This is fantastic! Thank you so much! And you are so kind to answer so many questions in the comments!
Aw thank you! Thanks for watching :)
I absolutely love your channel! You explain everything so clearly! Looking forward to a video about your shipping and packing process 🤍
Thank you so much. My packing video should be up today! :)
This is something I could easily get into. Also, I appreciate the reminder near the end about how the color as you unmold won't be the same when the concrete fully dries. There's a lesson to be learned there beyond making concrete jars. Love, love, love your content. Subscribed.
Thank you so much for watching! 🤍
I have a large bucket in my garden that I wash all of my molds and mixing bowls in. Then empty the bucket when it gets about half full with sediment, which I tip out in the garden. Once it dries I use it for drainage for my plant pots.
Always love your videos, thank you for sharing. Love the outcome of your leaf and soap dish molds as well as your candle molds, Very nice!
Thank you so much, Deb! 🤍
Thank you so much for sharing those tips for us.
If you don't have an outside hose, use a spatula to scrape out as much as possible, fill the bowl half way with hot water and use an old kitchen sponge to clean as you pour this small amount of water & cement into dirt, rock mulch (it sinks into the dirt) or a public drain. I checked with my city & they said concrete contractors do this on every job.
These turned out so pretty!
Great tutorial. Thank you for this!
Without typing a book, I really enjoy your videos especially the ones where Colette makes a feature. You are the most thorough. I’ll let you know how things turn out when I decide to dive in. Love your work!🥰
Thank you so much! My favorites are when Colette is in them too! Lol.

Wow ......☆☆☆☆☆♡♡♡ so happy I came across your video
Thanks for the content it informative
You are AMAZING!! I just found you last night and I’m blown away. I couldn’t sleep because I was dreaming about making these containers. The wholesale search for concrete candle vessels stops here.
THANK YOU💕

Thanks so much!
Agreed!!! Minnette’s Candles will be making her own vessels thanks to Bree!!🙏🏼🙌🏼💪🏼
Same, it's jsut a lot
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I'm so happy I found your channel. Can you make a video on how you prepare your candles for shipping.
Yes! I have had a few people ask so I’m planning on filming that this week
i swear jesus himself sent this video for me!!! thank you! thank you! thank you!
You are so funny man😂😂
very nice jars
Nice! Tyvm. Blessings.
I absolutely LOVE your videos! Have you experienced HT issues with your concrete vessels?
Thank you so much! No, I can’t say I’ve experienced that
Awesome video really excellent
Thank you! I appreciate it :)
Yayyeeeeee
The leaves are amazing. If I can “get it together “ 🙄, I want to make a rhubarb cement leaf for a water dish for critters. The deer, and night creatures used to drink from the doggie pool.
That’s an excellent idea! “Night creatures” 😂 I love that
Bravo pour vos tutos! j'aimerai savoir où puis-je trouver vos moules bleus? Merci beaucoup.
I love your channel 😊
I have watched almost all of your videos & really appreciate you sharing your knowledge 🙏🏾
I am just starting out & I am slightly confused about the concrete mix! I've read up on what needs mixing together and I was under the impression that sand needs to be mixed in with the concrete?
Could you please advise on what is the easiest & most cost-effective way for a perfect mix?
I'm in the UK and I've been looking at the blue circle snowcrete, but not sure if white sand & which white sand should be added!
I did a test run with some moulds & used 4 parts concrete & 6 parts sand 😅 they turned out solid with a few air bubbles 🫧 but I'm not sure I did the mix right! It's going to take practice!
Thank you so much for watching! The product that I use is cement premixed with fine sand. I am not the most keen on formulas. I would suggest checking out UpVibe here on CZcams. Jai has amazing videos with lots of other formulas besides just what I use (cement-all).
Love it!
May I ask what kind of cement do you use, is it a mixed cement?
Hey there! I use cement-all, which is cement + fine sand.
Thanks so much for your videos ! Wondering...do you seal your soap dish ?
After this video, I have yet to revisit the soap dish! haha! The sealer I use for everything else is water-based, so I figured it wouldn't last long on the soap dish.
do you use any sealer after it?
Did you put colorant in the leaves? Thank you
Have you thought about swirling in some green metallic paint for the monstera leaves? I bet it would look fun.
Girl…your comments are 🔥!! You have so many great ideas!
@@calafiacandleco your videos inspired me!!!
Thank you for this informative and easy to follow video! Wondering what height your mold is, thank you!
It’s 3” tall
Love thse projects! Would love to know if a seal is required for the soap dishes? 🥰
You know, that is a great question and part of the reason I gave up on the soap dishes haha! With them constantly getting wet, I wasn't sure what sealer would work best and not wear off. I never really revisited them after this video.
Love love! With respect to the black oxide getting on your hands, do you wash the vessels then? Thanks!!
Thank you! I do not. When you unmold them, they are still damp and not fully dried. Once they dry it shouldn’t transfer.
I just felt in love over here in Prague with your videos and decided to change my life and start concrete candle bussines :). I have seen so many videos but you are definetly the best inspiration. I just would like to ask you how long does it take to dry the candle pot? Especially the one with pigment. We do not have the Cement All over here so I mix Portland and sand and it takes almost 15 hours to safely unmold them. Those with the pigment even longer..and they get more fragile also. Thank you!!! :)❤
Aw thank you!! I typically give my jars 3 days to dry out before I move on to the next step, which is sealing them.
@@calafiacandleco Thank you :), and how many hours doest it take to dry in the mold before you unmold them specially those with pigment please?
@@lucierocarkova5732 usually 3-4 hours. You want to make sure the molds no longer feel warm and then they’re ready to come out
Hi hope ur well ,I have a question i made white cement octagon tiles (coasters) and drew on them with aclyric paint , how ever while in mold i kept them in at least a whole hour , and after painting it and sealing it i kept it 2 days and so , in my conclusion the sealer isnt the best option what happend is after i wrapped them in paper n bubble wrap, we unvield them and they were wet like small layer of water what could be the reason? I do live in a more humid weather..
Beautiful!!! with you being an experienced concrete vessel maker in your opinion, is there a way to make the vessel have a matte chalk look?
Hmm I would say whatever mold you use, make sure it's not a resin mold as though can make the concrete come out shiny. If you leave the exterior unsealed, it appears pretty matte in my opinion.
Thank you for this video! About how long do you wait before you remove the cement from the molds considering they are not fully dried?
Ah sorry for replying so late! I wait until the mold no longer feels warm to the touch, as that's a sign that it's ready to demold. Typically for me that's anywhere from 3-4 hrs, but it can vary depending on the climate where you live.
Hello, first of all, I love and learned so much from your channel, thank you so much for this. I started my little candle business and I have one question. All my jars are sosmooth and not as matte as yours. I am not cleaning than between each filling and I am wondering why. Till now I am using only the cement all without color, could this be the reason? Or do you have other possibilities?
Hello! Sorry for the late reply. It most likely is the type of molds you are using. If they are molds made for resin (like the amazon molds), they will come out shinier.
That’s great thanks a lot . I have a question did u mold after a day ?
Hi there. Do you mean unmold? I usually wait 3-4 hours. It’s ready to come out when the mold is no longer warm to the touch.
I had been thinking about creating my own candle vessels and I so thankful to have found your CZcams. Among others artist things. I'm also a soap maker and have been searching for a soap mold. May I inquire where you found yours? TIA for you response ❤
Aw thank you! Absolutely. I have it linked in the description towards the very bottom in the “miscellaneous” category.
@@calafiacandleco thank you 😊
Did you mix sand with cement?
Tudo muito lindo onde compro esses moldes sou do Brasil Petrópolis Rio de janeiro
Hello, this is a successful video.
I have a question: do you use only cement for the manufacture? Or do you still mix in sand or something similar so that the mold hardens? I tried it exclusively with cement from the hardware store, but it was unfortunately very porous after drying.
Regards
Christopher Wolf
Hi thanks for watching! Even though the product I use is called “cement-all”, it’s actually concrete. It’s premixed with fine graded sand. If you’re using plain cement, you definitely need some kind of aggregate mixed with it.
Thank you so much for the great video. Just wondering, do you ever have any issues with the vessels cracking while the candle is burning?
Thanks for watching! No, I’ve never had any cracking issues.
@@calafiacandleco hey this is awesome I can’t wait to try... when the concrete is in the mold how long do you let them sit to dry?
@@healingvshurttarot Just until the mold is no longer warm to the touch. It varies depending on what your temp and humidity is like. For me, it's usually 3-4 hours.
hey, first of all i love what you are doing bravo! I'm sorry to bother you, I have a problem with my concrete pots. When I pour the mixture into the mold I have a lot of water that rises to the surface and yet I have tried several consistencies... do you have an idea of the solution? Thanks very much A French subscriber 😉
Hello! Thanks so much for watching. Hmm...whenever I've come across that issue, it was because my mixture was too watery. Not sure what it would be other than that.
How do you make them in bulk easily?
Wow, I really love the soap dish! With the sealer you are using, it's okay to get the cement wet??
Thanks! I actually have been meaning to look for a different sealer than can work with the soap dish. The sealer I use is water-based, which would definitely not last long at all with a soap dish. I need to research that a bit more.
@@calafiacandleco Thanks for answering! Yeah I'm wondering what would be the best sealer for soap dishes. The search continues!
hello iwanna ask, where i can find the tosca mold?
Hi! super loved your videos its amazing, easy and fun to watch. Just want to ask on your concrete jars do you cure it and put sealer (semi-gloss or matte) before pouring the wax?
Thank you :)
Thank you so much! I definitely seal. I actually have a video all about sealing. Thanks for watching!
@@calafiacandleco Alright will watch that this is actually my first video of you to watch. what about the curing i read on the article and watch on diff video to cure it for 5-7 days do you do it also?
@@Syiaco18 I usually unmold them after 3-4 hours and let them sit for 3 days. Then seal. Then sit another day or two. Then fill with wax.
@@calafiacandleco Thank you so much for the tip and you reply quickly I LOVE IT!
why your jars dont crack or have pours on them ?
Thank you for taking the time to share :) So I’m wondering after sealing, can these also be like coffee mugs too? If we seal it’ll be okay?
Oh and I use cement all but it’s so dark. Any recs for white cement ?
I would’ve advise using them for drinking or eating purposes. Maybe you can if you find a specific sealer but idk. I have a video about adding titanium dioxide to the cement-all which lightens it.
@@calafiacandleco thank you! I have to remind myself this isn’t pottery. But should be decor only. Thank you for the response and taking the time. I already make decor candles but really want to make my own dishes and vessels - creative and saves $
Can you tell me how you seal the concrete trays and keep the matte finish. I tried some sealers but they are shiny and didn’t like that look. I really liked your which look more matte. Thanks love all of your videos.
I currently use the Earth Safe Finishes matte varnish for my trays. It still leaves a bit of a sheen though.
Have you ever used hempcrete for your candle vessels?
I have not!
I love your videos where do you sell your products please
Hello I sell online at www.calafiacandleco.com
Do you use a oil release agent on your molds before using? If so, what do you use and how? thanks
Hello! No I do not
Do you make all your jars one at a time or do you mix enough concrete to make several at a time?? How many jars have you been able to do in a day? I saw your gold swirl jars and that's what i'm really interested in - do you just swirl the gold powder in or is there a more distinct process? PS: Your work with concrete is mind blowing.
Hi there! Thank you so much! I usually make 2 or 3 at a time. I use gold acrylic paint and just barely swirl it in before I pour. It's harder to make more than 2 at a time when you are swirling in paint, because most of the paint will want to flow out on the first vessel. I usually switch back and forth between 2 vessels to try and get the gold paint dispersed evenly.
I've been binging cement vessel making videos and wonder if putting the paint into the mold will help?
Just saw a guy using a drill with egg beater to mix his cement. HD carries cement all. Have you tried quikrete 60lbs bags? Or any other types of cement?
When I first began making concrete jars I tried quikrete and it did not work. It crumbled when I unmolded. I really recommend cement-all.
Hola apenas encontré tus videos , son geniales me gustaría saber ¿porque usar agua destilada y no agua regular del grifo
Hello! Thanks for watching. I was getting water spots on my vessels from using tap water, so I switched to distilled and it hasn't been an issue. I know some people use regular spring bottled water or filtered water.
@@calafiacandleco Muchísimas gracias ☺️
Im learning more all the time. My big issue is finding the proper cement/concrete? I hear that only use product that says, concrete not just cement?
That is true in a way. You can use concrete, as it’s already a mix of cement + sand + an aggregate. Cement on its own won’t work. You would need to add at least sand to it. Possibly an aggregate, too.
Suggestion for the leaf trays: You could try setting them on an old cookie sheet before pouring. That way once you've poured the concrete, you can give the sheet a little shimmy to level it out and light taps on the floor to release air bubbles. Just a thought. Thanks for your content, it's super informative!
I do this with my coasters! It does work very well. I’ll have to try it with the leaf ones. Thanks for watching! 🤍
Hi i am from Germany.
Your Videos are amazing 🥰👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
if anyone knows what sealer Is Good for this jars that you can buy in germany this would be very helpfull😊😊😊
Hello! Thank you for watching. I appreciate it. :)
Do you happen to know how to make concrete food safe? Would love to make shot glasses/mugs!
I don't, I'm sorry!
I forgot to ask my question🐝 Are you making lids? Do you design dust covers for these? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. We appreciate you more then you’ll ever know💕
-Jojo Wireback Candle Co.
I do not use lids. I design dust covers on canva and print them out using my Cricut. I would make a tutorial but i don’t even know how I got it to work on the Cricut 😂 I don’t think I could explain it again
Did you use a release agent before you poured? If so what did you use?
No, I’ve never used one of those.
Have you tried a wooden wick with the coconut waxes you are using in the concrete jar?.
Yes, I have. I tried for a few months when I first started. I couldn’t get them to work for me
Oh that’s to bad, because they would look awesome!! You could try sending one to wade at ‘black tie candle’. He does reviews on candles to help you with issues of wicking and other things. Your candles are beautiful!! Just a thought😊😊😊
Im just wondering what do you use to seal the concrete soap dish? Thank you
I set the soap dish aside for now for that reason. The sealer I use for everything else won’t work since it’s water based. I need to research a different sealer for the soap dishes.
hi Bree, what made you choose this particular size mould? im tossing up between the 3 inch tall and 3.5 tall size, did you try the 3.5?
Just personal preference. I do have one 3.5” tall mold. I like that one, as well. I was just looking for around an 8oz filled candle for my signature jar.
Hi there can you recommend a concrete that I can make my table lamp base from ?
You should be able to use when I am using in this video, Cement-all.
Hi, I’m wondering how you can get all white for the color of cement? I know you use titanium dioxide to lighten it but have you ever made a true white one before??
Hey there! I haven't made a true white with cement-all. You can add up to 5% of pigment powder before you start possibly compromising the integrity of your vessel. I haven't ever added that much, so I'm not sure how white the outcome is.
Thanks for everything! Great job.
What is the Cement/Sand Ratio?
I’m not sure as the mix I use is already pre-mixed
@@calafiacandleco oh its premix cement with sand inside? thought you filter sand like i do
I just recently started making containers. I'm finding that my cement all is setting faster than I can pour it. Am I not adding enough water? It's the right consistency when I start to pour.
Hi there! This has been happening quite a bit to me. I talk about this more in my most recent videos, but I've been getting inconsistent bags of cement-all. It starts to set up really quick. I've found that adding "flow control" by the makers of cement-all helps a ton. If you check out my in-depth concrete candle jar tutorial a few videos back, I discuss flow control and how I use it.
love your stuff!! I tried to do it but my jar have hairline crack on it. :( how can I fix this and why ?
Hmm ... I would guess either your mixture is too watery or the concrete you're using isn't working.
I thought concrete was porous. Wont it be easier to crack? They look beautiful
It is porous, but you’re still able to use it to create pieces.
Where can I find these in bulk? I live in LA ❤
The vessels? Not too sure. I would search online, maybe check out Etsy.
Hey!! I’m from Greece and we doesn’t have Rapid Set-Cement all . Can we create with another brand (isomat) cement ?
Whatever you use, you just need to make sure it is cement + an aggregate. For example, cement-all is cement + fine graded sand making it a concrete.
Are those that you use the 3.5 inch or 3 inch tall ones?😁 I know you tagged the product but just making double sure because when I look on the ruler 3 inches seems very short haha
Sorry the late reply! Those are the 3” tall ones
What’s the weight of these candle jars?
Hi Bree!
I also make candles (in Europe), and it is looking like because of the pandemic, metal tins/jars are becoming to be one of the many things that have shipping problems. I have been using 8oz rose gold metal tins, very similar to the ones you use in black. But the only seller in my country, that I know of, has them sold out for a while now and I'm starting to worry a lit bit already.
I just found you and looked through probably all your videos, and it looks sooo pretty. And also, it looks like concreate jars would be something that you can always make more and not be worried about sold out signs on metal jar website's.
I also looked up for Earth Safe Finishes, I believe they don't ship to Estonia and I have no idea, how is this thingy called in our language. But I understand sealing step is necessary. Do you have any thoughts where would I could find it? Maybe in construction shops..
And I have one more question. Have you made any calculations on how much is the cost on one jar, if you set aside all the purchases like shakers and heat guns etc that you need to buy once.
Anyways, beautiful work, keep it up! :)
Hello! Thanks so much for watching :). We have been experiencing jar shortages here in the U.S., as well. That’s what led me to make my own. It’s a great idea! I would email earth safe finishes to see if they can ship to you. If not, I would check a construction store and look for a heat-resistant, non-toxic concrete sealer or natural stone sealer. I have figured out my cost of goods and for one concrete jar in the size that I use, it costs me $0.17 without sealer, $0.30 including the sealer. This is in U.S. dollars. It definitely saves you some money to make your own jars. :)
@@calafiacandleco Thank you for your time 🥰
just curious are your labels permanent adhesive? I was wondering if your customers wanted to remove them easily or not?
They are not permanent. I’ve been able to remove them pretty easily
Very nice. I have a question, did you make the mold support (3D printed)? Thanks for the reply !

So looking into things I am wondering if cement all is a gray or white base, when buying colorant it ask u what your base is.. I went back to check I'm guessing the cement all is grey but it looks white in your video
You are correct! It’s grey base.
You used just cement? No aggregates? Or did you use a concrete mix?
Hello I use cement-all, which is cement + sand
How can we protect cement jars to break? Our one out of ten jars broken after melting wax.
Are you using just cement? Or are you adding anything to the cement? Also too much water in the mix can cause them to be weak.
Hi, I have been getting into making candles for a few months now but when I light my candle, a crack forms on the jar :( would you happen know Why this is happening ? Thank you for all your tips, France is not as developped as the US for candle making businness…
Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I would say either your mixture is too watery, or it could be the wrong type of concrete. That would be my best guess.
Do you sand your vessels or your trays.??
I just briefly go around the bottom edges with a sanding block. Not for long, just to knock down any rough edges.
does the varnish make the concrete scratch resistant?
I wouldn't say it completely prevents scratches. It does help though.
Hey i have a question. I keep getting these white dots on my vessels. Im currently using tap water for the mixture. Do you think the problem is the water or maybe im not mixing properly?
It could be the tap water. Are you experiencing the dots without adding any pigments or paints?
Where did you find these silicone molds ?the ones that are for candles
Hi I have everything linked in the description
