2024 BMW M440i Gran Coupe - This or the M340i?

The 2024 BMW M440i Gran Coupe Legacy Edition, according to one of us, is the better choice over the M340i sedan.

M340i - It's the ultimate driving machine and even a better daily driver than a M3.

I agree it’s a more versatile form factor over the 3 series, and I actually prefer the coupe shape and overall styling vs the 3 because it’s far more unique.
But what prevented me from buying one is the complete lack of adaptive cruise control. I’ve seen maybe 3 M440i GCs in Canada going back to 2021 with it optioned. As a budget GT car (which is essentially what this is) adaptive cruise should be available. I was told by a dealer rep that BMWs are “driver’s cars” and their customers don’t want adaptive cruise. That’s ridiculous, on a commute and in stop and go I want it. And tell that to Alfa Romeo, where it’s standard on several trims of the Giulia, including the 2024 QV I just picked up for 5k more than the “individual spec” M440i. That’s right. A 505 hp RWD car that offers a superior driving experience to the M3, with all the options you could ever want for the same price as a 382 hp M440i. BMW has lost the plot.

M440i XDrive for sure, always had the 6cyl coupe versions but getting older this GC gives you all you need in terms of drive comfort, 4 doors, lot of space and you can drive this car relaxed or really fast and sporty.

The Audi S5 Sportback is a direct competitor you didn’t mention. I ended up with a 2024 version of the BMW but would have preferred the S5 but was unable to locate the exact one I wanted in the color I liked.

Finally, a decent BMW without the hypocrisy of EV or Hybrid.
The pricing is pretty good value. Why would anyone buy a Acura or Infiniti???
