Microsoft is still reenabling the Windows Update Service somehow after these steps/ending the task/reboot. The timer randomly starts updating (if I am away for 10min or so I can't stop it). This most recent update is very very annoying because it takes 45min and fails every time. It tries to repeat daily.

@@clamicarpus A bruteforce way to stop updates is to go to Windows folder, look for SoftwareDistribution\Download. This is the folder where updates get downloaded to before installing. Look up a tutorial on how to change ownership of folders and then take permissions to the Download folder away from windows so it can't write the downloads to that folder anymore. So far that has been the only real way I found to permanently stop any updates.

There is no way to disable the update ever. I just had a talk with a microsoft assisstant and that person told me there is no way to disable it. The update will start automatically without your permission. They don't give a shit about your privacy. Disabling window's update doesn't matter.

If windows engineers should build a car then they would make this sleek looking fast car, great strong framing, very fuel efficient even can run on water... But has small doors that we have to squeeze our bodies to get into the car, has no any rear viewing features, the steering wheel is facing upwards, the driver seat is facing sideways, and you should go under the vehicle to turn on the car.
If you are wondering how I can write this comment,...it's because I'm contemplating and writing this comment while waiting for a windows 10 finish with it's update process.

    Well done tutorial;, but:
    - Why not show people how to create a shortcut to Administrative Tools on the desktop to have quick access to Windows tools?
    - Instead of always telling people to right click and choose ... why not tell them to double-click?
    - Why not show people how to quickly get to Device Manager (and other services) by right-clicking on This PC and selecting Manage. (don't forget to show them how to add that icon to the desktop.)
Now that they know how to do that please remind them that disabling auto update permanently, or even temporarily, is not a really good idea.

Updates are super frustrating especially when they bog down your computer. I thought i turned mine off but they turned back on some how. Thank you this was driving me crazy. Windows constantly updating. One of many pet peeve's of windows 10 forced updates bogging down your computer. This bs is why I only update once every 3 mo or if they fix a major security patch.
