When you have a fsrm bad with 100-300+ planters it's wise to make at least 40% perfect yield corn. When you harvest ripe corn you also get a percentage of low grade.
I built a 1st floor 18 planters then the next 4 floors 20 planters and I made like over like 5 or 10k low grade from corn seeds I found from eating corn.
Would love to see a video of doing the hooking everything up trying to learn

Hey, loved this vid and you guys in general! Replicating this design was really straightforward as well! I have just two questions: 1) I noticed you opted without placing heaters, can I ask why? And 2) If I wanted to place down heaters, where would you suggest placing em, and how many planter boxes would one heater cover (it is also the same as sprinklers? Say, 2 heaters opposite each other, per 6 planter boxes?)?

You only need heaters if you are building in the snow. About 2 heaters per 6 planterboxes should be enough. But keep in mind that it will cost you more power, which means you need more wind turbines or solar panels

@@WeedFarmers you can use them with a solar panel and blocker for night times , if nights are long (vanilla) your temperature drops , especially in desert biome . also , you dont need Pump Switches after the water pumps unless you use purifiers , you could save alot of power / mats by just running the water pumps to your top sprinklers and go down from there !

Hi, new to Rust here and just found your channel. Your videos are really great and informative as I'm really interested in getting into farming. I'm just curious if all the stuff and methods you guys use would work with farming other seeds, like red and yellow berries etc. I noticed that hemp seeds have different stats compared to other types of seeds but it seems like there's not alot of information around farming in this game. If you guys can offer any insight I would really appreciate it!
Hey! Awesome that you are getting into farming. We have used this farm for corn and potatoes as well, and it works great. We have not tried farming berries, so i unfortunately cannot help with that. We usually just farm weed 🧑🌾. I'm sure the base design would work well with berries tho.

Hey so it’s me again XD. Last time I did what what I followed in one of the comment instructions on the branches. Now I would like to know that when in your video here. You just connected the power to the electric branch to power everything. So some people have said that if you leave the water on it will affect it. I’m not too sure if that’s correct or not? So what I’m trying to ask is that is it better to connect the windmill power to the electric branch forever leaving the water and pumps on, as is this a good thing or bad thing?

It depends on how many G's they have. With GGGYYY it takes about 2hrs

Just curious, could you use splitters instead of branches or does it take too much power off and slow down the effectiveness of the sprinklers, pumps and lights? I’ve seen comments on what to do with the electricity part. Just curious to see if the splitter is easy and effective or not. 🤔
The problem we found with splitters is that they always divide the input power by 3, which often leads to you either having to much electricity or too little from the outputs..
If they were to provide the exact amount you needed then they would be more effective.
With branches you can select exactly how much electricity you need, which we found to be more usefull, and easier.

@@jarkk0896 Yes, it works without timers. If you use timers you can save a bit of electricity. However we prefer without timers for the simplicity.

Hey Weed Farmers i'm running into a problem when making this design. In this video you use 2 sprinklers per 6 planterboxes but if i fill all the 6 planterboxes with seeds they do not get enough water. Is there something I'm doing wrong here?
That sounds weird. The 2 sprinklers should provide just enough water for all 6 planterboxes.
However, if you plant the seeds at the same time you turn on the sprinklers, the water level in the planter boxes will stay the same(around 0) and rise very slowly, since it only just provides enough water.
Therefore you want to keep the sprinklers running for a little time before planting the seeds. The water level in each planterbox should be about 3000 (higher water level dont make a difference unless you use fertilizer.) before you plant the seeds.
Alternatively, you seeds may have the "W" gene. causing them to require more water, in which case 2 sprinklers aren't enough. This should be avoided.

try make 2 smaller farms. the upkeep scales at a ratio to how large your base is. 2 smaller bases would theoretically need less upkeep than 1 large base of the same size

Yes our plan was to make a separated video on water/electricity, but it might take a while before that comes. Besides there is already a few good video guides out there, that goes in further detail. But if you pause the video, you can see everything we did.

144 planter boxes requires 288 tarps. which would take 3600 barrels. how on earth do you get that many planters? do you go for barrels? do you go for tunnel dwellers? do you diving in the ocean for sunken chests and sunken crates? do you go for underwater dwellers? or do you buy the large planter boxes from outpost for scrap? please tell me. i tried to do this base, and i realized i have no idea how to get 288 tarps
Getting the 144 planterboxes can be a bit of a pain. We usually just farm oceans/roads/monuments for scrap and tarp, then use the tarp to make planterboxes, and recycle everything else at outpost to buy boxes for scrap.
You can also just farm planterboxes for the first floor or two, and then start planting the hemp. That hemp will then give u more than enough scrap to buy the rest.
@@WeedFarmers okay getting 36 planter boxes in one floor is a much easier goal than getting 144 planter boxes. i will try this build again.

With the water and electricity being the most complicated part of the build it sucks that it got the least amount of screen time

We don't use a battery anymore :D
A battery is not necessary when using windmills, since they produce energy the at all times.
If you however were using solar panels for energy a battery would be good to have, to save energy for nighttime.

why you dont show how you conect the eletricity
To get the water in the sprinklers you need to place 3 water pumps for 1 floor.
Then each water pump needs to be connected to a "fluids pump and switch".
Then the water output from each fluid pump and switch, goes to the sprinklers.
Each fluid pump & switch, provide enough water for 4 sprinklers (use the passtrough option on the sprinklers, to connect the water to 4 sprinklers).
Now all you need to do is power the water pumps and the fluid switch & pumps with electricity.
As far as i remember the water pumps each require 5 power, and the switch needs 1 power.
The way you do this is with electrical branches. Take the electricity output from your wind turbine, and divide it up with branches, the pumps all get the power they need.
Then the last thing you need to do is to power the lights, they need 2 power each. To power them you just take the electricity from a branch, and place it in the light. Then you can use the passthrough output on the light, the power til other lights and so on.

@@synix_chann Yea it's a bit annoying to do. It's because the water pumps do not have passthrough ports like the sprinklers and lights have. Therefore you need to use a branch to divide the electrical signal, so you get multiple outputs for each pumpt.
You start by connecting your wind turbine "output" port, to a branch "input". Then you press "e" on the branch, and change til value to the amount of power you need. In the case of a water pump it would be 5 power. Then on the branch, you take the port "branch output" and lead it to your water pumps "power input".
And now you have powered one of your many water pumps. To continue, you then take the remaining power from the branch called "power out" into to input of a new branch.
Then on the new branch, you set the value of power you need. Lets say you need to power a fluid pump & switch, you set the value to 1. -> connect the "branch out" to the switch and now your switch has power. Then take the "power out" to a new branch, and so on.
