn chaotic as we ran into a massive school of salmon & landed some big flathead. A must watch for all local anglers and those interested in getting into Kayak fishing. Don’t forget to subscribe.

    My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. czcams.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

    In New Zealand the "salmon" you were catching are commonly known as Kahawai in nz and actually grow quite a lot bigger than the ones you were catching in your video here,that being said this was a awesome video man and keep it up!👍🏼

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks Troy. Yeah here we call them Australian Salmon. In Victoria where i am they dont grow much bigger then 55cm. In other states in Aus like WA they certainly get bigger and certainly in NZ much bigger. Some great fishing in NZ, id love to get up there soon for a fish.

      Thank you John. Yeah I agree 100% the salmon fishing in NZ would be amazing. I have seen the size they get too. The Australian salmon is a lot smaller but gee they fight hard. I got excited on this vid as I was using 2-4 kilo rod and very light line and they were often taking plastics on the surface which is such a fun way of fishing.

I couldn't wear shoes for a week and had to take a few days of work, since then I wear 2 UV shields, long pants, UV long sleeve shirt, shoes and UV gloves to avoid getting burnt. Ill prob put a video together soon of what I do. Yep sunburn really sucks take it easy for a few days, drink plenty of fluids and maybe get some alovera gel which really helps.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před 5 lety

      Thank you for the positive comments !!. For many anglers its now becoming a tough choice boat or kayak, even jet ski in some instances. Kayaks can be great fun and have several advantages. Easy to launch once you know some spots, lots of people are into kayak fishing now, low running costs, 180 degree fishing at all times, so many accessories, good form of exercise, and great for the bay, lakes and estuaries in the right conditions. There are some downsides but for most part they are great. Especially if you have a decent kayak. The last 8 months I haven't had a kayak as I was trying to mix up the content producing some boating and jet ski vids as well. Glad to say I got a kayak a few weeks ago and will be releasing more kayak content very soon. I hope that helps, best regards Al

Were starting to cover in depth how to stuff like this in our member area so that might be worth having a look at fishingmad.com.au/member ( member driven topics and workshops, with a big emphasis on kayak fishing and lures/plastics lots of content in progress ). A lot of the control when fishing on your yak has to do with the conditions and the kayak your using. High end kayaks with foot peddles and rudders allow you to fish seamlessly without the need to keep paddling or straitening up, those with entry level kayaks it all comes with experience out on the water getting familiar with which was the wind, swell is moving and casting in the direction so the line and lure works against the current and stops the lines from tangling or going under the yak.

      Hey Andrew, Thankfully I haven't had to many scary situations out there yet. I guess sharks are just a part of fishing in our local waters. I generally make sure that im out with others so we can help each other if something does go wrong. I also don't venture out to far so i can return back to shore pretty quickly. There was a cool video released a few weeks back of a massive grey white casually circling some kayakers. It didn't harm them but that would be very scary. Im always very cauitous of other things out there too such as stingrays, snook etc anything with shark teeth or spikes. Just go slow, and go out with experienced kayaers until your feeling confident. I hope this helps.

    Great vid, but please stop using and recommending inflatable lifejackets for kayaking!! They are simply dangerous!! Imagine it's a bit rough and you tip over. If you have an auto inflate (most people don't even know if they do!) you need to deflate your lifejacket to climb back into the kayak, then for the rest of the day, you no longer have a lifejacket that will work without manually blowing up!! Even if you have a manual (pull cord), it is not an actual lifejacket until you inflate it, and then once deflated, again you no longer have a usable lifejacket.
    Wear kayak or sailing style PFD2 or 3's because it could save your life

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  Před 5 lety

      Hey Ben, thanks for your suggestions. That's a really interesting point of view on the inflatable PFD's the need to deflate them once they auto inflate. A really good tip, so thank you. I certainly appreciate where your coming from with those comments. i have rescued quite a few other kayakers in the bay over the last 12 months and was really surprised that several of them had no life jacket at all. The point i was trying to get across was at a minimum never go out in bad weather, if your inexperienced and without a life jacket. At least of those guys i rescued had a life jacket they were reasonably close to shore and could have come back in.

    • @stever285
      @stever285 Před 2 lety

      I use a pull cord inflatable life jacket, the only time I would consider it dangerous is in the event I get knocked out, otherwise it's there for emergencies and it serves it's purpose. Most often if I go into the water I'm not going to inflate the jacket, I can swim, I'd only use the jacket if I was hurt or became separated from my boat. I have to admit I've never tried re-entry with an inflated jacket, although I imagine if it wasn't possible, I'd take the jacket off temporarily rather than deflating it that way I could still use it for the trip back.
